iblings are a very crucial part of the Austin Prep community. They Si bridge the gap between different grades and make Austin a place where they can thrive and grow. Whether it’s playing on the same sports team, or enjoying the same clubs, everyone has a unique role in the community. When Alexis Sherry ’24 was asked how having a sibling at Austin has helped her, she said, “Having a sibling at Austin has taught me about leadership and its importance. Knowing that I have a younger sibling at the school looking up to me, it helped me become a leader and role model for the younger students within Austin as well.” Steven Reyes 26 commented on what his favorite part about having a sibling at Austin Prep was, “My favorite part about having a sibling at AP is that she can help me with homework and she helped introduce me to the school very well.” Those with siblings at Austin Prep are fortunate to have them help with their educational journey.

You may recall we began your Senior year together in the Chapel of St. Augustine. It was the first meeting of the Senior class to kick off your final year together at Austin Prep. My challenge to you was to work together in unitas to create lasting memories through the many capstone experiences and Austin Prep traditions that you would celebrate together in Senior year - pep rallies, Convocation and the Parade of Flags, the hoisting.of your class banner, your Senior class trip to Disney, Austin Prep Christmas activities, and more.
You may also recall noted that in the blink ofan eye it would be November and you'd be in Walt Disney World on your class trip and then, before you knew it, you'd be walking across the stage on Father Seymour Field to receive your Austin Prep diploma. As you read this, it’s probably early August and youre turning the pages of your Austin Prep yearbook for the first time, reminiscing about your Austin Prep years as you prepare to head offto college.
There's an expression that the days are long, but the years fly by. Day by day, you've worked hard to reach this milestone in your life. Austin Prep has

prepared you well to navigate the Journey ahead, in large part by learning to listen to the Inner Teacher. As St. Augustine instructed, “Do not look outside; return to yourself. In our interior the Truth resides. Go inside, where the light of reason is illuminated (De Vera Religione, 39, 72). Listen to the Inner Teacher. He will instruct you along the way and give you clear and unfailing markers of truth, unity, and love to chart your course from this life to the eternal one.
Shortly after Benedict XVI was elected Pope, he met with children in Rome who were about the make their lirst Holy Communion. One of the students asked him, “if I can't see Jesus, how then how do know he exists?” And the Pope replied, “Well, we can’t see electricity, can we, and yet we know that when we turn on the light switch, the light will go on.” Sometimes, however, the electricity doesn’t work. There could be a storm that will cause power outage, or an equipment malfunction, but we know the electricity is still there. When that happens, we get to work to figure it out and restore connection to the power.
The same is true with life's
Journey. You will encounter storms. Sometimes theyll be actual weather patterns like the soaker that was your Senior class trip to Disney. I remember a weather report while we were in Florida that it rained more than double the average rainfall in those + days that it does in the entire month of November, but you adapted and found a way to stay on course and make lasting memories. When you hit personal storms, look inward for advice to restore your connection to the Lord.
As Austin Prep alumni, you are part of the Augustinian cavalry. The world needs more Augustinian hearts to solve the challenges of our time. More
Augustinian hearts are the only pathway to a world that engenders greater compassion, justice and peace, and to foster more love among all people to build the City of God here on earth.
May God bless you with a good life, may it be joyful and fulfilling, and may it bring you to that moment when your heart is no longer restless and youre resting in the love of God.

he opening months of Austin Prep’s 2023-2024 school year went remarkably well. We started with our annual Convocation Mass to bring the community together as a way to kick it off. The Mass was celebrated by Sean Cardinal O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston, while the tradition of the parade of flags continued. The fall athletic programs continued to succeed in the NEPSAC League. Golf had a near-perfect record, Girls Soccer nearly made the playoffs, Football ended on a win, and Girls Cross Country finished in the top 5 at Championships. Cailin Fennessey ’24, a member of the Girls Cross Country team shared her insights, “The highlight of my season was the NEPSAC Division 2 Championships. It was a great way to see the team come together for one last race and see our hard work pay off” The fall season concluded on a high note with the Senior class embracing their trip to the most magical place on earth. Isabella Tomic ’24 talked about the Disney trip, “I think it was a good bonding experience with my classmates since we got to spend a lot of time together and do whatever we wanted.” Overall, Austin Prep had an exceptional opening to the school year!

honoring first responders.

n September, The Austin Prep Community came together to open the school year by celebrating the annual Convocation Mass. It was a time to come together to recognize our three core values of Unitas, Veritas, and Caritas. In preparation for this exciting event, Ava Intoppa 24 commented, “I wrote my Convocation address two weeks before the Mass in order to prepare. I asked for assistance and review from multiple teachers, as I really wanted to make sure this speech was short and sweet, but still an impactful moment to start off the beginning of the year.” The Mass began with a procession of students by grade, followed by the Parade of Flags. Charlize Jeannot 25, the Junior Class President recalls her experience, “Leading the Class of 2025 made me realize the significance of my role as Junior Class President. It really made me look at myself from a different perspective.” On an even higher note, Sean Cardinal O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston came to Austin Prep to preside over Mass. At the end, he gave the school a Cardinal's Holiday at Dr. Hickey discretion. The Austin Prep community looks forward to celebrating Convocation again next year.

he Blue Mass is a cherished annual tradition where we celebrate and recognize first responders and the sacrifices they make for us and our nation. The Mass was led by Austin Prep alum Father Peter Gori ‘70. A member of the choir, Bernice Yu 24, who sang at the Mass, had this to say, “A first responder I know is my dad, he used to be a policeman. He told me there must be someone to sacrifice some of their own things, which might be time, energy, or money, to help society, the country, even the whole world to bea better place.” Several students served at the Mass, some of whom were lectors. When asked how she prepared to say the second reading, Alanah Rizzo ’30 explained, “I would read it out to my parents and my siblings and sometimes recite the whole paragraph without looking at the words.’ At the end of the Mass, the Class of 2030, led by Mr. Fowler, sang “America the Beautiful” for the whole student body. From the bottom of our hearts, the Austin Prep community thanks first responders for all the incredible work they do.

ith this being Austin Prep’s second year in the Veoly NEPSAC League, it brought the team closer than ever before. This year they faced fierce | y competition, which led to a challenging season. However, Austin Prep improved from last year, both in technique and team spirit. Co-Captain Philip D’Alleva ’24 described the team’s growing brotherhood, “We just would see our brothers and see that we had to fight for them and be strong for ourselves and our fellow Seniors.” Pre-practice hangouts, post-practice food, and long bus rides led to a close knit community. This bond kept the team strong. This was the ultimate key to success for the Austin Prep Cougars. The highlight of the season was the final game against Portsmouth Abbey. Co-captain and quarterback Zachery Hayes ’24 details the exciting and close game,"We won 30-27 and had a game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter to pull it off! Then everyone in the student section rushed the field and we all celebrated together as community. It was a really great moment.” All of the hard work the team put together over the last two years since joining NEPSAC paid off for a successful final game of the season.

his year’s Golf team was a group of strong, motivated, and talented individuals, and they played as a team throughout the season. There were a lot of victories throughout the year, and one thing that contributed to that was how consistent they were throughout the season. Hunter Soep ’24 made remarks on how they were a very motivated group, “There was a lot of effort put into our skills over the summer. We knew we were a great team with talented players so when it came time to showcase our skills, we were focused.” They also had a roster where everybody on the team competed at a high level. The team only lost one match and when Derek Daley ’24 was asked what aspect of their roster helped them to succeed, he stated, “Our depth allowed us to be successful”. The Golf team also competed in the New England Jr. Championships at the Wenham Country Club, and Jonathan Burke ’24. won the Doral Publix Junior Classic Qualifier. These accomplishments capped off a very successful second season in the NEPSAC league, preparing them for many more big seasons to come.

When asked about his highlight of the season, Cam Bayusik 24 said, “My highlight of the year was probably winning our game against Dexter, as it was in some really bad weather against a team that had beaten us previously, but the team still worked hard to get the win.” This win was a crucial part of the season for the team and it motivated them for the remainder of the year. When asked about what motivated him throughout the season, Captain Jared Hickey ’24 explained, “For me, it was my last and final season as a Senior and playing with the teammates I have had since Freshman year motivated me to make it one last fun and memorable season. #onelastride.” August Doetsch ’25 was named AIl-NEPSAC Honorable Mention while Peter Pavlokos ’24 and Michael Simmons ’24 were selected to participate in the Senior All-Star

Te winter months in the Austin Prep community
were packed with festive holiday performances and fierce athletic competitions. This time of year is full of tradition and exhilaration so there was never a dull moment on campus. The entire community came together to enjoy the excitement of Christmas door decorating, Lessons & Carols, and the annual Nutcracker performance. When asked about her most memorable moment from performing in the Nutcracker, Morgan O’Donnell ’24 recalled, “The Senior dance when all of my friends and I took our final bow together for the last time, it was truly an emotional and amazing moment I got to share with my fellow senior classmates.” In addition to this exceptional performance, the winter athletic teams had another stellar season. The Austin Prep Boys Ski team was no different. Danny Holmes ’25 said, “Motivation was the key aspect of our team. Everyone always stayed motivated and worked hard throughout the entire season. The motivation and support from everyone on the team allowed us to pursue our goals.” To wrap up the festivities and close out the winter season, an all school pep rally was held where students had the opportunity to dress down in class colors and support St. Jude's.

ustin Prep’s annual Nutcracker performance was a show to remember. The cast and crew of over 150 students put in long, hard hours to ensure that the show would come out great. Morgan O’Donnell 24 explains that the cast grew closer together, “By working hard together and spending time together to put on the best show possible.’ Emma Losolfo ’24 expanded on that by saying, “Everyone grew closer from the sheer amount of time we spent together. The party dads always wanted to practice the choreography, so we all spent every spare moment in the dance room together. Doing so allowed me to create new friendships with my peers and strengthen existing ones.” Most of the Senior dancers joined the show in sixth grade, while for others, this was their first time dancing in the Nutcracker. Jaya Gupta 24 exclaimed, “A moment from the show I am going to remember is the Senior dance. Getting to do one last dance together as a class was so special and memorable for us, especially for those of us who have been doing the Nutcracker since Middle School.” The dancers did an amazing job
the show together, and after two nights of great
they look forward to doing it again next year.

very December, the Austin Prep Community E, gathers in the Meelia Hall for the beloved Lessons & Carols concert. The band and choir were joined by the new sixth grade choir to perform the songs that they had been working on since September. This year, two soloists performed in front of the school as well. Lily Fix ’25 sang a wonderful rendition of “O Holy Night’, and Hunter Soep played a spectacular guitar solo of “Carol of the Bells”. When asked what her favorite memories from preparation were, Fix stated, “My favorite memory from preparations for Lessons and Carols are just the weekly rehearsals. We are such a closeknit community, so it's never hard to dedicate time to practicing the pieces with my friends.” An often overlooked aspect of the annual concert is the behind-the-scenes work. Brady McLaren ’26 spoke about some of the challenges he faced as a part of the Event Production Services, or EPS club, “One of the songs had clapping and snapping. That was new for everyone at EPS and we had to adjust accordingly so that there was no feedback from the microphones.” After the concert, the whole school sang “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” together as it does every year. The next night, they held a performance for the parents in the chapel. Mark Tokarev ’27 played a piano solo of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” Everybody involved did such a fantastic job, just like they do every year!
he Austin Prep Dance team gave it their all this year and worked together to have a successful season. With several highlights, Jaya Gupta ’24 shared her thoughts on the one that stood out the most, “The highlight of our season was the Winter Pep Rally. We were able to show the whole school our dance and all of our hard work.”
Captain Anna Ferranti ’24 discussed how the team gelled, stating, “The team grew closer during the season from all the mornings before competitions that we spent getting ready together. We always played music and had fun together while helping each other with hair and makeup.’ With victory in the Winter Wonderland Competition, the girls brought home a trophy to close out the season. This victory solidified their season as an unforgettable one with countless memories.

ustin Prep Girls Basketball had a rigorous schedule A: their second year in the NEPSAC League. Despite this, the team eased into the season by continuously working hard to improve. Colleen Simmons ’25 remarked, “We worked really hard in practice every day to get better. Our team improved a lot this season by constantly pushing each other to get better.” The team had many opportunities to bond over the season as well. They had an overnight trip to Nobles and Greenough, 6:00 A.M. workout sessions, and pasta dinners. When asked what the highlight of her season was, Eliana Axelrod ’25 says, “I would probably say beating Milton or Exeter, both solid Class A teams. We were communicating, listening, and playing well together as a team.” This proved that even though the team had challenges, they were able to overcome every obstacle with unwavering determination and relentless teamwork.

he Austin Prep Boys Basketball team worked hard and battled through adversity. The team was captained by Peter Pavlakaos 24 and when asked how they found success throughout the season, he said, “The team grew together because we always practiced hard and were very competitive.” The team had new coaching this year with Coach Sean Ryan. Coach Ryan and his new style and attitude pushed the team in the right direction. When Cameron Flaherty ’24 spoke on how they were motivated to stay strong all year he commented, “I think the main motivation for our six seniors was to make the most of our last year together and for most of us our last year playing organized basketball. Coach Ryan also pushed us to do our best everyday in order to build the program for all the future players that will come through Austin Prep in the years to come.” This was a good second season for the Austin Prep Boys Basketball team in the NEPSAC, and they look to build on this next year.

e sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and winter feels like a distant memory as the Austin Prep community welcomes the spring season. This season was filled with NEPSAC wins, stunning arts performances, and lasting memories. On the athletic side, the Baseball team went undefeated, winning all 19 of their games. The Outdoor Track & Field team won individual NEPSAC championships in the Boys 800m race and Girls 4x400m relay. Every team, however, won in some way as the students grew closer together. Janna Vounessea ’25 from the Girls Lacrosse team, explained, “This season has taught me that I need to work hard in every game. Our slogan this year was ‘earned not given’ so we all learned to work hard during all aspects of the game so we can earn a win.” This Spring also was memorable for those involved with the arts. The theater department performed the musical Grease at the Stoneham Theater in March, and sold out all three shows. Anthony Fergusson, who played Danny Zuko, recalled, “The hardest part for my role was memorizing the lines and choreography. But my favorite memory from the show itself was singing Summer Nights on the first night of the show.” The Spring dance show, performed at the Collins Center in May, brought together dancers from all grades to create a truly spectacular show. The year closed with lasting memories for the Class of 2024, including Prom, Graduation, and all of the annual Senior celebrations such as tie-dying their polo shirts, the Senior barbecue, and parking spot decorating. This Spring was filled to the brim with new memories and fun. What a way to end the year!

Another highlight of this trip was when we went to the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. I was shocked at how many soldiers had been buried there, fighting for our country.” While exploring, students had a fun time connecting with friends/classmates and learning together. Alexandra Martinelli ’28 touched on this by saying, “The trip to Washington D.C. showed Unitas in the way that it was an opportunity for classmates to come closer together and interact with one another more. It was really enjoyable getting to experience the trip with my classmates and friends.” When looking at the reflections from the current 8th graders, it is obvious to see how enjoyable and educational the D.C. experience truly was!
s his year, for the 2024. April Break, Austin Prep students traveled to Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Approximately 55 students, teachers, and staff participated in the trip. The students explored various sites in Berlin, Prague, and Krakow, including the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp and the Terezin ghetto. Throughout the nineday excursion, students engaged in small-group discussions with faculty, as well as moments of private reflection and prayer. While in Berlin, the group visited several notable locations, including the Soviet War Memorial, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, and the historic ) Checkpoint Charlie. Once a significant border crossing during the Cold War, Checkpoint Charlie # witnessed a pivotal moment in 1961 when tanks from the U.S. and Soviet Union faced off.
1 Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Checkpoint Charlie became a museum, where you ') can find a replica of the original checkpoint today. The group also explored Museum Island, Berlin’s Jewish district, and sites related to World War II and the Holocaust. Prague offered visits J to the Olympic Stadium, the House of the Wannsee Conference (where the “Final Solution” was ‘4 planned), the Royal Quarter, and St. Vitus Cathedral. When asked what her favorite part of the trip was, | Jasmine Labriola ’26, said, “The Castle in Prague because there was a peacock in front of it!” Overall, this trip was an unforgettable experience of remembrance, communion, and honor.

very year, the Austin Prep theater department puts on a Spring musical. This year, they performed the classic musical Grease. Rehearsals began in early January and concluded with the performance of three sold out shows at Greater Boston Stage Company from March 22 through March 24. The months of rehearsals were spent learning, memorizing, and fine-tuning every aspect of the show. Each role came with its own challenges that the actors had to overcome. Lead actress Jillian McAuley ’24 relayed to us, “My role in Grease was Sandy, and the hardest part about the role was meeting everyone's expectations. Everyone knows Grease and Sandy is a very iconic character so I wanted to make sure that could do the role justice and exceed people’s expectations while accurately portraying Sandy.” Although preparing for the musical was hard work, it was also tons of fun for everyone involved. Meredith Rhodes ’25 shared, “Cheering each other on and getting close to the cast was the best part of Grease. We created such tight-knit community even in such a short time and it was so special. Laughing, joking, and turning rehearsal into a fun place to be will always stick with me.” Seven seniors will be graduating from the theater program this year and the rest of the cast wishes them the best. They will cherish all the memories that were made during Grease. Congratulations to everyone involved with the show! A wop-baba-lu-bop!

ik Austin Prep Spring Show took place once again at the Collins
Center at Andover High. Students from every grade got the chance to showcase their dances to a captivated audience. Victoria Liwanag ’25 discussed what demands she faced during preparation for the show, “For me, it was choosing the piece of music that I was going to dance to. But I ended up being really happy with the piece that I chose.” During the show, the Seniors said their goodbyes through various songs and dances. Emma Losolfo ’24 reflected on her own experience, “The most challenging part of putting on the show was the emotional aspect. After seven years of performing in the Spring Show, knowing I had to create dances for my final performance was very difficult.” As the Class of 2024 took their last bows in their college shirts, the curtain closed triumphantly on their final performance as part of the Austin Prep Dance Program.

ust like they do every year, the Austin Prep Band and Choir performed a beautiful concert in the spring: This year, they performed to a large audience at Greater Boston Stage Company theater in Stoneham. Some students had known each other for years, and some became friends during this semester's rehearsals, which had been taking place since January. Buddhini Perera ‘26, who sang a solo for the song “What Was I Made For’, reminisced, “My favorite memories from the rehearsals were the jokes we made back and forth. The vocal exercises that made everyone laugh. Rehearsing our favorite songs and enjoying each other's company.” Everybody had a unique experience during this concert. One of the highlights was when Mark Tokarev 28 played an astonishing rendition of Bethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 14 Op. 27. Ethan Molettieri ‘25 sang bass in the choir while also playing lead guitar in the band, running between the two ensembles throughout the whole show. “It was very interesting to be split between both the choir and the band, and this really made the concert feel so special to me.” The end of the show brought the Senior farewell, in which our Class of 2024 was recognized. There is no doubt that this was a wonderful end to the year for students old and new!

4 Whe Austin Prep Baseball team had an extraordinary second year in the NEPSAC. The squad went a perfect 19-0, and had some exciting games along the way. When Jacob Harring ’24 was asked about the highlight of their season, he said, “A specific game I remember the most was against Dexter. The game went to extras and was definitely the loudest game of the year! The entire team played a huge role because the energy of the game was constantly shifting, and we ended up on top!” The pitching staff was a strong suit for the team this year, constantly exceeding expectations and controlling the game on the mound. This aspect of the team shined the most when Lukasz Rondeau 24 threw a perfect game against Belmont Hill. When asked what aspect of the team helped them become successful, Evan Ventura 24 commented,, “Competing against each other helped me become most successful because we always were competitive in practice, and it pushed me to be better.” This undefeated season truly was a testimony to the hard work put in by the guys every single day.

he Softball team came to play yet again this year. Despite being only the second year in the highly competitive NEPSAC League, the team finished strong with 13 wins and only 4 losses. Just before the season, the team had the opportunity to travel to a tournament in Orlando, Florida. Nora Matthews 25 reflects, “Our team began to grow closer after we went to Florida. Since then, we all began to bond with each other, especially among the upperclassmen and the underclassmen.” There were a lot of memorable games during the season that brought the team even closer together. Lucci Igoe ’26 describes, “The highlight was when our team played Phillips Exeter in a doubleheader. We had won the first game. We went into the second game immediately after thinking that it was going to be another blowout. Meanwhile, it quickly became a close game that we had to prepare ourselves for. It was the sixth inning and the score was 3-3, tied. was up at bat and there was arunner on 2nd base. I hit a deep shot to left field that bounced off of the fence. I ended up scoring the winning run and it just felt amazing hearing my teammates go crazy on the bench.” Close games like this are what bring a team closer together to show what it can do. This unity was so important for the team and they can’t wait to do it again next year!

his year, the AP Varsity Girls Lacrosse team kept a certain motto in mind; “Earned, not given”. This message truly highlighted the effort and passion of the team, and contributed to their performance in every game. Amber Boardman 25 had some inspiring words regarding the team’s season, “Our team has overcome adversity many times - our season this year was a little on the tougher side — but no matter what we pushed until the last minute of the game and we constantly have the drive to win.” The team had many successes, crushing rivals from prior seasons, and defeating rivals from the current as well. Not to mention successes in camaraderie and teamwork. Lauren Neal ’24 shared a great message about her time with the team, “Over the past four years, being a member of the Austin Prep varsity girls lacrosse team has taught me so much about what it means to be a teammate. On the field, being a teammate is about pushing your teammates to improve, supporting them in tough moments, and being competitive. Off the field it is about being a friend, and someone your teammates can rely on for anything.” Overall, the season will be remembered by those who took part in it for years to come.

lhe Austin Prep Boys Lacrosse team faced tough competition during their second season in NEPSAC. However, the effort and work ethic never let up, and everyone constantly persevered. When asked about how the team helped him succeed, Armen Kourkounian ’25 stated, “One aspect of the team that helped me become successful was our competitive nature. In practice, we showcased our competition with each other, and it translated into games.” They overcame defeats and other obstacles, all while supporting each other throughout the season. The team never gave up and always fought their hardest in every game or practice that they had. The result was strengthening their bond with each other. s) he Austin Prep Girls Track & Field team had an amazing season! Throughout the spring, the team grew so much closer together, which resulted in success at meets. Ava Cote ’26 said, “The team was very close all season. We worked hard during practice and put in many hours running, throwing, and jumping. The support of the team was amazing. It didn’t matter what event you did, everyone was cheering for you.” The team in turn broke nine school records. Most notably were Gabby DeNardo 27 in the Shot Put, Eliza Martin ’25 in the 200m, Cailin Fennessy ’24 in the 800m, and the 4x100 Relay team (Tezza Galletta ’25, Maggie Little ’25, Ava Sherry ’27, and Martin). The 4x400 Relay team (Isabella Tomic ’24, Fennessy, Sherry, and Martin) also smashed the school record while winning that event at the NEPSAC Division 2 Championship Meet. This helped the team to a 5th place overall finish. The team supported each other throughout everything, whether it was cheering for teammates during their races and encouraging each other during tough workouts. Eliza Martin ’25 added, “I think the support system of the team is what allowed us to be so successful. We all had each other's backs, and cheered each other on every meet. During races people would run back and forth across the field to each side ofthe track cheering their teammates on. We were all there for each other, and you could really feel the supportive environment.” The team had a wonderful season this year filled with fun memories and great a eae

he Girls Tennis team had a notable season, ending with a 13-3 record, which surpassed last year’s tally. They played some challenging teams, but always managed to put up a battle, making sure that it wasn’t an easy win for their opponents. As a very driven team, the girls always pushed themselves and each other to be the best they possibly could. They all had unique chemistry and unbreakable bonds with one another, which is just one of the many reasons that makes each season so special. Captain Katherine Millett ’24 said, “My motivation was my fellow Seniors. We wanted to make it the best season for our last and it really motivated me to put my 100% into every match we played.” The Seniors’ determination to make their final season a great one was truly a catalyst in achieving their record. Captain Alexa Schiela ’24 shared some insights on her season, “The highlight of my season was our Senior Day match with the boys team. Playing mixed doubles with the boys was an exciting way to end my past six years on the team and spend the final moments with my friends before the season came to an end.” The girls, especially the Seniors, have made so many lifelong memories that they will cherish forever, and the team is looking forward to the next season!

he Boys Tennis team brought hard work and dedication to the courts this year. Regardless of the challenges they faced, the boys always had fun and made everlasting memories with each other. They started off the season strong and eager to compete, and they won their first home game since 2022. This win helped the team to believe in themselves and ready to conquer the matches that lie ahead. Captain George Chapian ’24 shared insights on his season, “What motivated me this season was the offseason training. I built my confidence up as well as my tennis game and it has helped me a lot throughout our season.” Chapian continued, “Coach Larry has helped me for four years during my time here at Austin and I wouldn’t want a better coach than Coach Larry!” Having a supportive and uplifting coach makes a huge impact on a team’s confidence, which was displayed this season. The team stayed focused, while also making fun memories such as playing with the girls for their Senior Day and going out for ice cream after some big wins. The boys always stayed positive, pumping each other up, and brought their all to every single match. All of this paid off for an unforgettable season.

raduation day was marked by tradition, celebration, and anticipation. Salutatorian Michael Young '24 noted, “It feels bittersweet to be a graduate. am both nervous and excited to see how the skills have learned at Austin have prepared me for the next chapter of my life.” The ceremony began with a Mass, bringing a sense of peace and reflection as everyone gathered to give thanks and seek blessings for the future. The Head of School's remarks recounted collective achievements and individual journeys, evoking a sense of pride and accomplishment. Families filled the stands, their faces beaming with joy, capturing the essence of this milestone. As the ceremony concluded with the turning of tassels, it symbolized not just the end of the high school journey but the beginning of a new adventure. Valedictorian Anna Ferranti 24 highlighted a surreal moment when, “processing out of the ceremony with the Indiana Jones theme song playing in the background...” she stated, “the weight of graduating started to set in. I think that is one of the moments I will remember most distinctly looking back.” The Class of 2024 is now ready to step into the future, equipped with knowledge, resilience, and dreams waiting to be realized.

Ts Austin Prep Community held many events this year celebrating Mission and Inclusion. Students got the opportunity to hear from several speakers, including sculptor Pablo Eduardo, who spoke about his inspiration for building the Boston Marathon Monument. Students also participated in events like drumming with Ugandan drummer, Godfrey Muwulya. Some other notable speakers include holocaust survivor Kati Preston and Jerry Epps who spoke to the Future Business Leaders of America Club. This year, Austin Prep had the special opportunity to be the only high school to attend the Race Amity Conference in Atlanta, GA. Grace Ditchfield 26, reflected on what she learned from the trip, “I realized how important racial amity is. I noticed that there were a lot more issues than this topic than I had realized and I know that I want to be a help in changing these issues. The biggest thing that I took away from this trip was that no matter how old you are, you are never too young or old to make a difference.”
Austin Prep also hosted the Floor Lords, a hip-hop dancing group, to visit and perform for our dance class. We asked Claire Harrington ’26 about the differences in the dancing she is trained in and the Floor Lords’ dancing, she stated, “The style of dancing they shared with us was definitely something I had never seen or tried before. I do Irish Dance, so break dancing was very difficult and eye opening to me. Normally, I have to keep my arms in while dancing, but when the Floor Lords started teaching all of us, that was not the case.” The Austin Prep looks forward to more of these exciting events next year!

very holiday season, the Austin Prep community dedicates time to prepare meals and deliver gifts to families in need. There are three service initiatives a year, one at Christmastime, one before Thanksgiving, and one before Easter. This year Austin Prep helped over 240 families in total. The Thanksgiving baskets contained gravy, turkey, instant mashed potatoes and other quintessential ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal. Candies and canned vegetables were also collected for the Easter baskets. The students had a great time preparing them, and had many new experiences and most importantly, made memories. When asked what she remembered most, Lexi Sherry ‘24 stated, “Each time I went to the food pantry to complete service, would talk with and hear many different stories from those who came to the food pantry. They would show kindness in times of struggle and be optimistic when odds were not in their favor.” Service builds valuable bonds with the community that unites us together. Students and faculty are looking forward to more service opportunities in the coming year!

Each time, students had the opportunity to dress down and show school spirit. During the week, each day also had a different activity, whether it was lunch bingo or a community meeting. ‘To encourage student participation, they were inspired to donate money to support St. Jude’s Research Hospital. At the final pep rally, it was announced that collectively, Austin Prep raised $45,124 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during the three Spirit Weeks of this academic year. On Fridays, the entire school dressed up in their class colors and participated in the well-known pep rallies. Pep rallies consist of engaging activities and exciting competitions. When asked about his favorite part of the pep rallies, Thomas Casale ’26 said, “The enthusiasm of the students and the sense of community!” Overall, these weeks were filled with spirit, unity, and fun! = =
