The integrity and innovation that began with the development of the Los Angeles area by Frank Ayres and his son, Don Ayres Sr. in the early 1900’s remains with the Ayres Hotels today, setting them apart from other hotel chains. Frank H. Ayres came to California from Ohio with his wife and young son Donald to explore land development opportunities.

Frank Ayres formed Frank H. Ayres & Son with Don Ayres Sr.. The foresight of this father and son team would, in a matter of years, become the foundation of entire communities in the Santa Monica and Westchester areas of Los Angeles County.

In 1957, Don Ayres, Jr. joined the firm. In the coming decade, the Ayres brand would become a recognized name, creating distinctive homes in well-planned areas stretching from the San Fernando Valley to San Diego.

Don Jr. developed the concept of a European boutique hotel after a trip to Europe with his daughter in the early 80s. Ayres has continually adapted to the ever-changing needs of the marketplace without losing sight of the importance of friendly service and value in the Ayres brand of hotels.

With our first resort in Paso Robles and new properties in San Diego, the Ayres family tradition of quality and value is stronger than ever.
