I am grateful for the opportunity I had during STAR Week to celebrate our techs in the field and thank some of you personally for the hard work and dedication you put into protecting our customers' infrastructure and our communities and for your commitment to our Journey to Zero I hope you continue to feel the appreciation and gratitude your leadership team and support staff have for you, not just during STAR Week, but every day

Thank you to all who completed the Work/Life Balance and Employee Experience surveys. Your honest responses, ongoing feedback, and shared ideas enable us to focus on making changes and improvements with the greatest impact for you, our customers, and the company. Keep them coming, and stay tuned for a recap of survey results and how they are driving change.

It's been a long, hot summer. As it comes to a close, and dig season winds down in many areas, we must maintain the intensity of focus on safety and quality as we work toward a strong finish of the year

STAR WEEK 2022 - WHAT A CELEBRATION!

For one week in early August, we gathered together in the communities we serve to celebrate our technicians and show our appreciation for their hard work, commitment to safety, and dedication to protecting our customers' infrastructure and our communities. STAR Week 2022 was a great success filled with community, good food, fun, and great prizes enjoyed by all!

The Tech Service Center, available 24/7, provides a single point of contact for tech support, questions on payroll and benefits, equipment and fleet needs, and more!

All employees* are eligible to earn referral bonuses! A BIG BIRTHDAY GREETING FOR A TEAMMATE WHO MAKES A BIG IMPACT EVERY DAY

West Texas and New Mexico Field Auditor, Trainer, and Safety Champion Clyde Jackson got a big birthday surprise while conducting a training class

"Clyde sends out daily messages to us all reminding us to stay safe and that USIC loves us," District Manager Jeramy Comyford described. "We wanted to celebrate his birthday in appreciation of everything he does and all the positive he brings to USIC."

WEST CHICAGO DISTRICT CELEBRATES FAMILY & SAFETY

Our 811 West Chicago District celebrated STAR Week with a focus on family. "We held a picnic for employees and their families, giving us the chance to show them they are all part of our USIC family," District Manager Paul Mastropieri explained "It was wonderful to see our work family outside of work and meet their families, whom they strive to get home safely to each day "

A CELEBRATION OF SAFETY

In May, the West Chicago District came together to celebrate the achievement of one year and 1.8 million miles driven with ZERO responsible vehicle accidents.

"We have come a long way in a year," Paul noted. "Our safety council has implemented contests. We discuss and follow up on dangerous events per hour (DEPH) every day, and we challenge each other to be the best Our techs and supervisors have a passion for safety, and we are all in this together "

Charlotte, NC Certified Damage Investigator Jay Pope gave a presentation on utility locating to fifth graders at Rama Road Elementary, the school his sons attend “Everyone was interested, wanted to know more, and asked when I could come back,” Jay described

Jay plans to begin making similar presentations to high school juniors and seniors at schools throughout Charlotte. “I know presentations like this could help expand kids’ minds on what they want in life, and learning about a trade is a great benefit for them and their future. I love working for USIC and enjoy kids, as they are our future, and I love to help our company grow by reaching potential future employees."
