YELLOW RIBBON PROGRAM Ave Maria Law is pleased to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program. The program allows approved institutions of higher learning and the Veterans Administration (VA) to partially or fully fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed the established thresholds under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Eligible military veterans can attend Ave Maria Law at little to no out-of-pocket costs for tuition and fees through a combination of their Chapter 33 (Post-9/11 GI Bill) veteran benefits and the Yellow Ribbon Program. In addition, eligible military veterans may receive a monthly housing stipend and an annual stipend for books and supplies directly from the VA. Alternative VA education benefits may also be available for students, such as Voc-Rehab, the Montgomery GI Selected Reserve Bill (Chapter 1606), Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP/Chapter 1607), Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30), and the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program (DEA/Chapter 35). For further information and eligibility visit https:// www.benefits.va.gov/GIBILL/index.asp Eligibility: • You are eligible for Yellow Ribbon if you qualify for the maximum benefit rate under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. • You may also be eligible if you’re the dependent of a veteran who qualifies for transfer of entitlement for the Post-9/11 GI Bill. How to Apply: • Log on to https://www.vets.gov/education/apply/#modal and apply for your Certificate of Eligibility (COE). • The VA will process the application in about 30 days and send you a COE. • Turn your COE into our Registrar’s office who will then certify your benefits.

VETERANS MEMORIAL LAW LIBRARY On December 7, 2016, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, the law school dedicated the school’s law library to veterans, renaming it the “Ave Maria School of Law Veterans Memorial Law Library.” Ave Maria Law created a Veterans Wall of Honor, located immediately inside the library’s front doors. As patrons enter the library, they are greeted by depictions of oversized service members in uniform, representing each of the five military branches. Benefactors, faculty, staff, students, and members of the community acquire plaques to place on the wall with the name of a veteran close to them. It enables family and friends to memorialize and honor their beloved veterans, keeping the memory of their service and sacrifice to our nation alive for many years to come.

Veteran Legacies at Ave Maria Law is a video tribute project meant to capture the essence of our fellow veterans and honor each of their military service experiences. Interviews range from student veterans, alumni veterans, staff and faculty veterans, Board of Governors veterans, friends and family of veterans and veterans from our local community.
