OPD Student Centerstage Sarah Baulac, Class of 2022 "The Office of Professional Development have been instrumental in kick-starting my law career. As a first generation college student without any ties to the legal field prior to attending Ave, I did not fully understand the breadth of options available to me as a practicing attorney.

The OPD has helped me explore potential career options and counseled me on opportunities to consider in order to fully take advantage of my time in school.

away feeling prepared with the tools that I need to succeed.

Most recently, the OPD supported me during my internship with Magistrate Judge Mac McCoy in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Their help didn’t stop when the application process ended. The OPD, Professor Ross, and, of course, my faculty advisor Professor Tenzer facilitated a supplemental externship course which greatly enhanced my time in chambers.

The comprehensive program encouraged me to reflect on my internship, set stretch goals, and create a plan for improvement.

Professional development is a continuous and serpentine journey. No entity is better equipped to support that expedition than the Ave Maria School of Law OPD."

Hello from Kate Holbrook, a 3L graduating in the spring! Kate became an ambassador for the Office of Professional Development because she felt that the department has so much to offer and many students do not know about or take advantage of those resources. Kate is most thankful to the OPD for the advice, networking events, and help with finding and excelling in her externship.

Meet Rebecca Long, a 1L and recently elected SBA senator for the Class of 2023! Her prior career was conducting security clearance background investigations on behalf of the federal government.

She lives in Tampa, FL with her children.

Greetings to Gahodery Cambry! She is a mother of three under the age of 10 and began her law school career this year. Gahodery is thrilled to have the privilege of helping Ave Law students succeed within law school and in their professional careers. She was born in Puerto Rico, earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale University, and has worked for over a decade as a Union Organizer. She looks forward to encouraging the student body to participate and take advantage of the resources OPD has to offer.

A warm hello from 3L Colleen Damrath. She became an ambassador for the Office of Professional development last year because the team played a major role in assisting her with determining her career goals. Colleen shared that what once seemed so scary, and overwhelming no longer did with the support of OPD staff. Colleen is grateful for the opportunity to work as an ambassador, and encourages students to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities the office will provide you throughout your law school career.

Welcome 1L Kristin Sanchez to the OPD Ambassador team! She just moved to Naples from Tampa and is interested in making connections with employers brought to campus to benefit the students. She also is looking forward to highlighting all of the opportunities OPD has to offer.

Say hello to Chelsea Lach, also a 1L! Originally from Florida, she spent time in Maine before moving back to Naples six years ago.

Chelsea looks forward to furthering connections with professionals and fellow students through her assistance to the Office of Professional Development in providing support to those in pursuit of their professional goals.
