From the start of the school year until the beginning of November, intramural softball is one of our school’s mosttalked about activities. High school students play on the 6 teams, each led by a teacher, that compete wildly for the championship title. This season, team loyalty has been fierce. The players are notorious for their efforts to bring humor to their games, most commonly by getting creative with their team uniforms, Dunkin Donuts visors and Market Basket name tags included. Much appreciation also goes out to Mr. Dowd, the "Commisioner", who has put in so much time to make softball one of the most exciting activities Austin has to offer. Lastly, congratulations to Mr. Hennessy's New England Club, the 2012 champions, for an impressive win over Mr. Dowd's Millennium Club.

Pep Rally

The fall Pep Rally is always a highlight of homecoming weekend for both students and ~ faculty alike. This year, all grades enthusiastically participated in competitions in hope of bringing glory to their grade. Special performances by the football players ~ and cheerleaders wowed the crowds, leaving a lasting impressions. Without a doubt, this Pep Rally most definitely boosted Austin pride and spirit.

Homecoming Dance

Each fall, the homecoming dance kicks off Austin's social outings for the year. The dance was our school's first ever "quarter formal" event, leading the outfit choices for the evening to be more dashing than ever. With everyone dressed to kill and ready to have a good time, the occasion went in the books as a great night of dancing and being with friends.

Austin Drama is well known for their unique plays and performances, and this fall was no exception.

The cast put on a fabulous rendition of Into the Woods, a musical that intertwines the story lines of multiple Brother's Grimm fairytales, including Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella.

The elegant ladies of dance club showcased their skills in this year's winter show, Winter Wonderland. Choreographed by seniors Megan Delaney, Isabella Goldstein, Holly Robinson, and Moderator Ms. Maser, the title held true to the performance. This year's talent show was a beautiful showcase of the many singers in the Austin community. With students from both the middle school and the high school participating, there was great diversity in the genres sung as well as how they were performed. Some students played guitar, others piano, and one even sang while using a cup as an instrument! The night came to a close with awards given to seniors Mike Sim and Jillian Barrows.

Hosted by seniors Colin Murphy and Brendan Sullivan, this year's winter pep rally was very exciting. This pep rally included the classic competitions among grades but also debuted its first musical performance by Austin's very own Ben Pompilus, singing his rendition of a popular Kanye West & Jay-Z song. The day ended with a surprising flash mob by the Austin faculty to "Gagnam Style", led by Mr. Diapella. The student body was left amazed!

EPS EVENT PRODUCTION SERVICES

Event Production Services, commonly known as EPS, is the backbone of the Austin community when it comes to any event that takes place on campus. Under the direction of Ben Gemski and Assistant Technical Director Jay Jarosz, EPS has become an essential program at Austin Prep.

Not only does EPS run all of Austin's assemblies, but they are also - constantly working behind the scenes to put on the most spectacular shows and performances. EPS made your shirt light up at the blacklight danco™ created the thundering sounds of the Giant's footsteps during Into the Woods, and made it snow on stage at the Winter Dance Show. Their efforts are crucial to the success of all of the arts and — i entertainment of Austin Prep. We would like topublicly thank EPS for their hard work ‘and dedication. We were old enough to remember every detail of that morning, but too young to fully grasp the extent of what had just happened. As we have grown, so has the significance of this event. Each one of us has become woven into America’s history. As eighth graders, we traveled to Washington D.C., just nine days after the inauguration of President Obama. Later, during our eleventh grade New York trip, we were the first class from Austin Prep to visit the 9/11 Memorial commemorating the ten year anniversary of the devastating attacks Now, as seniors completing our journey from Austin Prep, some of us have had the privilege to cast our vote in the 2012 presidential election and make a difference in our country today. We are helping to make history, but we will never forget where we came from, and how tt all began. We live for truth, honor and respect for our nation and all the nations of our world, and we will always fight to uphold these virtues.

As we say good-bye, we recognize the lasting legacy that he will leave behind. Mr. Moran first came to Austin Prep thirty two years ago as an English teacher. Since his time at Austin, the school has improved and grown as a result of Mr. Moran's hard work. He has maintained the Catholic and Augustinian traditions in the Austin Prep education, as the school itself has grown and evolved naturally over time. During his time at Austin, Mr. Moran has helped develop the ~ middle school program and has made Austin a coeducational facility. He encouraged the enrichment of both athletics and arts with the construction of the Multi-Purpose Facility and the new arts wing. After thirty two years as a treasured member of the Austin Prep community, it will be difficult for us to say good-bye. Thank you, Mr. Moran, for all you have done over the years to better all that the school has to offer. As a school community, we wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.
