In this assignment, you have to perform a product critique for the Headout mobile application (iOS/Android), which is an app that enables travellers to book local tours, activities & experiences in different cities around the world. You have to provide a detailed analysis of the overall user interface (UI), user experience (UX) and the product features. Part 1 Analysis before the first use of the product

Discoverability of the App Headout – Your City On Demand is an app that lets travellers book local tours, activities, and experiences in different cities around the world. I came across this app by word of mouth from a friend. Users of this app Primary User: Travel vloggers/bloggers/enthusiasts who are new to the city. Secondary User: Local people or tourists who want to explore places and also avail exciting offers while doing so. Primary problem this app solves for users:

Headout app lets people find best tours, activities and attractions in a particular city for which they don’t have to depend on a tour guide. Making the whole process a lot more convenient.

Expectations from the App ➢

User Friendly – The app should be have a crisp and easy to understand UI.

Minimal amount of advertisements – The app should not bombard users with great amount of advertisements which end up confusing and irritating consumers.

➢

Excellent Search engine – If the user is not able to find what he/she is looking for then they should be able to find relevant information by inputting minimal amount of keywords.

Tour and deals description – App should provide clear information on tours and deals to the customer to make the experience more delightful.

Genuine review – App should contain verified and genuine reviews given by users.

➢

Seamless payment gateway – The payment gateway experience should be an hassle-free experience for the customer and should not involve multiple clicks and ages of load time.

Part 2 Analysis of the Product

Initial Impressions of the App On searching the app on Google Play store following details were found App Name and Title: Headout – Your City on Demand Description: Great experiences, last-minute access, best prices – all at the push of the button.

App Category: Travel and Local Suitable for: All age groups 100K + downloads

Ratings: 4.6/5 (Total 733 reviews) Reviews: Mostly users have given 5 stars, appreciating the interface and the travel/tour experience booked on this app.

UI/UX Analysis After downloading the app it allows you to choose a location you wish to travel to. Upon selecting the location the app takes you to the homepage where more description of that particular location/city is provided and the user gets to choose from three options 1. 2. 3.

Live entertainment Outdoor adventures City attractions

The app layout feeling is premium and the UI is clutter-free and doesn’t take much time to load either.

UI/UX Analysis The UI/UX is user friendly and details out features and offers clearly Decent search engine

Navigation is confusing at first and needs a little effort to get used to it. Words throughout the application are simple and easy to understand The balance between photographs and textual information is just about right

Equal distance between buttons and tabs make using the app on mobile quite easy Load time is not stable, sometimes Menu takes longer to load.

Analysis of the App Features ❖ The text is very well highlighted, user can differentiate between important and less important information also images and grids are aligned throughout the app. ❖ The headline column is hyperlinked and takes the user to the headline section of the particular category.

❖ The activities are well laid out and the reviews are genuine which give users confidence. ❖ After clicking on activities it gives the user an immersive experience which adds to the delight. ❖ Users are given appropriate suggestions and alternatives for what they are looking for.

❖ If you seem to be lost you can pick an activity which you can select based on your budget.

Recommendations for Existing Features Login Page Automatic detection of users account type(gmail, facebook, email, etc.) is missing in the app for regular users and sign-in process is the same as sign-up process in the app. Payment Payment options are limited, app should incorporate more payment options

Customer Support More customer support options should be available, currently only chat option is available and seeking resolution is difficult because of the hold time.

Suggestions for Additional Features Login page Login page should persist user data to some extent so that the whole signup activity is not to be performed while signing in Payment options Should include more payment options
