Fire Protection Upgrade William Martin Property Consultants, Union Central Building, Hoxton, London

Highlights Axis delivered a full fire protection upgrade to the Union Central Building in Hoxton, East London with the clients’ appointed consultants William Martin Property Consultants Ltd. The aim was to upgrade the fire compliance in this building following a detailed specification prepared by the client fire consultants and in conjunction with The London Fire Brigade. These works were designed to improve and achieve compliance on both active and passive fire safety systems within a fully occupied environment. The works were undertaken whilst the building was fully occupied with commercial tenants on the lower floors and residential to the upper part of the building. We undertook the installation of a wet sprinkler systems to the residential atria, alongside new dry riser infrastructure serving all upper floors and basement levels. We completed extensive fire stopping and compartmentation improvements throughout communal areas, ensuring compliance with fire safety requirements. The curved atrium design required specialist access solutions, including a bespoke designed scaffolding solution, to safely install sprinkler pipework and infrastructure.
