Girls Lacrosse is in its third year as a varsity sport. The team competes in the Catholic Central League. In 2009 the team went 5-9 overall, finishing fifth in the CCL with a 5-12 league record.

The Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team won their fifth straight Catholic Central Lacrosse League Championship in 2009 with an 11-0 record. Their overall record was 12-2. The team competes in Massachusett's East Division 3

The Girls' Tennis Team won the Catholic Central League Championship in 2009 witha record of 18-0. They advanced to the quarter-final round of the Division 3 North Sectional.

The boys track team is part of the Central Catholic League and finished the season witha 7-2 record. The girls track team is part of the Central Catholic League and finished the season with a 3-6 record.

D.C. program honors Austin Prep student

Presidential Classroom, the United States’ leading civic education organization, recognizes Angela Hart of Austin. Preparatory School as ascholar in attendance at Presidential Classroom in Washington, D.C., June 28 to July 5, 2009. Hart earned th% distinction by being a scholar and leader in the community. Attendance at the program enhances the mission of Presidential Classroom by

encouraging young leaders to be active and engaged citizens. Seventy-two outstanding high school students world wide, were provided the opportunity to explore the political process firsthand. Hart successfully completed all aspects of the Presidential Classroom Scholars program headquartered at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

“We provide students with

the rare opportunity to view our federal government at work, discuss key issues with Washington policymakers, and. to discover the importance of responsible citizenship,” said Acting Executive Director, Maria Darie. “Our scholars are aselect group of students who have gone a Step further and will put the lessons learned here at Presidential Classroom into action.”

Danversbank collecting back-to-school supplies

Danversbank announces that its annual school supply drive for the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless is now underway. Danversbank is the principal subsidiary of Danvers Bancorp, Inc.

Between July 13 and August 14, all Danversbank branches will be drop-off sites

for donations of any new school supplies donors are generous enough to give, including but not limited to the following:

Rehearsals are in full swing for Wakefield Repertory Youth Theatre’s production of “Willy Wonka.” The actors and actresses are hard at work, polishing those dance numbers and practicing the magical tunes from this beloved story, which opens on August 6 at 7:30 p.m. and runs until August 8 at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School Auditorium.

tering grade five to entering grade nine. The program is designed to teach children about the joy of theater while putting together a spectacular musical theater production. WRYT is one of the first theater companies to perform the full version of Charlie Bucket’s adventures in the Chocolate Factory.
