Starting as a Pentagon reporter, he was promoted to European-based International Editor in 2005, managing a team of aerospace writers from Beijing to London. Wall left Aviation Week in 2012 to report on Europe’s defense industry for Bloomberg News. He then worked at the Wall Street Journal from 2014-2023, first as a defense and aerospace reporter and later as Tech News Editor, based in Silicon Valley.
