Why Anti-Static/Conductive?
Anti-static or conductive wheels are designed to dissipate or prevent the build-up of static electricity, which can be potentially hazardous in certain industrial environments.
Industries
Anti-static or conductive wheels are used in environments where there is a concern of electrical charge build up, which may cause a spark resulting in a fire or explosion. Particularly in electronics manufacturing, medical and pharmaceutical and automotive.

Most popular ranges
Series 53AE
Suitable for indoor and outdoor usage on trolleys with light duty loads. Earthing resistance below 0.1m ohm in accordance with ISO22878:2004. Commonly used for waste and recycling bins.
Series 62RE
Can be used in potentially explosive areas and ESD sensitive environments. Robust with excellent rolling resistance and elasticity. Even wheels with small diameter can easily handle heavy loads.
Series 68C
Intended mainly for medium-heavy capacity static use. Excellent rolling resistance means minimal manual effort is required when handling (on smooth surfaces). Does not handle obstacles well.
Solutions with specific conductive electrical resistance
Plastic materials, rubbers and elastomers commonly used in the wheels and castors sector are generally isolating and therefore non-conducting. Therefore, they do not allow the static possibly built on the trolley or equipment to be conducted to the ground.
The built up static can potentially compromise the functionality of sensible electrical equipment transported on the trolley and potentially trigger explosions in environments at risk.
Hence, wheels and castors made of those materials may not be fit for potentially explosive areas and for ESD sensible environments.
Tellure Rôta propose customised castor solutions with modified electrical resistance to comply with the electric conductivity guidelines for ESD applications, whose specifications are shown on the following pages.
Tellure Rôta do recommend to thoroughly assess the requirements of the final user and to compare them with the castor specifications in order to prevent any risk of damage.
As the electrical resistance can be altered by the conditions of the tread or by the environment, we also recommend a maintenance of the castors to inspect the electrical resistance at regular intervals (depending on the environment of use) not to exceed a 3 months period.
The main norms of reference for wheels and castors with specific electrical resistance are:
• ISO 22878:2004 which defines the methods of measuring the electrical resistance of wheels;
• ISO 22883:2004 which defines the range of the electrical resistance;
• IEC 61340-5-1:2007 which includes the general guidelines for protection of electrical devices from electrostatic events.

Grey statically conductive polyurethane tyre with grey plastic centre, ball bearing
° Electrically conductive grey non-marking thermoplastic polyurethane tyred wheel

° Ball bearing bore. Bearings supplied with 2RS waterproof protection as standard. Quiet, easy running.
° Scratch and tear resistant. Suitable for internal and external use e.g. concrete, ceramic tiles, asphalt etc. Not suitable for rough terrain. Suitable for use where alcohol, hydrocarbons, solvents and weak acids are present. Suitable in a wet environment.
° Not recommended for use with strong bases.
Indicated for trolleys with light-duty loads, mainly for indoor use; the grey non-marking rubber tyre makes it suitable for use on fragile floors and also in domestic/institutional environments. Excellent rolling resistance guarantees minimum effort in manual handling.
It does not stain or damage fragile floors. Suitable for tiles and cementresin. Not recommended on abrasive, unpaved floors or in presence of processing residues.

The product is designed for potentially explosive areas and for ESD sensible environments. Combines the load capacity and resistance to wear and tear of the polyurethane with the ability to overcome obstacles and dampen noise, vibrations and impacts on the elastic rubber.

Suitable for all types of industrial floors, even outdoors. Facilitates the overcoming of obstacles. It does not damage the floors.
