Highlights

Specifications

Axis delivered a refurbishment and M&E improvement programme at Lydford Community Hall on behalf of Westminster City Council. The project formed part of the council’s investment in a local authority community facility and focused on improving the building’s condition, functionality and long-term performance for local residents.

• Roof replacement • Door repairs and replacements • Internal decoration works • New flooring installation • Above and below ground drainage works • Electrical works • Repair and replacement of ventilation systems, including extract fans • New kitchen installation • Mechanical and electrical upgrades • Planned refurbishment of a local authority community centre

The scope of works included replacement of the existing roof, repairs and replacement of doors, internal decoration, new flooring and drainage works. The programme also included electrical works, repairs and replacement of ventilation systems, including extract fans, together with the installation of a new kitchen to enhance the facility’s usability. The project required co-ordination of multiple trades and careful programme delivery within an active community setting. During the works, design alterations were required to the MVHR system after the original location proved unsuitable. Approval of the revised design resulted in delays to the programme, which were managed in collaboration with the client and project stakeholders.

The works supported Westminster City Council’s asset management objectives while improving a valuable local resource for residents. Resident Communication and Care The project took place within a community centre serving local residents and community groups. Effective communication was maintained throughout the programme to ensure stakeholders remained informed about progress and planned activities. Axis worked closely with Westminster City Council’s resident association team, which communicated directly with local residents and councillors. This collaborative approach helped provide timely updates and ensured any concerns were addressed quickly.
