FOCUS ON HEALTHY VISION

Regular eye tests do more than check your vision they can detect early signs of conditions like glaucoma, diabetes, and high blood pressure

Encouraging your employees to book their routine eye exam is a simple step that supports long-term health, wellbeing and performance.

WHY BOOK AN EYE TEST?

Spot problems early: Many eye conditions can develop with no obvious symptoms. Regular checks can help catch issues before they affect daily life. Improve comfort and focus: Good vision reduces eyestrain, supports concentration, and boosts overall wellbeing at work

Quick, simple and included: Your SEE voucher makes eye tests free or discounted - and they only take around 30 minutes

More than just eyesight: Eye exams can also highlight broader health concerns, like high blood pressure or diabetes.

Eye and eyesight testing arrangements

Under the Health and Safety (DSE) Regulations 1992 (amended 2002), CLC, part of Axis CLC Group, recognises its duty to provide eye tests and spectacles for staff who regularly use a computer for their work.

For the purpose of these regulations, the test of vision should take account of the distance at which the screen is viewed. You should measure and inform the Optician of your normal viewing distance. Generally, 50-60cm will be comfortable, but this can vary with individual differences in vision, or the constraints placed on you by the size of screen or desk.

Eyecare Vouchers

Eyesight testing arrangements for staff have changed as of 02.12.2025. Staff are now entitled to a Smart Employee Eyecare (SEE) eyecare voucher once every 12 months provided by CLC, part of Axis CLC Group The voucher entitles staff to an eye test at a SEE affiliated Optician and the appropriate corrective spectacles for computer use.

Applying for your DSE/VDU Voucher

You must use a SEE voucher to obtain your free eye test and glasses.

Your eyesight test

Booking an eyesight test

You must have your voucher before your book your appointment.

Contact one of the independent or high street Opticians affiliated to SEE who accept their vouchers and arrange the sight test appointment. You can view a full list of Opticians once you log in or by searching for your nearest opticians yourself.

Attending your eyesight test

On the day of the appointment present the SEE eyecare voucher to the Optician before the eye examination begins. The Optician will perform the eyesight test.

If VDU spectacles are required, you can either choose a free pair from the SEE range or opt to purchase a pair of spectacles of your choice using the £25 discount offered on the SEE voucher.

For those requiring non-VDU spectacles there is a £15 discount for non-VDU spectacles costing £125 or more at affiliated opticians. The Optician completes all details on the voucher and contacts SEE who check the details and manufactures the spectacles ordered. The Optician will contact you once the spectacles arrive to arrange fitting.

The voucher and subsequent order will be returned to SEE by the Optician. SEE will then manufacture the relevant spectacles before dispatching them to the Optician for you to collect.
