Gwyn ‘Will’ Williams Pearson tutor of the year 2019
(Left) Paula Breakspear won the Lee Stafford Academy Student of the Year 2021 and is the only student who has achieved the ‘Big Ten’. This is the Academy’s certification of skills and usually it’s only staff that manage to achieve this!
Listening to Students Student Voice First is in place to encourage students to share their views and opinions about the College experience. We believe that students should be at the heart of everything we do.
Inclusive
Inclusive is an approach, not just a title. Key to our mission of changing lives and communities is removing barriers to learning with us and working with us, whatever they may be, and promoting a positive and tolerant environment for everyone.
It’s not all hard work!
As part of being a further education student you will get the oportunity to go on a range of trips both in the UK and abroad. College is much more than just the subject you’re studying. We’ve done art trips to Amsterdam, a whole College visit to New York and a residential trip with the National Citizen Service with our Health and Childcare students.
We want to empower every student to speak out and share ideas, because every student’s voice should be heard. abingdon-witney.ac.uk/student-life/student-voice
Other initiatives: • Student Voice • We have a Student Lead for our LGBTQ+ College community • Our Student Performance Managers deliver a pastoral approach to support all students on their programme • We’ve worked with the Charlie Waller Trust to support positive attitudes to mental health.
5 The ‘Big Apple’- worth a bite!
We want you to excel at College as ‘you’, so you can be extraordinary.
The sport course was an ideal steppingstone for what I wanted to do next in life. I gained experience in leading and instructing a large variety of groups and activities.
