Guess who's back in town?

Mal Leyland is most famously known for his role on the popular Australian television show, Ask the Leyland Brothers.

The program ran from 1976 through to 1984 with 153 episodes in total and 2.5 million viewers tuning in at its peak.

Mal and his brother Mike were the first to film Uluru in the wet, the first to drive across Australia from our western-most to eastern-most points, and the first to travel the entire length of the Darling River in a small boat.

This all happened in the days prior to mobile phones, Steve Irwin, the Bush Tucker Man and even David Attenborough!

The Leyland Brothers were true pioneers of outback documentary film making. The show focused on receiving letters from the public, then the brothers would visit the places, filming their adventures along the way. The series provided a way for city dwellers to experience the Australian outback from the comfort of their lounge rooms.

More recently, Mal has toured the country talking about his adventures and will be returning to his old stomping ground, Newcastle in July. Mal will be onsite at the 2019 Newcastle Outdoor Adventure and Motoring Expo to catch up with the locals, tell a few yarns, and answer questions about his amazing story.
