JUNE 8, 1978 - APRIL 12, 2025
t was with a heavy heart that the Austin Prep community learned of the passing of Mr. Stephen Williams, a longtime member of Austin Prep’s Mathematics and Art and Design Departments, on April 12th. Mr. Williams joined the Austin Prep community in 2008, and had a tremendous impact on the lives of countless students who had him as a math teacher or mentor in the musical and performing arts.
Mr. Williams greatest impact will be the memories that he helped shape for numerous students, faculty, family, and friends as a result of his contributions to the arts at Austin Prep. Mr. Williams served as the musical director for countless school musicals and school masses, often times leading the performances with his master piano playing ability. He connected with every student, regardless if they were first-time members of the choir or a lead in the annual school musical. Perhaps Mr. Williams’ most memorable achievement at Austin Prep was serving as the choir director for two Austin Prep pilgrimages to Rome, where students performed at some of the most sacred churches in the Eternal City and sang in the Piazza San Pietro for Pope Francis.
In your kindness please continue to keep Mr. Williams and the entire Williams family in your prayers as we mourn and remember the teacher who had a profound impact on our school community.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

A Lifetime of Memories
s each year comes to an end, every Senior looks back at all of the memories that they have experienced A at Austin Prep. This is especially special for the Seniors that have been here since 6th grade - otherwise known as ‘lifers’ Many of the lifers have made lifelong friends from the day they walked in the doors and became a part of the Austin Prep community. Lauren Ouellette ’25 commented, “Austin Prep truly isdike a home away from home. I’ve met people here that J.can call family and I am grateful that this schoolhas brought them to me.” Not all of these friendships started in the classroom. Owen Sperling ’25 reflected, “My favorite middle school memory was the bus ride on the 6th grade field trip where I met one of my best friends.” All it took was sitting next 4 to anew classmate on a bus for a great friendship to begin. When Tezza Galletta ’25 looked back at her time at Austin Prep, she commented, “AP means to me that there is community that provided a stepping stone for me to get where I am today and for college.” Lifers had the unique opportunity to experience Austin Prep from 6th grade through Senior year. Growing up together, they formed a strong, lasting bond that sets them apart.

Family Ties
t Austin Prep, we deeply value the importance of fostering a community that feels like family. Every year, sibling pairs, trios, and sometimes even quartets not only solidify the community of Austin Prep, but also strengthen their bond together through our school community. Max Betts ’25 reflected on how Austin Prep has brought him closer together with his brother, Griffin Betts ’28. “Griffin and I have always been very close, but I do feel that going to Austin together has made us closer,’ Max shared. “Being a Senior and having gone through the same classes that Griffin is currently taking or will take has helped me empathize with him. can help to prepare him for the things found difficult and give him advice on what classes he might want to take in the coming years.” In addition to the academic advice, having someone you love spending time with around the school is a great way to lift your spirits at any moment. Griffin said that seeing his brother around the halls is always a reassuring feeling.“It makes my day brighter when I get to walk into Max’s advisory randomly or when see him in the hall and can give him a funny look,” he remarked. “It’s nice to see him around and know he’s there if need him.” The bonds between siblings and families at Austin Prep bring the values of Unitas and Caritas to life, creating a school community that feels like home.

To the Class of 2025,
here was a truly unique moment at your graduation liturgy. Father Arthur D. Johnson, O.S.A., one of Austin Prep’s founding Friars from the Order of St. Augustine, was the main celebrant. Assigned as a newly ordained Friar, Father Art literally opened the doors of Austin Prep when students arrived in September 1963. He has beena consequential part of Austin Prep’s “restless” journey for more than 60 years and no other person in the School’s history can match Father Art’s abiding presence and support.
The night before your graduation, Austin Prep hosted the Class of 1975 on campus for dinner to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their graduation from Austin Prep. Father Art was with us to welcome the Golden Cougars. These men marveled at how great their Austin Prep education was and, of course, were beyond delighted to see their biology teacher, Father Art. Some had not seen him in 50 years.
During the alumni reunion, Father Art shared that, despite more than 60 years of service to Austin Prep, he had never celebrated a graduation mass before and the baccalaureate mass for the Class of 2025 would be his first. It only took 62 years for that to happen!
In the conversations I had with the alumni from the Class of 1975, they expressed deep appreciation for the education they received at Austin Prep, but more than that, they also reflected on how well prepared they were for life beyond 101 Willow Street and how grateful they were for what they acquired from the Augustinian way of life. For them, it became a sturdy foundation for their life’s endeavors. Fifty years later, as Austin Prep’s Class of 2025 continues its journey, you are equally prepared to master the endeavors and the challenges you will face on the journey ahead.
A consequential part of your readiness is the unique formation you have received through the Augustinian way of life. You know veritas, unitas, and caritas. You know Interiority, to find the word of God in stillness. You know
that you were made by God, for God, and that our journey ahead back to God will be a restless one. You know these things because they have been imprinted on your heart - and because they are in your heart, you will have them always at amoment’s notice when you need to find the way or when you have an opportunity to do your part to make our world more loving and more just.
The Augustinian way of life dates back nearly 1,700 years to St. Augustine — a towering figure in human history who offered commentary and opinion on just about everything. St. Augustine wrote more than five million words. His teachings are nearly seventeen centuries old, but the wisdom of St. Augustine is timeless and the Augustinian virtues of veritas, unitas, and caritas — truth, unity, and love - will always be needed to prevail against the lies, division, and hate that all too often manifests in the world.
In the final weeks of your senior year, God called an Augustinian Friar to become Pope. Cardinal Robert Prevost, O.S.A. was elected Pope Leo XIV. When he stepped onto the balcony as the new Pope, it felt like member of the immediate family was elected as the successor of St. Peter. We felt this way because Austin Prep shares in the Augustinian way - the same way of life that Pope Leo shares. And like Pope Leo XIV, you are sons and daughters of St. Augustine.
You are the Lord’s cavalry. We need your energy. We need you to be fearless. We need you to manifest the compassion of the Good Samaritan for those in need. We need you to build bridges. We need you to model the Lord’s commandment “to love one another as I have loved you.” In the same way that Pope Leo’s formation as an Augustinian will inspire his journey and his leadership as our Holy Father, I’m also confident the Augustinian charism will guide you in the right ways in the days ahead.
You have been given God’s grace to go confidently into the future and pursue the life you have imagined. As you journey towards your 50th class reunion (and beyond), keep in mind the words of St. Augustine: “For grace is given to us not because we have done good works, but in order that we may be able to do them.”
God bless you all,

his year we had many exciting things happening during the fall. We had a wonderful sports season with many hard-earned victories. When asked about how she was triumphant on the Volleyball court, Vanessa Privitera ’25 responded, “The fact that everyone was always so supportive and encouraging helped me be the most successful. Anytime was in my head, the girls around me were able to help me regain my confidence and push myself to be better.” This fall, every sports team shared a strong sense of unity and closeness, allowing them to work together seamlessly and achieve great success. The Arts Department also had a great start with their show, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon. “With a cast of such a wide range of ages and therefore, a wide range of personal humor, it was amazing to see how all of the actors worked together to make the show funny and enjoyable for any audience member,” said Lily Fix ’25. The students in the cast of this show wowed the audience with their outstanding humor and acting. Finally, one of the most exciting things about this time of year for the Seniors is the annual Disney trip! Lily Amari’25 stated, “My favorite part of the trip was getting to spend time with my friends outside of the classroom and in a fun environment like Disney. It was also my first time going, so being able to be surrounded by my friends in a new environment was amazing!” Disney capped off what was a fantastic start to the year for Austin Prep!

Couvecation
onvocation is a cherished tradition at Austin Prep, bringing together students, faculty, and community members to mark the official start of the academic year. This year, we welcomed Father Robert Hagan, O.S.A., Augustinian Prior Provincial of the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova, to lead the liturgy. The Mass began with a speech from school-wide President Janna Vounessea ’25, who introduced this year’s school theme. Janna shared, “The theme of the year being ‘Anchored in Christ, We Venture in Hope’ inspired my speech for Convocation. This theme inspired me to talk about how while the community of Austin Prep is our support system, Jesus Christ is our main support system, and he will always be anchored with us. This was my favorite part because it tells the students they are always someone in this community, whether it’s friends, teachers, faculty, or Jesus Christ.” Another key moment was the carrying of class flags, a tradition that reflects both unity and class pride. Catherine Antonelli ’26 reflected, “I was very honored to have the opportunity to carry the 2026 class banner at Convocation this year. Iam beyond proud of my class for all of their hard work and success. was grateful to be able to represent them at Convocation.” Convocation is a cherished tradition and a meaningful way to begin the new school year.

Honoring Heroes
na heartfelt November morning at Austin Prep, the school community gathered for the annual Blue Mass, an event dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who serve as first responders. The Mass, attended by firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical personnel from local communities, was led by Most Reverend Cristiano Barbosa, Auxiliary Bishop of Boston, who spoke to the deep significance of recognizing these everyday heroes. The Mass was a moment of reflection and gratitude, particularly for those first responders who serve our community without hesitation or expectation of recognition. Reader Caroline Forlizzi’27 shared her thoughts on the importance of the event, “Honoring the first responders during this Mass is important because of all that they do for us every day,’ she remarked. “I think we should recognize that.” For many in the crowd, it was an emotional moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by these individuals. Gabriella Leo ’27 says her favorite part about being a reader at the Mass was to personally give back to the first responders. “I enjoyed being able to give back to the Austin Prep community in a way where we honored the first responders and practiced our faith,” she commented. The Blue Mass at Austin Prep served as an important reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the first responders in our community.

The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon
An Enchanting Night
his year’s production of The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon was a standout performance brought to life by an exceptionally talented cast. Directed by Ms. Katherine Clark, this play brought a whirlwind of stories, each more enchanting than the last. From the mischievous antics of Hansel and Gretel to the cunning of The Twelve Brothers, the cast transported audiences into the fantastical world of talking animals, wicked witches, and brave heroines. Maggie Carroll ’27 reflected on her experience in the play, “I loved how Ms. Clark included such a diverse age group in the cast which made the play 100 times more meaningful and fun to put together. It was extra special to have this experience with my younger sister, Charlotte, who continues to help me throughout my theater pathway (as I do with her).”” When asked about her favorite parts of the show, Lily Fix *29 stated, “The highlight of the Brothers Grimm rehearsals for me was connecting with the rest of the cast and working through different comedic options of the show. Laughing with younger cast mates and watching them fall in love with performance the way I did when I was introduced to the program warmed my heart and made the rehearsals fun.” Overall the production was a hit with hundreds of audience members coming to see the performances. Congratulations to the cast and crew!

etween arts, sports, and other events, the Austin B Prep community stays active all winter. The season’s festivities include the annual Nutcracker performance, with students involved both on stage and behind the scenes. “The Nutcracker represents Austin Prep by showing that everyone at our school can come onto the stage. More than half of the dancers on stage aren’t actual dancers — we have football players, baseball players, and so many dancers from groups far from dance. It really represents the Austin Prep community,” Imogen Moro ’25 shared. Just before Christmas break, the community gathers in Meelia Hall for Lessons & Carols, where the band and choir perform holiday classics that bring everyone into the festive spirit. Beyond the arts, the winter athletic season was marked by success and strong team bonds. “The camaraderie of our team helped me be more successful,” said Aaden Caralis ’25 of Boys Swimming. “Because we were such a small team, everyone was super close.” That closeness paid off—his teammate, Alex Barone ’27, won two events at the NEPSAC Division 2 Championships. Additional highlights included the Girls Basketball team advancing to the NEPSAC Class AA postseason, the Girls Hockey team reaching the semifinals of the Vaillancourt Conference tournament, the Girls Ski team claiming the Central Mass Ski League title for the third consecutive year, and August Doetsch ’25 qualifying for two events at the Indoor Track & Field Nationals. The success from the athletic teams stems from the hard work the athletes put in throughout the season. Dancing Into the Season
Sh his December, Austin Prep put on their annual Nutcracker performance at the Collins Center in North Andover. It is a tradition adored by students, teachers, parents and alumni. The show is performed over two nights, however, months of rehearsal and preparation go into the show. Not only was school time devoted to the show, but performers came in after school and on weekends to make the performance fabulous. When asked what preparation for The Nutcracker was like, Maddie D’Angelo ’27, who performed as Clara, explained, “Preparing for The Nutcracker was a lot of hard work, but it was a lot of fun! Our weekend rehearsals were super productive while also being a good way to connect with other dancers and friends!” Traditional dancers weren’t the only ones involved in The Nutcracker—people from all areas of the school contributed significantly to bringing the show to life. Alex Fernandes ’25, who was cast as The Nutcracker for the first night, remarked, “The Nutcracker represents Austin Prep because it takes Unitas to complete the show. It takes everyone to make the show possible.” The 2024 Nutcracker was once again a hit, and the school is counting down the days until the next one.

These events bring the Austin Prep community together, celebrating the season’s themes of love, family, and faith through carols and student-read lessons. The performers enjoy the show just as much as the audience. “I like showing off what we have been working on behind the scenes to the wider school community,” percussionist Nicholas Kuntz ’25, conveyed. He continued, “It’s important for members of the community to be fully aware of what is going on outside of their typical commitments.” The event also strengthens bonds among band and chorus members, uniting them as one voice.
“When we spend so much time together rehearsing, I think it shapes us to be really close,” remarked chorus member Bella Bianco ’27. “The choir is like a family to me, just like a sports team to an athlete.” This year’s performance filled the halls of Austin Prep with holiday spirit!

he Boys Indoor Track & Field team had a strong season, marked by personal bests and a growing sense of unity. It was especially memorable for the Seniors and Captains who helped lead the team to new milestones. August Doetsch ’25 broke school records in the 400m, 600m, and 800m, while Leonardo Centinaro ’25 set records in the 55m, 60m, and 200m. Reflecting on the season, Doetsch shared, “The highlight of my season was at New Balance Indoor Nationals when I ran the 800m. I got a PR, and I got to watch the championship 800m right up close afterward. It was a great conclusion to my last Indoor season as a high schooler.” Despite the success, the team faced challenges, including having to practice indoors due to harsh winter weather. Centinaro noted, “I think running inside, although uncomfortable at times, helped us all grow. We were in a confined space and socialized and grew as a tight-knit community due to this and I will cherish it.” The season’s challenges ultimately brought the team closer, creating lasting memories and a strong bond.

pring at our school is more than just a season, it is a is time for memories that last a lifetime. Whether it’s the adrenaline rush of stepping onto the stage, the friendship of teammates rallying for a win, or the honor of achieving an academic milestone, these moments shape who we are. For Maggie Caroll ’27, starring in High School Musical was a dream come true. “There’s something special about the feeling you get knowing that in just a few hours, a crowd will be cheering for you,” she ——~ said, reflecting on the excitement of opening night. Izzy Henderson ’25 remembers the incredible energy on the softball field during their championship win. “The team
was hyped the whole entire game, and we came back by six!” she recalled, a testament to their hard work and dedication. And for Jamey Bergeron ’25, being named Valedictorian was a proud moment, finalizing years of | effort. “I was happy to be able to tell my family, who I knew would be very proud,” Jamey shared. As the school year comes to a close, these spring moments remind us that success isn’t just about the end result, but about the memories, teamwork, and passion that gets us there.

History Comes Alive
I: March, the 8th grade class took a meaningful and exciting trip to Washington, D.C., where they explored historical landmarks, deepended friendships, created new bonds, and experienced unforgettable moments. One of the most powerful events of the trip was thewreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where students Alex Killilea ’29, Sonya Vaysman "29, Myles McEwen ’29 had the honor of participating in. “When I found out that I was picked for the wreath laying ceremony, I was extremely honored, I was slightly scared, because I knew it was a big responsibility,” said Vaysman. Killilea shared, “One thing I learned was the importance of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and its significance to American history.” Along with sightseeing and learning about American history, students found joy in the social side of the trip. The much-anticipated dance was a highlight for many, offering a chance to have fun and celebrate with friends after busy days of touring. Overall the D.C. trip gave students memories and knowledge that they will never forget!

A Night Of Music
[: May, the Austin Prep Band & Choir students gathered together for a special performance. Months of hard work and dedication shone through the students during a night to remember. Both ensembles showcased their strong talents through a range of songs, including the fan favorites Edelweiss and Rainbow Connection. The concert was especially unique because it was a collaboration between the Upper and Middle School, helping to foster a community between grades. When reflecting on her last Austin Prep performance, Reagan Mercier ’25 stated, “I love spending time with the Choir. We’ve grown into such a close group and the feeling of camaraderie and family is so strong. My favorite memory of the show was definitely singing ‘Closer to Fine’ with all the Seniors. It was such a special moment and the perfect end to our time together in the Choir.” Preparing for the concert took several months, but the students emphasized how much the group bonded over the course of the year. The concert was not just a performance; it was a celebration of friendship, music, and community in the Austin Prep Band & Choir program.

High School Musical
Talent and Teamwork
A Austin Prep’s Theatre Department hit the stage this year with High School Musical, the play, directed by Ms. Clark. The show brought energy, fun, and a lot of hard work from a dedicated cast. Shane Stuart "26, who played Coach Bolton, said the hardest part was “trying to act and come across as a believable adult/father figure to my friend/classmate Anthony” Still the experience was full of joy. “We were all like family. I enjoyed the camaraderie with my fellow classmates,” he continued. Magdalen Carroll ’27, played Kelsi Neilson, the shy composer. Though she plays piano in real life, she found it tricky to fake-play on stage. “My Grandma and Grandpa congratulated me on how well I played... it made me laugh letting them know that was not the case,” she shared. This shows that the play requires real acting, and talent. With great assembly from Ms. Clark and a close-knit cast, High School Musical was a memorable experience that celebrated friendship, creativity, and school spirit.

Dancing Into Spring
his year the dancers in the Spring Show blew the audience away with their outstanding performance. Each dancer put so much effort and time into their dances and it was extremely noticeable on stage. This hard work was celebrated by all of the dancers as they cheered each other on. Catherine Antonelli ’26 remarked, “We always hype each other up before going on to perform. Oftentimes, before going on for group dances, there are people waiting on both sides of the wings. For this reason, we wave and jump to communicate and excite one another from across the stage.” There were also many seniors in the show who have put their whole hearts into the program and it was finally their chance to be celebrated for their hard work and dedication. Victoria Liwanag ’25 added, “I was most excited to take my final bow with the program that allowed me to keep dancing throughout these past four years.” The spring show was a huge success this year and it was definitely well earned!

T he Swamp Boys had another season of success. They battled the most fierce teams in New England, coming up dominant in almost all of their games. The team traveled across the region to face a variety of NEPSAC opponents, while also playing spirited and exciting home games—made possible by the incredible support of the Baseball Operations Program. With having such a large roster, it’s important that they all supported one another in their successes. When asked about the highlight of his season, Alex Fernandes ’25 described, “One of the highlights is that my season would have to be hitting the go-ahead home run to put us in the lead against Dexter. It was an unreal feeling and my teammates had my back the second I stepped foot on home.” The team’s culture is an essential part of the team’s achievements and it even helped to win the Independent School Cup after two close games against Mount Saint Charles. Through all of the excitement and nerves of the season, the team never lost sight of their faith. When asked if the team has any traditions or rituals before games Nicholas Genese ’25 explained, “Before every game, our favorite tradition is team prayer.” This helps the team stay centered and remember why they are playing. The season wrapped up on a high note with Bradley McCafferty receiving the prestigious Gatorade Player of the Year Award for Massachusetts. Excitement is already building at Austin Prep for next season!

he Girls Softball team had another strong season, going up against some of | the toughest competition in the NEPSAC and finished with an impressive record. The team relied on high and positive energy throughout their games, as was necessary to come out on top and to win as an entire unit. When asked what aspect of the team helped her to be the most successful, Sophia Collins ’25 explained, “Our team really worked on being able to go to one another to be lifted up, not put down. When everyone on the team is positive and has good attitudes it is so easy to always keep your head up even after making mistakes.” The team ended their season with a huge win against one of their biggest rivals that had beaten them earlier in the season. They played against Mount Saint Charles in a three-game series for the Independent School Cup and ultimately came out on top. The team did particularly well at away games, as they were able to prepare for the game as a team on the bus rides there. When asked what helped the team grow closer, Nora Matthews ’25 remarked, “Bus rides really brought us closer as a team. Hyping each other up before away games, dancing and singing really got the energy up before we would even start.” Overall, the team’s positive and energetic community reflected on their triumphant season.

Allin, All Season
his season for the Boys Lacrosse team was more than just about the wins and losses, it was about the bond that formed through the grind. As Braeddon Dyment "26 put it, “The boys bonded a lot when we did conditioning at practice. With the number of games we had, it felt like win or lose, we needed to have each other’s backs, and that helped us grow closer over the season.” That camaraderie carried beyond the field, from joking in the hallways to showing up as a united front on game day. Traditions played a key role in the team’s spirit. “Our favorite pre-game ritual was blasting music and putting on eye-black,” Mark-Henry Novas ’26 shared, “Warren [Dubois] and Sal [Prezioso] always went all out, and soon it became our thing, waiting at the locker room door, yelling and hyping each other up.” It wasn’t just superstition, it was a burst of energy and unity before every face-off. One unforgettable highlight? Landon Bentley ’26 recalled, “The highlight of my season was going to the beach with the team before playing Greens Farms Academy.” That moment captured the essence of this year’s squad: focused, fun-loving, and fiercely together. From locker room chants to off-field laughs, the team left it all out there, proving that heart, hustle, and brotherhood make for a season to remember.

When Shane Stuart ’26 was asked about the challenges he faced this season, he remarked, “The NEPSAC conference is highly competitive, but we keep fighting and battling through a lot of adversity throughout the season. his April, Austin Prep Juniors and Seniors their uniforms in favor of tuxes and dresses a “Gleam and Glow” themed prom. The magic night of dancing, photo-taking and bonding between the students lit up the end of the school year with amazing memories for all. In the beautifully decorated room complete with a photo booth, 360-video camera, a crowded dance floor, and an ice cream sundae bar, students danced the night away and soaked in one of the final shared events of the school year. For members of the Class of 2025, this was a very special moment, as it marked one of their final celebrations together before their graduation in May. “It felt like I had checked the last box off my list of last high school events before graduation,” remarked Avery Emerton ’25. “And I realized how close we were to the end.” As the exciting night came to a close, the final song, “Mr. Brightside,” drew everyone to the floor, capturing the bond of the classmates and friends. “I think the final song was the biggest part for me,” Tait O’Koniewski ’25 reflected. “It was a great ending to a fun night.” Thank you to the amazing student council; teachers, and administrators who made this unforgettable Prom possible!

Around the World
ustin Prep offered several trips for students traveling to Québec, Japan, A and Bermuda. The first trip, to Québec, took place in November at the end of French Week and focused on touring the area with students and gave them an opportunity to learn about culture and relax with friends. Highlights of the trip included a trip to the Sugar Shack, exploring Montmorency Falls, and getting to see downtown Québec. The two other trips, to Japan and Bermuda, took place over Spring Break, allowing for longer trips. The Japan trip focused on culture, and Jasmine Labriola ’26 discussed some of her takeaways, “My favorite part of the trip was, by far, [Tokyo] Disney. It was really fun to spend time with my friends and I definitely made memories there that I won’t forget anytime soon.” In addition to going to Disney, students rode a bullet train, learned about Japanese robotics, and visited ancient temples in Kyoto. Meanwhile, students in Bermuda focused on marine science, researching topics like eDNA, plankton, and ocean acidification. Abby Ventullo ’27 explained the advantages of doing Marine Biology in Bermuda, “Working... in Bermuda gave me so many science experiences that I would’ve never thought of. Since Bermuda is in the middle of the ocean, there are so many species that you can’t find in the States.” Overall, all three trips run by Austin Prep helped students become more cultured and were great successes!

Mission & Juclusion
Making a Difference through Mission
his year, Austin Prep deepened its commitment to Mission & Inclusion through a series of powerful events that brought Augustinian values to life. Friendship, a core part of our school through Unitas, guided a visit from Dr. Mary Jane Rein of Assumption University’s Center for Civic Friendship. In sessions with AP Government and American Experience students, Dr. Rein explored how civil discourse can bridge ideological divides, reminding us through the lens of St. Augustine that authentic connection begins with respect and mutual understanding. Students also attended the 2024 National Center for Race Amity Conference at UMass Boston, where they engaged in powerful dialogue around unity, equity, and social responsibility. “It was an eyeopening experience to just how many problems our society faces,” reflected Aiden O’Neill ’25. “It reminded us how much we can change if we put in the effort as a community.” In celebration of Black History Month, students welcomed the Floor Lords, an award-winning Boston-based hip-hop crew, who shared the rich history of hip-hop culture and its role in community empowerment. Through performance, storytelling, and dance instruction, they demonstrated how art can foster inclusion and global citizenship. Students also had the opportunity to participate in Girls In Leadership Summit programs, where they had the chance to grow their proficiency in art, STEM, and athletics. “It was a really amazing opportunity to network and learn more about the fields I’m interested in from people with first hand experience,” commented Lizzie Jones 25, who participated in the STEM program. Later in the year, Dr. Joseph Cooper inspired students with his CARE leadership model, urging them to lead with courage, appreciation, respect, and a drive to elevate others. His message is deeply aligned with Austin Prep’s mission: to form leaders who serve with purpose and love.

Cougar Commitments
ustin Prep students have the opportunity to participate in two different clubs, on Days 3 and 7. These clubs meet during Cougar Block for about 30 minutes, where they discuss different topics, talk about upcoming events, and participate in different fun and engaging activities. Keira Welch ’25 commented on what she likes about clubs, “I like that clubs at Austin Prep offer an outlet for students to explore their interests and sharpen their skills, such as debate and speaking skills” Beyond personal growth, clubs also provide a way for students to make an impact. The Best Buddies Club, for example, supports children with disabilities. Lauren Ouellette ’25, who is the co-moderator, shares why she joined, “I thought that the club stood fora great cause because kids with disabilities do not receive the amount of support they need, especially in public school” Overall, clubs at Austin Prep offer students a chance to learn, develop new skills, and contribute to meaningful causes—all while having fun.

Giving Back with Style
pirit Week at our school is more than just fun and dress-down days, S it’s a celebration of community and giving back. Three times a year students get to participate in themed dress-down days for $20, with all proceeds going to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This year, the student body came together to raise an incredible sum of $37,804 for the cause. Additionally, we raised $7,211 for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to help support those impacted by the tragic wildfires in the greater Los Angeles area. Each Spirit Week ends with a highenergy pep rally, where students wear their class colors: green for middle school, pink for freshmen, red, white, and blue for sophomores, white for juniors, and black for seniors. Sailet Galvis ’25, who also helps plan the themes, shared, “Everyone comes together, and it just feels so hype with all the cheers and performances.” At each pep rally, seasonal sports teams perform dances or routines, often including a fun acidity also to engage the crowd. “My favorite part of the pep rally is the team dances, because we get to see athletes from all throughout the school perform,” said Michael Brosnan ’26. Spirit Week is a time to celebrate school pride, unity, and generosity-values our school truly lives out.
