YEAR 11 FOOD TECH SITE VISIT AVONDALE COLLEGE The importance of eating a healthy breakfast as part of a balanced diet is an idea that our Level One Food Technology students are taking very seriously! This year, students in Miss Wood's class have been asked to design and create a nutritious, exciting breakfast for children between the ages of 5-12 from a list of ingredients commonly found within the family budget. An important part of Food Technology is stakeholder feedback, so this term we invited a group of students from the Avondale Intermediate Tongan Cultural group over to trial and taste our food, to give our students realistic feedback on the breakfast dish they had created. It was a very successful afternoon and a great chance for the intermediate school to see all the fantastic things happening in Food Technology at Avondale College!

SPORTS ACADEMY On Monday morning at about the time that many of their friends were hitting the snooze button, our Year 9 Sports Academy students were already working hard on the courts and fields of Avondale College. The basketballers and cricketers were going through their paces inside the stadium, while out on the grass and netball courts the hockey, football, rugby players and netballers worked their way through the early morning fog, showing endeavour and tenacity with every step.
