Our approach has a proven track record - Axxis produces over 2,400 events every year (75% locally, 25% nationally). We utilize technical directors with a specialty in each discipline (audio, lighting, video, and scenic) who lead an interdepartmental technical and design review process to resolve any initial design or technical challenges before we arrive onsite. We provide detailed CAD drawings for nearly every event that clearly communicate the needs of the production. We arrive on time, on budget, and deliver what we promise.

PRODUCTION SUPPORT TEAM
Our production process is designed to be as efficient and stress-free as possible for the client and the venue. Our account managers work hand in hand with the client from the initial concept through the post-event evaluation. The account manager works with our scenic and graphic design teams, and the heads of our audio, lighting, video, and scenic departments to develop comprehensive production designs that reinforce the client’s messaging. Once the client has received design plots and renderings, and has signed off on the budget, our production coordinators and technical directors create detailed job profiles, assign show positions, and handle all on-site event logistics.
Chris Burgin Director of Lighting and Design Chris joined Axxis 12 years ago as a Lighting Technician and quickly ascended to Director of the Lighting Department. He handles all lighting designs in-house, which allows us to provide a turnkey service to our clients. His extensive knowledge of lighting systems and CAD design make him a valuable asset to our team. Prior to Axxis, Chris worked as a Lighting Designer and Director for touring productions with Montgomery Gentry and Tracy Byrd. Stewart Davis Director of Production As Managing Partner for Axxis, Stewart oversees the strategic direction for the company. Stewart provides leadership for the Production, Design, and Account Management teams to facilitate a single vision. Stewart has been with Axxis for over a decade having previously held senior level positions in the Hotel and Resort industry in Marketing, PR, and Event Management. Stewart graduated Cum Laude with a dual major in Economics and Marketing from Ohio University. Ron Fill Director of Operations, AV Manager, Warehouse Manager, IT Manager, Driver Ronald joined the Axxis team in 2007 as a Dynamic energetic individual with a proven track record and with a high commitment to efficiently delivering a world class product to market. He has a flexible array of skills and is ready to adapt them to whatever the situation needs. Ron has over 17 years of designing and implementing road and trade shows and producing dynamic presentations. Ron has worked for such companies as Microsoft, Apple, Softbank, Charter Communications, Actors Theatre of Louisville and Buena Vista software just to list a few. Mark Hancock Director Business Development Mark has been with Axxis since 2010. Prior to becoming an Account Manager with Axxis, Mark has held the title of Director of AV, Production, and Business Development at the Kentucky International Convention Center, The Kentucky Expo Center, and the KFC YUM Center. Mark has an extensive background in the hospitality field as a VP Operations, General Manager, and Director of Sales and Marketing throughout the US. Courtney Powell Director of Awesome Courtney has been with Axxis since 2006 and brings a strong background in Fine Arts, Photography, and Graphic design to the team. She works closely with everyone during our proposal process to make sure we meet the client’s needs and exceed their expectations. Once rewarded a job Courtney can become a resource to our clients to design banners and marketing materials to ensure the message stays on brand and pieces are completed in a timely fashion.

Anthony Vaughan Director of Production and Show Services Anthony began working with Axxis 5 years ago with a large outdoor holiday tent project with massive puppets and extensive rigging. His ability to save on resources and efficient planning launched him into his role as Director of Production and Show Services. Not only does he currently serve as Technical Director on-site for various events, he also manages our custom scenic builds and fabricated signage for clients. Whatever you dream, his team can build. He serves as an integral member to the Axxis team and his positive energy leads his department. Phillip Vaughan Technical Director/ Scenic Director Phillip joined Axxis as a rigger and scenic technician in 2014 and was promoted to Technical Director and Scenic Director in 2017. He brings in past experiences of U.S. Marines, off-shore oil rigging, and high end trim carpentry which, in turn, brings a neoteric perspective to the production industry. His professionalism and detail oriented work creates a positive work environment and client satisfaction. Scott Walker Director of AV Scott has been with Axxis for 16 years and currently runs our Audio/Video Department. Scott has an extensive background in audio and has developed a strong passion for video. Scott also takes care of inventory control as well as capitol purchases. Justin Wardell Director of Production Sales Justin Wardell has been the Sr. Account Director with Axxis since 2014, and manages several of Axxis’ key accounts. Justin has been in the live event industry for over 17 years, and has played a key role in hundreds of productions that include conventions, concerts, festivals, corporate meetings, galas, theater performances, and permanent installations. Prior to moving to Louisville, Justin was Sr. Account Executive at Intelligent Lighting Creations, and Rental, Retail, & Production Sales Manager at DesignLab Chicago. Justin earned an MBA in Marketing from DePaul University, and a BS in Theater Design and Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis.

Jason Shaw Account Director Jason joined Axxis 6 years ago, bringing with him extensive experience in entertainment production and account management. After graduating from the Youth Performing Arts School, he toured with Sesame St. Live before moving to NYC and working on various film, television, and theatrical productions. He went on to spend over 8 years in Food & Beverage Sales before realizing his passion for the entertainment industry could no longer be ignored. Since joining Axxis, Jason has successfully overseen the direction of Key Accounts such as The Marriott Louisville Downtown, Paristown Pointe, LG&E, The Justin Thomas Foundation, & The Louisville Orchestra to name a few.

DESIGN CAPABILITIES
Our designers use a 3D computer drafting program called Vectorworks to develop scenic, lighting, and rigging plots, and to generate 3D renderings that give a nearly photo-realistic view of the final result. This program is the favorite for professionals in the event industry all over the world, and enables us to show a variety of options to clients based on the artistic vision of the event. This also allows us to calculate the crowd capacity of the room in various configurations, lay out chair/table spacing, etc., and give our clients an accurate representation of their design.

WAREHOUSE INVENTORY
Because we approach each job in a customized way we do not have a standard sales kit or catalogue. We offer solutions tailored to suit our client’s needs. That said, a sampling of major equipment in our inventory is listed below to provide an idea of our capabilities. We are able to handle a multitude of PA sizes for audio reinforcement, including Arena; two (2) 10’x 30’ projection screens that can be ground supported to save on rigging fees; two (2) large 9’ x 16’ LED video walls (5 mm) and we are able to support a show with a minimum of twelve (12) 14,000 lumen HD projectors and three (3) 25,000 lumens HD projectors without outsourcing any equipment. Because we have such an extensive inventory we are able provide quickl turnaround on event production and offer a significant cost savings to our customers. Depending on the complexity and size of event, we could receive a phone call the day before and have things turned around by the next day. We are also able to accommodate same day requests for smaller events with minimal needs.

To all who may come to witness. While it is not customary for us to extend particular notation to those who regularly conduct their operations in a truly professional manner as Axxis consistently does there are exceptions of noteworthiness. Axxis has consistently performed services for our productions and those for our clients with professional dignity, efficiency and quality. They have delivered on a number of occasions a level of comfort and expertise in the production arts that cannot be undervalued. Of particular notice is a recent run of show that included services for a large national conference, followed immediately by a sporting event and shortly after by a charitable speaking engagement. This was a complicated series of shows that would have been even more trying without the expertise that Axxis brought to the table. Our need at the time was to support our Annual Meeting, a complex 1,200 person Holiday party for our division employees that involves multiple breakout rooms in the Kentucky International Convention Center downtown, as well as a major ballroom set-up for an awards banquet and entertainment. The event requires a significant amount of creative and pre-production work, as well as the development and construction of annual theme-based staging and presentation material. Axxis bid for the opportunity, and after several interviews, it was clear that we wanted to partner with their local expertise and event professionals. Their involvement in our project helped us elevate the event from elemental to experiential, and did so without increasing our overall spend. After a few cycles on our Annual Meeting, we expanded our relationship to include several other meetings and events, ranging from small audio-only events to large business meetings and Shows. They are our go-to agency for our regional AV needs, and have even been our supplier at the Louisville Expo Center for our annual fall Show. Thank you for another great event! Through the years, Conklin’s National Conventions have both grown in numbers and become more high profile. Both of these positive developments can come with challenges. However, our partnership with Axxis has truly helped us navigate them successfully. When the convention center informed us of new fire code regulations, you helped us come up with adjustments to the stage design and the layout of the ballroom to allow us to accommodate all of our guests while still meeting the new fire code regulations. As a result, we did not have to reduce the number of banquet tables below the number of tickets that were already reserved, and were able to accommodate everyone (including the fire department)! While we didn’t end up using it, thank you for being ready with additional equipment for an overflow room. As the caliber of guests attending our annual Gala Banquet has become more high profile, (including state and U.S. congressional leaders, and even Presidential candidates), your team has helped us take the quality of our production to higher levels while staying within the constraints of our production budget.
