STAFF SUPPORT PINK SHIRT DAY Avondale College staff were in the pink on Friday - quite literally - as they showed their support for the Pink Shirt Day campaign to stop bullying and show aroha and kindness. Celebrated annually around the globe, Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying, after a peer was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In Aotearoa, Pink Shirt Day aims to create schools, workplaces and communities where all people feel safe, valued and respected. Our students had also shown their support for this cause earlier in the week, with funds from Tuesday's mufti day being donated to The Mental Health Foundation.
