B SENIOR PRIZEGIVING The hard work and academic success of our senior students was recognised at Senior Prizegiving on Thursday last week. Book prizes were awarded to students who had placed in the top three of their subject across their individual year levels. The College's Special and Memorial Awards were presented to well-deserving recipients, and more than $300,000 worth of scholarships to tertiary insitutions were also awarded. One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the inaugural Brent Lewis HEART Award. This special award was commissioned by Mr Lewis, who retires this month after 19 years as Principal at Avondale College, and recognises a student who has lived and led the HEART values of Avondale College. The award was presented to Tasfia Mahmood. Receiving the Board of Trustees Staff Travel Study Award this year was Senior Manager, Mr Jamie Smith. In a first for Avondale College, this year the top academic honours were awarded to two students in both the NCEA and Cambridge International pathways. These students' perfect scores in their subjects meant that Dux medals were presented to all four. Congratulations to Nilotri Das and Cate McIntosh (NCEA) and Shivam Desai and Albert Wang (CAIE) on their achievements! (For a full list of recipients, please see page 6.)
