The Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), renowned for shaping diplomats and global policy experts, has unveiled a new campus in Astana, Kazakhstan, marking a key milestone in Russia’s higher education diplomacy.
The initiative enhances international cooperation in the field of international relations, economics, and diplomacy across the Eurasian region.
Academic Highlights
The Astana branch is established at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, with an inaugural batch of 103 students who received their student IDs on November 1.
The ceremony was graced by MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov and Kazakhstan’s Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, symbolizing a strong bilateral partnership.

Bachelor’s Degrees

Students in bachelor’s programs will spend two semesters at MGIMO’s main Moscow campus, while master’s students will complete one semester there giving them true cross-border exposure.
Strengthening Regional Academic Collaboration
This is MGIMO’s second international campus, following the one in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, further expanding its global footprint. The new location aims to make Astana a hub for Eurasian education and diplomacy, supporting next-generation leaders in global governance, finance, and technology.
