B SCHOLARS ACADEMY Avondale College's top scholars are enjoying a series of lectures and workshops that focus on preparing them for success in their academic endeavours. Monday morning's session was run by Ms Fraser, our HOD of History, in which she explored ideas around communicating and arguing effectively. Deputy Principal Dr Brown says that the Scholars’ Academy is designed to give students targeted support and recognition during the year, as well as opportunities to work with other able students for personal enrichment and preparation for external qualifications and awards. "It also allows our top scholars to benefit from being part of a cross-curricular approach to advanced learning," he says.

SENIOR EXAMS NEXT WEEK Monday 22 May - Friday 26 May On Thursday the Dance Department hosted a lunchtime performance by the Royal Family Hip-Hop crew Varsity. The crew, from the wellknown Palace Dance Studio, is raising funds for the crew's trip to the World Hip-Hop Championships in Arizona this August. Year 12 student, Brianna Hamilton, and past student Corbyn Taulealea are performing/travelling with the group. We wish them well as they prepare for this prestigious event!
During this time all of our senior students, with the exception of those in Learning Support (Class 2) and the Transition classes, will be granted study leave to prepare for their examinations. Please note, that due to internal assessment components, not all subjects are examined during this upcoming week. It is compulsory for students to attend their exams as per the examination timetable on page 6. Junior students attend classes as normal.
