October

All Saints Day is approaching on November 3. We will be honoring the members, family, and friends of Covenant UMC who’ve passed within the past year. Please submit the name and picture of your loved one, at office@covenantumc.net. Each person will be named during both our Traditional and Connection services on Sunday, November 3. For questions, contact Pastor Allison at pastorallison@covenantumc.net

OCTOBER IS PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH!

Pastor Chris and Pastor Allison – THANK YOU for early Sunday mornings and late nights, for the seeds you plant and disciples you nurture, for the sermons you preach and the prayers you lift up, for the wise counsel and the words of encouragement, for your sacrifice and service, and so much more that you do! Please take time to express your appreciation for Pastor Chris and Pastor Allison with a card, a note, a small gift, and most of all prayer. 1 Timothy 5:17 “The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.”

Prayer List Week of October 7, 2024

• Linda Hughes asks that we pray for her brother Marty, for healing and guidance in life after the passing of their mother, Sarah Gross.

• Linnaea Arford prays for 16-year-old Devin, who last his mom last week.

• Please pray for Bishop Tracy Malone as she begins her ministry and leadership in Indiana.

• Leah Pease asks that we pray for her Uncle John and Uncle Jeff who reside in North Carolina. Both men have dealt with the hurricanes in their area.

• Erik Fenstermacher asks that we pray for himself and eight other nursing students and three faculty members from Ivy Tech who are going on a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic from Friday, October 11 to Saturday, October 19.

• Steve and Marlene Collier would like prayers for the people of the Carolinas who are still struggling from the hurricane, especially those in the mountains who are totally cut off.

• Steve and Marlene Collier pray for the family of Shirley Hess. Shirley is an elderly neighbor who is in palliative care at Heritage Pointe.

• Peg Roser gives praises for the successful procedure for Steve Roser to quiet his Parkinson’s tremors. She is thankful and grateful for all the prayers.

• Rick Fosdick prays for his sister, Connie, who is being treated for cancer.

• Lee Keefer and Karen Jackson would like prayers for Frances M. O’Brien. Fran is the mother of Karen, and she’s preparing to leave Parkview Regional to go home with hospice care.

• Laura Diaz gives praises to her first daughter, Zabeida. Her birthday is on Friday, October 11.

• Pastor Chris would like prayers for his father, Ron Nunley, who’s on his fourth bout of antibiotics for his leg.

• The Loomis’s would like for us to pray for Andrew, a coworker, who’s 13-year-old daughter is suffering from multiple organ failures, and not expected to live much longer.

• The Mission Team would like prayers for Lincoln Elementary School. May the school environment continue to be a safe place of learning, creativity, and acceptance. Covenant lifts the students and staff members in prayer.

This is also a time to celebrate Pastor Chris’ achievement: This year marks a monumental achievement for Pastor Chris. It is the 25th Anniversary of his Ordination into the United Methodist Church. On June 4, 1999, he was ordained an Elder by Bishop Woodie White. Since that time he has served across the state in a variety of positions within the church: Associate Pastor, Lead Pastor, District Superintendent, Board Chair, Camp Dean, Consultant, and Coach. As part of this celebration, he has been participating in a series of mini-retreats to prepare him for a sabbatical in 2025. The Annual Conference provides a small grant for every participant in this “Called to Fruitfulness” process. The Leadership Board is excited to share in this celebration and hope you will congratulate him on his quarter century of ordained ministry.
