PARENT, INFANT, & PRESCHOOL SWIM

This class focuses on an introduction to water through creative movements and basic swimming skills, water adjustment, and safety while having fun with a parent.

Tiny Tot

Become comfortable in and around water. Some skills include submerge face, blow bubbles, supported front crawl arm action.

Level 1-Blow bubbles & dip face

Level 2-Swim 5 yds. without assistance

Level 3 -Front & back crawl 10 yds.

Level 4 -Deep water bobs, standing dives

Level 5 -Front & back crawl 50 yds.

Level 6 -Front & back crawl 100 yds.

NEED HELP WITH THE COSTS OF SWIMMING LESSONS?

Community Development offers a CDBG grant to low income households for residents of Sioux City. To sign up parent or guardian must come in person to Parks and Recreation Admin office. Provide proof of eligibility. Fill out the application and select a Learn to Swim session offered at Leif or Lewis Pools. Program is for children 5-14 years old.

Qualifications:

• Must be a current resident of Sioux City, Iowa

• Bring in your recent notice of decision letter from DHS program (i.e. food stamps). Letter must be within six months and must list current address and list members of the household that qualify.

Adult Lap Swim

Lap lanes will be available June 12-August 6 for lap swimming and water walking at the following times and locations listed below. Other swim lesson programs may take place at the same time. Program may be canceled due to low participation.

AGES: Must be 18 yrs & out of high school

Junior Lifeguarding

Want to know what it takes to be a lifeguard for the Sioux City Parks & Recreation but aren’t old enough? The Junior Lifeguarding program offers children ages 1015 the opportunity to learn and train with professional lifeguards. The Junior Lifeguards will gain a wide variety of skills, knowledge, and valuable experience which builds self-confidence and skills for life. On the last day, enjoy a pizza party with the lifeguards!
