Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the AviaDev team, a warm welcome to the Spice Islands of Zanzibar.
2025 marks the ninth edition of AviaDev Africa and this year’s event is our best attended to date, with 500 delegates registered.
In 2016, when Mala and I embarked on this journey, our ambition was to deliver a meaningful platform that offered the right mix of informal and facilitated networking and engaging content.
For us, the true mark of success is not simply a growth in numbers, but attendee satisfaction. I am delighted to see so many of you returning for another AviaDev.
For those joining us for the first time, a very warm welcome to the AviaDev Community.
AviaDev has not been provided with a mandate of any sort or asked to develop and support policy. Our role is simply to create an environment conducive to forging both business and personal relationships, whilst sharing best practices and knowledge.
Although we keep the industry connected through our regular podcasts, event attendance, YouTube videos and social media presence, bringing the industry together in person each year is a personal and professional highlight.
Even better is when we hear that as a result of enagagements at the event, new routes are being created, capacity is being added to an existing route and new stakeholder relationships are being formed. We plan and deliver over 1,300 pre-arranged meetings across the next two days – no small feat, but a fundamental part of the event.
Our conference programme has been curated and developed by our advisory board, made up of industry experts with a huge range of experience. The topics and speakers have been identified to offer thought-provoking, real experiences and ideas of how to move the industry forwards.
A special thanks to our hosts, the Zanzibar Airports Company and Zanzibar Commission for Tourism, plus our official carriers, Discover, Precision Air, JamboJet and Kenya Airways.
Our wonderful sponsors include a wide variety of service providers and OEMs from across the African continent and the globe. We appreciate their support in helping us achieve our ambition of a thriving African Aviation industry that is profitable for all stakeholders.
Finally, we are delighted to be able to deliver a sustainable conference. We have made a real effort to both minimise our impact on the environment, whilst maximising our impact on the local community with our annual charity run, ambassador and outreach initiatives.
I wish you a productive, energising and fun conference, and my team and I look forward to engaging with and supporting you over the coming days.
Your support means everything.
Warmest regards,
Jon Howell, CEO & Founder, AviaDev Africa

Liberalisation and deregulation of the airport industry have led to increasing competition. New airlines and business models have emerged. Airline structures have changed in such a way that competition is no longer exclusively between single carriers but between air traffic systems and their airports. In order to stay ahead in this new environment, an airport has to increase its efficiency and reduce cost by streamlining its operations, improving its decision-making, making better use of resources and, last but not least, by improving collaboration between the airport partners.
AirLink is an Airport Operational Database (AODB) Management System which helps you to realise this aim. AirLink provides the most accurate and real-time information to all stakeholders at and around the airport for day-to-day operations. It will provide your airport with an advantage over your competition.
The essence of our AODB Management System is to provide common, timely, accurate and reliable information to all airport partners by collaboration and sharing between the partners. Each of the airport partners will experience an improved situational awareness and the processes will become more predictable. This will result in three elementary operational benefits: improved flexibility, improved efficiency, and improved punctuality.
AirLink is a total airport management system that is designed and updated in continuous collaboration with regional airports. This web-based application brings numerous benefits at your airport, such as mobile access, cross-platform compatibility and seamless updates. The centralised database gives you real-time information, data integrity and security. The flexible and modular architecture of AirLink guarantees the right solution for your airport with excellent value for money.
