Meet the Founder of A.WO.L Media

Yvette Todea Artist, Photographer, Entrepreneur

This 31 year old single mother of 2 is a woman of many talents. Her journey in entertainment began in 2010, in the small desert town of Socorro, New Mexico. She followed in the footsteps of her childhood Idol, Tyra Banks, and aspired to become a fashion Model.

Yvette left her hometown in 2012 to pursue Modeling as a full time career in Dallas, Texas. She took a role as a studio manager and booking agent at North Texas Studio One in 2014 and fell in love with Photography. She was mentored by the studio owner, Charles Holland, as well as several other Master Photographers, who helped her develop a unique style and variety of shooting techniques over the years. Using the many connections and professional relationships she had gathered and built over the years, Yvette expanded her business endeavors to include other services as part of her media company (Ambitions WithOut Limits Media), which include event staffing and coordination, Photography and Video services, Talent Casting and Scouting, and even this very magazine!

The word ‘Art’ is most commonly associated with pieces of work in a gallery or museum, whether it’s a painting from the Renaissance or a modern sculpture. However, there is so much more to art than what you see displayed in galleries. The truth is, without being aware of it, we are surrounded by art and use it on a continual basis. Most people don’t realize how much of a role art plays in our lives and just how much we rely on art in all of its forms in our everyday lives.

rt in the Home - Chances are you will have some form of art in your home.

Obviously the first things that might come to mind will be a painting, print or photograph on the wall. If you don’t have any of these things adorning your walls, don’t panic, you’d be surprised at how much art you actually have in your home if you look around! Art is not purely for looking at and admiring, a lot of it is functional too, especially when it comes to our homes. Everything from a delightfully patterned quilt on the bed, decorative tea towels or that cute pink heart covered teapot to the sleek computer case or angle-poised desk lamp can be considered a form of art.

he Joy of Art - You may be wondering why all of these things are so important to our daily lives and that you could probably survive just fine with essential items that were non-artistic. That is just the reason why art is so valuable! While art may not be vital to fulfill our basic needs, it does make life joyful. When you look at a painting or poster you’ve chosen to hang on your living room wall, you feel happy. The sculpture or figurines on the kitchen windowsill create a sense of joy. These varieties of art forms that we are surrounded by all come together to create the atmosphere that we want to live in, which is personable to us.

rt and Music - The importance of art in our daily lives is very similar to that of music. Just like art, music can make life extremely joyful and can have a huge effect on our mood. In the workplace in particular, music is something that can help people set the mood for what they are about to do. If you have something hard or difficult to work on or are feeling tired, an energetic song will likely wake you up and add some enthusiasm to the situation.

relaxing to calming music is something that eases the mind.

nspirational Art - Inspirational art, such as posters are often found in work spaces to encourage employees to continue being productive. There is now an increasing amount of companies using art in their offices, as well as playing background music, as it is proven to actually work in making end results far better quality. here may be a piece of art that you own that you personally find motivational.

Perhaps a print with a positive affirmation or quote beautifully scrolled on it or a painting of a picturesque scene of where you aim to travel to one day. I’ve even heard of people who put up posters of their favorite singer or Hollywood actress to motivate them to go to the gym!

Of course some art is very dark and can cause disturbing emotions, anger or even depression but we can choose what kind of art we want to be surrounded by in our own environment at home to make you feel good. All kinds of art can affect our mood in a positive way, making us feel happier, calmer, or even inspired to do something.

verywhere you go art is evident. Parks often use sculptures to add interest and to inform people. Posters on walls give information and motivation. Music plays on the radio to keep your energy levels up. Without even realizing it we find ourselves immersed in the power of art most of the time!

Model: Monica HymEL Monica was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and raised in central Texas. She Was married for more than half of her life, focusing on maintaining her home and raising her children. Having put her own dreams on pause to care for her family, Mo was longing for more.

She eventually got a Divorc and decided to face some of her biggest fears and be more independent and fierce. She was always a woman who loves to be center of attention, but was instead the one who took a back seat to the needs of her husband and children.

It was her turn to transform. to be a loving independent mother as well as a beautiful model. “I have been modeling for two years now. I have grown in confidence and self love through my modeling journey. I love fitness and pushing my mind and body to be the best and strongest that i can be! I would like to share my story to encourage other women of all ages, to revisit their dreams and passions. It is never too late to love yourself and that doesn’t mean that you can’t also be a great family woman in the process!”

Meet Amanda, also known as Mana Doom! She is an Alternative Model and very talented Singer that is gaining momentum in the entertainment industry in Texas!

“I’m currently based in Dallas, but I love to travel for bookings and projects. I started pursueing my dream of becoming a Model after leaving an abusive situation. I lost a bunch of weight and was trying to get my confidence back. I used my self doubts and insecurities as powerful tools to motivate myself instead of an excuse to feel sorry for myself.” Mana Doom was able to look past the negativity of her past and use that pain as fuel to her fire! She is most definitely blazing her way into the Modeling world! It was that drive and inability to give up, her perseverance and her fearlessness, that led AWOL Magazine to feature her in this issue. “So far making this cover has made me the happiest! It’s my most proud moment since I started modeling! My goal for the future is to empower other females to follow their dreams. I’d tell anyone who’s new to this business to keep practicing! You get better with every shoot, I promise. Find a group to grow with that wants to see you succeed! I’d like to shout out my crew that keeps me going every time I want to quit they always give me a reason to stay.”

Based in Irving, TX, Bree is a Model and aspiring Actress determined to make her dreams a reality!

She is working toward becoming a certified Makeup and Hair Artist as well. Bree tends to work mostly locally in Texas right now but does get to venture out on occasion for some projects and collaborations. She is balancing the busy world of Motherhood and her career, but would love to be able to travel more in the future as a professional Artist. We asked Bree what motivated her to pursue her dreams. She said that she was 30 when she started modeling. “I didn’t even want to risk starting at first. I felt “too old” next to these younger Models, I knew I always wanted to but I just needed that push. You’re never too old, you just have to have the drive and passion to do so. I had to just be brave and confident and go for it! The first time I saw my photos being printed out as posters, and my friends actually started buying them, that was huge to me! I was awestruck and crying, like, wow, I can really do this! It felt amazing to have finally let go of my fears and to see the support of my fans. I am always pushing the limits when it comes to my photoshoots, so stay tuned. I have a few coming up in the next couple of weeks and I’m now attending Boss Beauty Makeup Academy, so I’ll be needing models to practice on if any of the readers are interested in starting on their own Modeling portfolio.” Bree is 43 now and has a 16yo daughter who wants to follow in her footsteps as a model. “ My daughter and I were both victims of Abuse in our pasts. I want to help her in her journey and I’d like to empower women and young ladies, showing them that they can do anything if they truly believe in themselves. I also want to volunteer my beauty services, once I graduate, to other survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. I want to help them to find their inner strength and to know how beautiful they are inside and out! I would like to make young models, who are just starting out, understand the importance of getting References and being safe above all else! Do your research, always ask questions because no question is ever dumb. please protect yourselves!

Barbie Jean is a Model and artist based in her hometown, Dallas, Texas, and is happy to travel anywhere for bookings and creative collaborations. She doesn’t consider herself a Dream Chaser, but rather a Dream Manifester! “I could never chase a dream. A dream to me is just fortelling my future. I invite anyone to join me at upcoming events to hear more about my vision, and watch me as I bring my art to life through my work.” We asked Barbie what it is that inspired her and what she was most proud of. “I needed to be the change in the world that I wanted to see. Pride comes and goes but overall, I can say that I’ve shut mine out a long time ago, but something that I can hold close to me forever is all of the lessons I’ve learned through trial and error as well as all my experiences. Andee is a Model currently living in Hearne, Texas. She travels all over the United States for bookings. “I am chasing my dreams in Modeling, Becoming an online Influencer, and continuing my future with my education at the same time.

I was inspired to become a Model partially because of my height. I have always been “That Tall Girl”, and all the compliments I got were a push for me to go ahead and try something new! I decided maybe I should try out Modeling and getting more involved with fashion trends and other beauty topics. I would have to say my most proud accomplishment and moments in this field would be how blessed I am to be able to meet and work alongside so many amazing and motivating people from all over the world.

Meet Mandy! This Bilingual Singer, Actress and Model is absolutely the definition of a triple threat!

We caught up with this charismatic bundle of talent in Dallas,TX. She stays on the go, traveling often for gigs all around the state and even makes big moves with her busy schedule outside of Texas.

Between her Music, Video Vixen cameos, and jetset life of a Model, we might even say she travels more then the A.WO.L magazine staff some months! We asked Mandy what motivated her to pursue all these avenues. She said, “My motivation was that I wanted to conquer my fears. My fears of seeing what’s on the other side if I just tried! My fears of anxiety, I wanted to face and to show my daughter that anything is possible. That was my inspiration.” Mandy says that her proudest moments in her career include being published multiple times in magazines in Texas, California, and Louisiana, Making the cover of a National Lowrider Magazine “Best of Show Magazine”. She has recently been featured in Music Videos with big name Artists such as Lil Boosie, Yella Beezy, Moneybagg Yo, and Trapboy Freddy! “I also have some Spanish music of my own in the works. Keep an eye out! I’m super excited about these upcoming projects. My goals for the future and as of now is to just inspire, spread love, peace and healing around the earth. The Importance of Music in Our Society Art and music are basic human functions. Humankind and art cannot function without one another. We have the burning desire to create, whatever it may be and however tiny or grand. The interaction with sound is unavoidable, either to make it or take pleasure in it.

People have always found music significant in their lives, whether for enjoyment in listening, the emotional response, performing, or creating. This is no different for classical music or contemporary concert music. Both musics have immense worth for our society; however, the problem we all know in this field is that this music is little known and hence underappreciated. As a musician and artist it is my responsibility that others can learn to enjoy the art for which I have utter passion.

Music can also stimulate the mind. There are many things in music, to which one can listen and bring attention. One can be mindful of the melodies or themes, the harmony, the driving or relaxed rhythms, the color of the sounds, the activity of a piece, how the sounds are produced, or how they all relate to one another, all while, possibly figuring out how the composer conceived the piece. Focused and attentive listening is an incredible experience that allows one to be lost in a foreign sound world. — Gilbert Galindo, Composer

They were very creative with the events and that also inspired me on the creative side.” Legaci recounts being part of a team called SouthBeach Shutdown, a club in Miami Beach, which had 2,000 of the sexiest people at the time. He was proud to be recognized as one of Miami’s most attractive and elite party hosts.

Another of his biggest accomplishments was when he organized and hosted three Sold Out (800 people) Boat Parties in one day in New Orleans, Louisiana. “All those were great high points in my career, but I had to save the best for last... Dubai, Dubai, Dubai! Bringing a large group overseas to The Dubai Experience has to be my most proud accomplishment in this field. People go to Miami, they go to LA and Vegas, but I tell people that there are levels to this and Dubai is on a whole different level!” Legaci takes a group of travel lovers for a week to remember! They stay in a five star resort, experience Abu Dhabi and Dubai city tours, ride camels and dune buggies, dance, eat and party in a Yacht! With such an extravagant and adventurous lifestyle already, we wondered what more could this worldly adventurer possibly still aspire to. “Seven, eight, nine, maybe even ten figures! lol. I truly want to get into real estate and start buying land and properties. I watch a lot of HGTV. Also I want to start up my record label. I find so much talent out there! I might be that push an artist needs to pop!”

J. DINGWALL Justin Dingwall continues to challenge how the public perceives and defines beauty. In his photo series “Albus,” butterflies and snakes rest on models with albinism as symbols of transformation and change. The images are a celebration of diversity and an invitation for viewers to question and rethink conventional beauty standards.

The series includes portraits of model Sanele Junior Xaba and South African model, lawyer, and activist Thando Hopa, the first woman with albinism to grace the cover of Vogue. Dingwall uses light and dark in his work for contrast, but also symbolically to represent truth and an unenlightened state. The photographer also uses water in some of the photographs to indicate change and self- reflection.

“They are not about race or fashion, but about perception, and what we subjectively perceive as beautiful,” Dingwall in a statement. “I wanted to create a series of images that resonate with humanity and make people question what is beautiful…To me diversity is what makes humanity interesting and beautiful.”
