We will encourage all students to develop their learning skills and widen their interests and experience – either by following a 4th A level, an AS level or another enrichment courses. Online Learning is where students can develop their own course of study based on widening their interests or supplementing their A level subjects.

This opportunity is not dictated by exams or staff because there are a very wide range of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) which can be taken in Online Learning classes. Many free courses of varying lengths are available which can be used on CVs, interviews and in the UCAS process to demonstrate wider knowledge and experience.

Students can use Unifrog, Open Learn or Future Learn to search and enrol on a variety of courses online and students will select their own courses based on interest, a supervising teacher will monitor the courses selected.
A huge range is available both in terms of length of course and topic – these may include courses on developing organisation skills, delving deeper into specific subjects or ones that enrich wider interests such as Law or medicine. Students will be expected to follow this course for at least two terms in Year 12 and will be supervised for one period per week.
