VIN Match Pro Integration Complete! More Helpful Data to Make Your Job Easier.

Buddy Automotive Innovations has been serving well over 1,000 professional automobile recyclers across the U.S., Canada, and Australia for 20 years. Buddy Automotive was founded in July 2003 by Mike Lambert and John Johnson. Inventory Buddy and Bid Buddy are designed specifically for auto recyclers to make their businesses more efficient and profitable. We currently have two full-time sales reps and six full-time support technicians and over 1,400 Buddies in use today.

Bid Buddy Has Great Features that Create the Best Comprehensive Buying Tool in the Auto Recycling Industry

The Newest VIN Decoding Program That Will Enhance Your Bidding

VIN Match Pro decodes for over 80% of makes and models to help simplify the sales process and get critical data into auto recycler’s hands earlier in the sales discussion with customers. That means more sales opportunities and a level playing field with other part segments. They have sourced OE Build Data and are adding new data sources regularly to expand their coverage. For brands without OE Build Data, VIN Match Pro offers AI-enhanced VIN decoding that is far more comprehensive than any other options available. You can also compare two VINs and immediately see which components match and which components do not match. VIN Match Pro also provides a robust mileage history for any car using the VIN or license plate. Their mileage history tool uses repair and service data a well as registration data to give you the full picture of a vehicle’s mileage history.

Triple scoring technology lets you create your own custom buying profiles and name them yourself. You create the part table and set different counts weights and parts lists for different buying environments. Late model, body shop and U Pull are examples of custom buying profiles. Global Reruns in Bid Buddy will

show you every instance this VIN has been at auction. Bid Buddy retains the images from each auction run so you can see changes in condition. It helps you to know a little more about the vehicle before you buy it. Auction Parts and Pricing Service (APPS) lets you share your data with fellow auto recyclers to cooperate together and share the work done for auctions. Share at your comfort level with four levels of data-sharing options.

Inventory Buddy Now Integrated with VIN Match Pro Too!

The Newest VIN Decoding Program That Will Enhance Your Inventory Process

Vin Match Pro is now in the third-party settings on the Final Desktop Review. Just add your login and password and an abundance of VIN information will be at your fingertips when doing inventory. The report will download with the vehicle on the tablet and is sortable by keyword. Another image of the VIN report will attach to your vehicle when it uploads to your YMS. Pinnacle Pro Users Inventory Buddy can now import images into Pinnacle Pro and can attach images to a part now. All you need is a data export hardware (“chuck”) that imports the images from the FDR into your Pinnacle Pro database. VIN Match Pro is integrated in Bid Buddy and will import vehicle mileage. That data will transfer into Inventory Buddy soon after.

Inventory Buddy’s Loose Parts Audit is a powerful tool for performing a physical inventory of your warehouse stock. It can list all the parts expected at a location, and then you can mark each part as found or not found. This can be made even easier if your part tags are bar coded and you use a bar code scanner to scan each tab and mark them found automatically. After finishing a section, any parts not found, are marked for deletion. Audit is smart enough, that if you come across a missing part at a later location, it takes that previous delete and turns it into a move action instead. Parts Images in Loose Parts. Are you missing images on parts inventoried in your YMS? Use Loose Parts to add or replace an image to a part.

CONNECTING YOUR BUSINESS TO QUALITY

Gensco Equipment Offers Four Ways Auto Recyclers Can Thrive Under Stricter Environmental Regulations

Gensco mobilizes to help ELV facilities and auto recyclers find better ways to handle restrictions legislated to reduce the risks of pollution from the auto recycling process. Gensco’s thriving partnerships with trailblazing auto recycling equipment manufacturers places the company in a position to offer simple and economical equipment that can achieve profit growth while meeting legislative requirements.

In the past five years federal and state automotive recycling laws have changed dramatically.

In 2020, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) signed the Clean Air Act (CAA), which mandates that all states in the US control the release of harmful emissions into the air. This has led to increased pressure on US automotive recycling facilities to ensure environmental compliance in various areas, including depolluting end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) and implementing a Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan (SPCC).

State-specific regulations vary with the following states taking the lead:

n California – Strictest regulations under the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA), requiring detailed fluid management records.

n New York – Mandates zero-discharge policies for fluids at dismantling facilities.

n Texas – Requires licensed disposal facilities for hazardous waste.

n Florida – Strict stormwater management rules to prevent runoff contamination.

n Michigan – Enforces stringent used oil recycling laws under state hazardous waste guidelines.

How can auto recyclers remain competitive, profitable, and compliant? Here are four strategies that can help:

1. Utilize efficient equipment for dismantling and depollution. Consider systems like conveyors, lifts, racks, tilting clamp tables (allowing vehicles to be at various angles for part removal), and itemized drill pumps that can siphon and separate fluids, ensuring compliant containment without further handling. Specialized Battery Removal lifts.

2. Automate your processes. Implement software that records your activities in real-time, tracks fluid inventory, associates fluids with specific vehicles, and records license plates while shredding. For advanced automation, use robotic clamp tables that can be operator controlled with precision for rapid, touchless dismantling of valuable parts.

3. Enhance the value of collected materials. Invest in a highquality granulator/separator (wire chopping line) to increase the value of aluminum and copper from wire harnesses while lowering shipping costs. If you are recycling steel and aluminum rims, avoid using poorly made and unsafe rim crushers. They will crumble the aluminum down grading it’s value to “mixed aluminum.” Rather opt for a rim popper to retain their shape which improves buyer confidence and garners higher rates.

4. Manage fluids wisely. Choose depollution equipment that provides a clear view of the drained fluids and seamlessly directs higher grade fluids to a dedicated container. These fluids can be reused in your operational vehicles and machinery, sold at a higher rate, or used as employee incentives (free gas, washer fluid, and coolant). Even motor oil can yield a profit by using a Waste Oil Burner to heat your business, although it’s no longer fit for use in vehicles.

Gensco provides a wide range of purpose-built systems and equipment for recycling operations of various sizes to help facilitate strategies such as the ones we have discussed above. Their depollution equipment can:

• Recover gas, diesel, AdBlue, oil, Freon, and fluids.

• Deploy airbags safely, recovering LPG and NPG.

• Cut catalytic converter and shred license plates; and

• Provide high-precision vehicle dismantler grapples/clamps.

Hydraulic lifts with built-in drill drainage systems are designed for easy extraction, separation, and compliant storage of various fluids. Fluid and fuel quality can be assessed and either reused on-site or sold for revenue. Gensco also provides systems that are compatible with customer racks, ramps and lifts already in place.

Hydraulic clamping/tilting tables simplify the safe extraction of valuable parts from an ELV such as alternators, wire harnesses and catalytic converters, and the company provides the equipment to process these parts further and recover copper, palladium, platinum and rhodium.

Aligning your facility with Federal and State standards might require an initial investment and adjustment, but strategic investment will place you ahead of competitors as they scramble to meet increasing legislative and enforcement pressures.

Rebuilders Automotive Supply YOUR ONE STOP SHOP: Auto Cores • Catalytic Converters • Recalls

Rebuilders Automotive Supply is a multi-faceted company with three primary product lines: automotive cores, catalytic converters, and product recalls. All materials are primarily sourced from the automotive recycling industry through thousands of recyclers in the U.S. and Canada. These relationships have been forged over the course of 50 years since our founding in 1972.

RAS was recognized as “Supplier of the Year” by General Motors as one of its best global suppliers during GM’s 23rd annual awards ceremony. Suppliers from around the world received the award for going above and beyond GM’s requirements, designed to provide customers with the most innovative technologies and the industry’s best quality parts.

RAS technology offerings have set industry trends in part identification and include CorePro, Recalls, Catalytic Converters, RASBid, CorePro Mobile App, RASCAT App, CoreConnect, and URG.

Automotive Cores

As the largest independent automotive core company in the industry, RAS has over 40 product lines, 180,000 part numbers in inventory, and over three million cores processed annually. Rebuilders Automotive Supply is the number one full-line core supplier to the largest remanufacturers in the world.

RAS tools uniquely streamline all aspects of the automotive core evaluation and inventory process while maximizing core revenue.

Catalytic Converters

RAS has become one of the top processors of catalytic converters in the U.S. and Canada. We sell the material to the largest smelters. RASCATS APP converter data program is available exclusively for assay suppliers. Over 10,000 ID numbers at your fingertips and easily accessible from your mobile

phone, tablet, or desktop. RAS buys CATS by the piece, either at our buying doors in Rhode Island and Florida, shipping to Rhode Island or Florida, or from a road buyer. Each piece is checked-in by a member of our CAT Grading Team to ensure proper grading and pricing. Payment is made at the time of purchase, sent via check, wire, or ACH within three days of receipt.

Recalls

RAS serves as an exclusive U.S. buyback partner of defective Takata airbags for ten automakers (OEM’s), covering 23 makes, 145 models, and 16 years of model year coverage. Our extensive relationships with thousands of auto recyclers across the U.S. and Canada allows us to introduce and integrate technology so recyclers can instantly identify recalls through the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Recyclers are financially incentivized with a bounty for each airbag returned.

RAS has played a vital role by providing programs for awareness and education to the auto recycling industry on the identification, removal, packing, and shipping of these defective products. Our supply chain processes thousands of shipments each month as these airbags travel from recovery point to their final destination, where the airbag modules are destroyed. RAS has acquired, verified, and destroyed over 500,000 defective Takata airbags. RAS is proud of its role as a corporate citizen in facilitating the removal of these lethal products out of the salvage network, which ultimately saves lives.

Overall, RAS has evolved into a company that promotes the circular economy and the true essence of recycling. RAS has supported the auto recycling Industry since its inception, attending and sponsoring trade shows and conventions, participating in vendor panels, and advertising dollars for state and national trade publications.

ETE REMAN

Built for Recyclers, Backed by Experience

Allow us to introduce ourselves:

We are ETE REMAN, makers of the best remanufactured transmissions and drivetrain products in the world.

How do we know what recyclers want? We started out just like you! Our founder, Sam Loshak, started this business by accident… a car accident. Sam had an unfortunate encounter with another vehicle and worked nights and weekends at a salvage yard to pay for replacement parts. Just a few years later, Sam opened his own salvage yard. ETE REMAN eventually grew from the salvage yard into remanufacturing transmissions and engines, but we’ll never forget our roots.

Today, we are the largest reman transmission company in America. And with thousands of different reman transmissions, engines, transfer cases, and differentials, with more than 30,000 vehicle applications, you’re certain to find exactly what your customer needs at ETE. With our ever-growing distribution network and product offering, ETE REMAN has you covered.

Why ETE REMAN?

We don’t want to brag, but for you we’ll make an exception. ETE REMAN is known for product performance and service. This includes our products, customer service, BuyETE.com, our online catalog, and our industry-leading warranties.

Our customer service team prides itself on building relationships. We aren’t just a voice on the other end of the phone; we care about you! We provide quick and accurate service by call, email, or text, to help your business stay on track and get you all the answers and products you need quickly and efficiently. And for the fastest service, looking up part availability is fast and simple at BuyETE.com.

Recyclers know better than anyone how important speed and efficiency are for the business, and that’s where BuyETE.com comes in. ETE REMAN’s portal is there to serve YOU. We don’t want you to lose a customer because you can’t find price and availability information. That’s never a problem with BuyETE.com.

Rest assured, we stand behind every product we sell with our World’s Best, 3-year, Unlimited-Mile warranty for any ETE REMAN transmission, engine, transfer case, or differential we sell. That includes parts, labor, fluids purchased from ETE, and nationwide coverage. Plus, that warranty isn’t going anywhere. ETE REMAN’s warranties are attached to the VIN, so if your customer sells the vehicle, they are still covered!

Speaking of coverage, one of the biggest advancements that we’ve made this year is expanding our Milwaukee warehouse and logistics facility, and we have plans to open three new regional distribution centers strategically located throughout the US to provide faster delivery options and increase availability. All to better serve you, our customer.

We’d Love to Chat!

Want to learn more about ETE REMAN? We’d love to hear more about you! We’re here and happy to help! Check us out at ETEReman.com, BuyETE.com, shoot us a text, or give us a jingle at 800-934-9479! We’re looking forward to helping your business move forward.

Run Your Facility the YardSmart Way

Growing up as the third generation owner of the auto recycling yard is a source of pride for Troy Webber, CEO of Chesterfield Auto Parts and YardSmart. Originally, the company was Royal Wrecking Company, until his grandfather purchased it in 1947.

His love of all things automobile related has fueled his success as owner of Chesterfield Auto Parts and now with his new venture, CEO of YardSmart, a cloudbased comprehensive auto yard parts management system designed for self service operations, based in Richmond, Virginia.

“My Mom always says I was born with gears in my head! I have always loved cars and anything with an engine. When I was a kid I would spend all summer going to work with my Dad and playing around in the junkyard. There, I loved working on a junk car to get it up and running.”

YardSmart app is a SaaS product which is cross matched to any self-service yard, with customizable point of sale features for credit, cash and specific products. Options include extended warranties, labor services and aftermarket parts sales. Integrated pricing from several core buyers, it provides an operator the ability to track scrap and core sales and process the sale of cars from a resale lot. The app was in beta testing for two years with several yards, including Webber’s three locations, prior to its release in December 2022.

With three locations and 100 employees, Webber’s understanding of and need for a new technology and cloud-based software system, verged on becoming a crisis. The reason it was imperative to create a new way of managing and connecting the auto recycling business to the world, is because there is no effective software available to do what his self-service auto recycling operation required. Basically, Chesterfield operates differently than other auto recyclers, because it is a retail market. Individuals

from all over the world, search for custom and regular auto parts and go to them for their auto parts.

According to Webber, “My light bulb moment occurred when we understood that Microsoft would no longer support the latest version of Windows that our old software utilized.

“When we couldn’t solve the issues in that way, there was a rush to develop something new before all of our old computers died! That was the need that I was trying to fill. The clock was ticking, and if we couldn’t get something developed and in place soon, we would be stuck without an operating system.”

YardSmart employs a team of product managers, developers and engineers who regularly communicate with users about the features or any improvement they would like to see. A support team is available to assist with any issues or problems installing or utilizing the product.

With over a dozen yards in the YardSmart network and an average of two new clients signing up every month, YardSmart is quickly becoming the Yard Management System of the future. Being cloudbased means that YardSmart can quickly and easily integrate with other technologies in the business. It also makes it easy to get started because there is no set-up cost or hardware to buy. In a matter of hours your inventory and price list can be uploaded into your new YardSmart system.

As a hands on yard owner, Webber was able to identify the need, strategize with his team for solutions and pivot to make the changes a reality, and that is what he does best. “We have been able to survive because we have been willing to adapt. The only constant in the auto industry is change. Manufacturers make it a point to change and improve with every year and we have to be able to do the same if we want to be a part of this industry.”

FMaking Christian Connections in the Automotive Recycling Industry

or many years, I worked in the automotive recycling industry as a business owner. Most people knew me for my products and services, but few realized I was also a local pastor. I kept those roles separate. In business, I was Mike the recycler; at home, I was Pastor Mike. Over time, I discovered there were other believers in the industry, but like me, most kept a low profile. Unless faith came up in conversation, you’d never know. It felt like we were part of a “secret service” of Christians.

That’s when I realized how valuable it would be to create a way for believers in our industry to connect, encourage, and support one another.

The Birth of CARVA

After retiring, I started the Christian Auto Recyclers & Vendors Association (CARVA), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Some questioned it at first, asking, “Why do we need a religious group in this industry?” My answer: “Why not?” Christians in other fields gather for fellowship – the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Evangelical Christian Publishers Association, Christian Educators

Association, and many others. It made sense for us, too. Honestly, I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner.

What CARVA Does

CARVA’s purpose is simple: connect believers in the automotive recycling industry for fellowship and encouragement. We help each other represent Jesus well in both business and life. We provide gospel tracts and tools like our “People Can Be Recycled Too!” booklets and host early morning prayer meetings at trade shows and recycling events.

Join Us

If you’re a believer in this industry, we’d love to connect. Visit www.carva.group, fill out the contact form, and stay in the loop on upcoming events. And if you’re at a trade show, stop by and say hello!
