Ms. Greenwood has earned her place as a favorite teacher of the Class of 2019 and someone who we look up to and admire. From teaching religion to moderating academic decathlon and participating in plenty of APS Media videos, Ms. Greenwood has become a beloved mentor and friend to the senior Class.
As a religion teacher, Ms. Greenwood not only shares her knowledge of the religious world but also teaches valuable life skills like organization. Students leave class after her famous “binder checks” feeling more put together and relaxed, because their schoolwork is in order and easy to access. Her classroom is always described as a friendly environment, and her class one that students enjoy going to. “I like that she has a close relationship with our class. She’s really friendly and you can have a conversation without it being weird,” says senior Nicole Valliant.

Between classes, students love to hang out in Ms. Greenwood's room to study or just talk. Ms. Greenwood affirms that she loves when kids come by, and that it is one of the reasons she became a high school teacher: to be able to talk to her students in a real way. If you don’t have Ms. Greenwood in a particular year, or even if you were never her student at all, she is welcoming and kind to anyone who visits her. Ethan Tilley '19, a member of the Academic Decathlon team, says she cares about her students’ success and is supportive to all members of the club. This echoes the sentiments of other students who describe Ms. Greenwood as a truly compassionate and inspiring member of the Austin community.
The Class of 2019 thanks Ms.Greenwood for her guidance and support, both in and out of the classroom. She holds a special place in all of our hearts, and we will never forget how she influenced our high school experience even after we leave Austin to continue our journeys.

Hola class of 2019,
lam honored to write to you as you graduate from Austin Preparatory School. am a proud teacher, advisor, club coordinator, and “Mom” to many of you. | cannot express how much of a pleasure it has been watching you on your journey. | am proud of all 130 of you. It seems like yesterday when thirty Austin lifers arrived. You have grown from sixth grade Latin students with ship names into wonderful young adults. You are leading retreats, clubs, plays and sports teams and are now ready to embark on your college journeys. Continue to lead!
As you leave the comfort of your second home for a new one would like to share some advice that hope you will follow. First, have worked hard to help you discover the true gift of serving others. Saint Augustine said it perfectly— “For GRACE is given NOT because we have done good works but in order that, we may be able to do them.” Please continue to give of yourselves: you never know the impact that a small gesture, act of kindness or an HOLA can have on another. Share yourselves and take time for others. When you pick your major, do what you love and love what you do. have NEVER regretted being a teacher. | go to work every day and get to watch awesome students like yourselves learn and grow. Don’t be afraid of your challenges ahead. In the words of Fred DeVito, “If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you.”
It is time for you to say goodbye to your home at Austin Prep and continue on your path towards the future. Remember that you are a part of Austin and we will always be here for you. We cannot wait to hear of all the wonderful accomplishments and adventures that you will embark on. hope you think of me fondly when you eat quesadillas, serve others, ski at Nashoba or hear someone say HOLA. | will not say adids, but rather hasta luego, see you later. Come back to alumni events and post on Facebook. Finally, am leaving you with one final request which is for you to listen to the words of Tim McGraw’s song, "Humble and Kind," and to follow the advice given.
ijHasta Luego y Vaya con Dios!

Sophomore year: filled with sweet sixteens and getting drivers permits. Camo was our theme and we made the most of the other grades chanting "We can't see you!" Pep rallies, games, and a trip to Salem were some highlights of the Class of 2019's sophomore year.

Junior year was the year of discovering our independence and embarking on new adventures. We ventured to New York City, got dressed up at prom and started our college applications. Together we made memories for the books.

Class of 2020,
Congratulations on finishing an assuredly stress-filled and busy year at Austin Prep!
Many of you have your sights on the exit and what may lie ahead. But as someone who has been in your shoes, | have some advice: enjoy your senior year. Take advantage of every opportunity, continue to form strong relationships and dont be afraid to make new ones. Let go and do not hold on to silly grudges. Do not wish that your Mondays were Fridays. Do not wait and wish for life to fast forward to things that may seem more important. Live in the moment. Get up every morning, take on the day and be thankful for the opportunities and experiences that await you. Your senior year will be a year youll never forget. It will be full of emotions, celebrations, ups and downs. But never forgot how hard you've worked, your friends and family, and all the people you've met along the way. wish you nothing but the best in your final year at Austin.
Regards, Mr. Benning

Class of 2021,
Congratulations on completing your sophomore year of high school. The sophomore year is one in which you truly become staples of the community. You become comfortable in your study habits, in your classes, with your friends, and in your day to day lives in general. By now, you are ready fo move on to your junior year. If can impart any advice, it would be to make the most out it: academically, extracurricularly, and socially.
| want to thank you for the memories you all have created. | was in the unique position of teaching nearly every single one of you this year. We read Shakespeare and The Great Gatsby, analyzed speeches, got frustrated with NoRediInk, played Quizlet Live, and discussed and debated around a Harkness Table. You begged me to watch movies in class, tried to hide the fact that you didn't do the reading, talked with me about sports, complained about having to give a speech or write an essay, and enjoyed some awkward silences when no one wanted to pick up during ghost reading. You have also had many successes and have learned much this year. It has been a privilege to get to know all of you. Good luck with your remaining time in high school!
Mr. Diapella ‘88

You may have donned your Austin polo or “AP” khakis for the very first time in September, as you rode up past the new dining hall construction and around the building to your drop off point. Or you may have worn them for the last three years on your way to becoming an Austin Prep “Lifer.” Either way, this is an exciting new beginning: it’s high school!
It has been my absolute pleasure watching you all on the fields, track, court, pool, and stage. look forward to watching as you continue your high school experience. If can impart one bit of advice, it is to get involved. Participation in Austin events makes your ) experiences more memorable. Go to a game under the lights. Cheer on your teams on the court, on the track, and on the ice. Attend the dances, see the Nutcracker, or better ) yet, try out for a play, or work behind the scenes in EPS. Sit with your friends in the new dining hall, and welcome new friends as well. Look out for one another. Being a part of a team, whatever that team might be, will make your Austin journey even better.
\ As you ride up the driveway each morning, you see the banners with our three charisms: | Unitas, Veritas and Caritas. Unity, Truth, and Love. Those three words embody what we are as a community, and you are a very large part of it. Please continue to thrive in all aspects of your life. look forward to watching you grow, mature, and share your gifts. Before you know it, you'll be crossing the stage to begin the next chapter of your life. Until then, make the most of every opportunity to get involved with the positive things | happening around you. We will all be cheering you on!
God Bless, a

Class of 2023,

One bridge crossed!
Sincerely, you have accomplished a great deal as Middle School students at Austin Prep. It is time for you to pause, relax and take a deep cleansing breath before starting out on the next leg of your journey. Truthfully, one of the bests things you can decide for yourself at this time is to totally commit to your journey, but not to the outcome!
You have actively taken part in the very essence of an organic process of community building. The skills and talents you have found and developed in the process will be honed to perfection as you travel this road further into High School and beyond.
It really is a beautiful journey, a journey very much worthy of taking, and worthy of you. You will experience breathtaking heights in achievement, and frightening lows in your failures. But you will learn that if you always choose kindness and love as you partners, the path of your journey will always be in the "light"!
God love you,
Mr.
Malvey

Class of 2024,
Congratulations: you will be the new leaders of the Middle School! You entered Austin Prep with high expectations and have realized the degree of hard work that success demands. Academic challenges were different for each of you, but with determination and grace, you have made progress. We have seen your varied strategies for time management and have been delighted to help motivate you. Watching you achieve is so gratifying!
Socially, it's been a pivotal couple of years in your lives. For those who entered AP in the sixth grade, / you leff your former classmates to bond as a brand new class; for "new' seventh graders, you were +. welcomed into that group with enthusiasm and warmth. Observing you all seamlessly interact in class, , inthe dining hall, or in the corridors is a testament to Unitas. Your friend groups are expanding in sports, ‘the arts, and in extracurricular activities, giving you a support system to complement the encouragement given by your family and your teachers. Keep on being kind to one another!
Thank you for being fun in class discussions, for being open to new ideas, for persevering in subjects + that don't come easily to you, and for learning to balance it all with self-discipline and honesty. It all +. adds up to character building! We are proud of the young ladies and gentlemen that you are. Our | hope is that you continue to trust in yourselves and to nourish yourself spiritually as you make your Z Austin Prep Journey.
See you next year!

Mrs. DiPerna

Class of 2025,
look forward to every year to welcome our new sixth grade students to the Austin Prep community. am fortunate to be a part of this experience of watching students from different backgrounds, communities and schools come together under one roof fo learn, grow and support one another. have been at Austin Prep for 20 years, and | can wholeheartedly say that the administration, counseling department, teachers, coaches, children, and parents, make Austin Prep the special school that it is.
Caritas, Unitas, and Veritas are not just words that you hear throughout the school year and are not just words that are written on the walls in the Gathering Room. These words represent the mission of Austin Prep and must be at the forefront of your mind. They come alive by the way you care and help one another on a daily basis throughout the school year. They manifest themselves in the charity work you perform. Carifas, Unitas, and Veritas are part of the fabric of Austin Prep, and you are too.
It is my sincere wish that you all become ‘lifers’ and graduate from Austin Prep. hope that you make meaningful connections with friends and teachers along the way, and that Austin Prep will hold a special place in your heart long beyond your years in school. You will well be prepared for college, but more importantly, you will be well prepared for life. Society needs caring, loving and hard working young adults to make the world a better place and | have no doubt that you will do just that!
Sincerely,
Mr. Regan

After coming back from our long summer break to a beautiful new Dining Hall, the fall season was a time to remember! Athletic talents at Austin continued to impress. The Girls Soccer team made it to the CCL's once again and had an almost undefeated season. The Volleyball team also had an outstanding season, setting a new school record. Volleyball team member Alexandra Taylor '19 states, “We had the best season we've ever had by winning the Division 3 North Championship for the first time! We werent sure what to expect with a new coach, but we went far.” Besides these CCL performances, Football, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Golf, and Boys Soccer all had strong seasons as well.
Outside of athletics, the fall was a great season for Campus Ministry, Drama Club and other school activities. Convocation Mass was an inspiring start to the new school year, and the 6th, 9th, and 12th graders did some bonding at Project Adventure. The Friends of Rachel club hosted their annual Halloween parade and the Drama Club put on the “Fall Cabaret,” scenes from a variety of famous movies and plays featuring dance and musical performances. Actress Aingea Venuto said, “Whenever am involved in a play, feel like my true purpose is fulfilled. Our shows are a culmination of different departments’ hours of work, and it always pays off!” Ending the fall season was Spirit Week, which included themed dress down days, the Senior vs. Teacher Dodgeball Game, and lastly, the Pep Rally. Each grade dressed in their class colors and members of the fall sports teams participated in small competitions and dances. It was a great start to the year and definitely a season that we will remember forever.

Teacher Edward Williams was extremely proud of his win: "| had to beat the students in dodgeball to prove to them was better than them- that was great." The football team ended the season thankful for Coach Maradei during his last year as the head Varsity Football coach. His 45 years of committed leadership have inspired so many students and faculty members at Austin Prep. He is an extremely hard worker and uses different coaching techniques to improve all aspects of the players’ skills, which will also have an impact on Austin football programs yet to come. On Thanksgiving, Austin Prep won their last game of the season in freezing cold temperatures. It was a close game, but they were able to stop Shawsheen Tech on their final drive and secure the win. The game wrapped up not only the best season Austin has had in a couple of years, but also the destiny of a great coach.

Winter at Austin is a time for traditions and community. The Blue Mass, Door Decorating, Lessons and Carols, and The Nutcracker are times when students, teachers, parents and the extended AP community gather to enjoy some of Austin’s most exceptional events.
Athletic teams also did a stellar job this season. The swim team won the CCL championship for the sixth consecutive year. When asked about the experience, Izzy Achab replied,“| am more than proud to be a part of such a hard-working team who always wants to achieve excellence. We have put in many long and EARLY hours of work and have dug our path to success. The team this year is a group that will always have a warm place in my heart, have never met a more intelligent, persevering, and humorous group of kids! Much love for the AP swim team.” The Girls and Boys Hockey teams are heading to the Super 8, and senior Hannah Aveni broke the shutout record of 26 games. When asked how she felt about her accomplishment, Hannah stated, “It is an awesome achievement, but couldn't have done it without my team. Without them, there would be no record.” As a community, we all won together and are proud of our athletes for the great work they do.
Other notable events this season were the “Minding Your Mind" assembly, the Middle School Showcase, The Maker Fair, and Service Day on February 14th. Model UN club also participated in HMUN, the Harvard Model United Nations. From sports to academics, it was a memorable winter at Austin!

On December 8th and 9th, Austin's Dance Club hosted their annual Nutcracker. Senior Cortney Hannula, an active member of the club, says, "The Nutcracker is one of my favorite holiday traditions here at Austin. It allows everyone in the school to get on stage." Once again Mrs. PascucciByrne put on a successful show. This year Sophia Taylor and Amelia Miller provided comic relief as dancing grandmas. During the show they Fortnite danced and exchanged ugly scarves with each other, making the crowd laugh all night long.

Santa himself makes an appearance at Austin Prep to wish us all happy holidays.
The Austin Prep community gathered, once again, in Meelia Hall for a night of timeless carols and readings. This annual tradition has become a holiday staple for students and families alike. Senior Kelsey Sparuk, a member of the Austin Prep chorus remembers, "It was a great night for chorus, band, and the whole school community. Singing in chorus these past few years has been really fun and the music is always beautiful." Needless to say, Lessons and Carols is a beloved part of the Austin experience.

Mr. Parrella's advisory (below) participated in the door decorating for the first time ever this year. Junior Julia Jenks worked very hard to draw the Grinch perfectly on green poster paper. Juila noted, "We chose the Grinch because he is Mr. Parrella's hero," after Mr. Parrella facetiously said as much. Then the advisory had the idea to add a banner saying "He's My Hero" in big cursive letters, which Juila drew using her amazing art skills. The rest of the advisory helped with taping the Grinch up, adding present bows on the corners, and putting festive Christmas holiday tape around the edges. Senior Samatha Szczesny concluded, This is a historical moment for Mr. Parrella's advisory."
On November Ist, 2018, Austin Prep held its 3rd annual Blue Mass. This special mass is all about ithe Austin Prep communtiy coming together and ‘honoring the courageous first responders in our ‘police and fire departments. Every day brave men -and women devote thier lives to saving or helping ‘others in danger, making this world a better and safer place. The Blue Mass this year was held on All Saints Day, so Dr. Hickey related his speech to both saints and first reponders. The weather is warmer, classes are almost over, athletics move outdoors again, and students are happier. Spring has sprung at AP. Seniors look foward to prom, decide on colleges and enjoy their final moments on campus before graduation.
All of our sports teams look to build and improve on their amazing 2018 seasons, a year of great success. The baseball team won States, and softball won the Division 3 North title. Girls tennis made it all the way to playoffs, and boys tennis had one of their best seasons to date. Track was not to be missed either! The girls 4x800 qualified for All-States and Emily Hickey was the Division 4 state champ in pole vault. Both girls and boys lacrosse were CCL champions, and the boys won the Division 3 North title. Preparing for the 2019 season, each team works hard to act as one during competition. Lacrosse player Emma Ardizzoni '19 says, “Our team is like a family. We all have-a lot of fun during practice, buses, warmups, and games. We are very supportive of each other no matter what.’ Cam Seguin '19, who threw the last pitch in the 2018 championship baseball game, looks foward to his senior season. Johnny Weber '20 comments, "It's truly the power of UNITAS that fuels our victories and dubs."
Spring is about more than just our amazing sports teams. The Austies performances never disappoint, and the arts are on full display in May with the spring musical, band and chorus concert, dance show and visual arts show. For this year's international service trip, a group of students also traveled to Ecuador. There, they worked with children, helped out on family farms and learned a lot about the native culture.

I'It's really cool to see the goings on behind the scenes of the yearbook. It takes a lot of effort and time to make it perfect and it’s a great learning experience." —Jade Owirka ‘21

"'ve waited four long years to be in this class."— Alex Taylor '19

Have you ever thought about how much time, effort, and work goes into the making of a yearbook? All of the Omega staff members worked diligently to make the 2019 yearbook look its best. Behind the scenes, students were making choices about what events to cover, which staff member would cover them, what pictures to take, who to interview, what fonts to use, and countless other details. Seniors Alex Taylor, Haley Nedroscik, Bella Collins, and Kelsey Sparuk each took ona unique leadership role to make sure the yearbook production went as smoothly as possible. Alex was the Director of Communications, coordinating photos, creating surveys, and reaching out to the Class of 2019 throughout the year. Haley was the Editor, focused on the senior portrait pages and bios, and helping other students to revise their writing. Being Editor is a time-consuming job and "truly an experience,” Haley recalled. Bella was the Head of Design, working to help other students develop their layouts and create consistency between the pages. Finally, Kelsey went above and beyond to produce extra pages, critical for meeting deadlines, and assisted with many senior-related designs. Together, Omega staff members agree: the work was worth it! As Alex said, “four years, a long ride, couldn't wait to see the final product-now lam published in a book.”
