OMEGA

Thanks Mr.

Doubleday

lve known Mr. Doubleday for three years and ye rarely met a more selfless man. as moderator of the senior class, he has devoted his free time and all his effort to making the slass of 1986 the best group of induviduals to emerge from Austin. With his sense of humor, “Bae and sensitivity, he has impressed pon the students of Austin those values that jake him noteworthy and respected. He has provided inspiration to the seniors, and has been less an authority figure and more a friend...

Sure, we all love Mr. Doubleday, but how much do we really know about him? The Omega Staff thinks the time has come to learn about the man behind the myth, though his personal reflections.

On being an English teacher: “So few people care about adverbs and adjectives anymore,” he laments. Indeed he views his almost infinite knowledge as, “. pearls of wisdom cast before swine.”

On being coach of spring track: “It’s not for the squeamish,” he warns. “It helps to be a sadomasochist, and taking alot of valium.”

On being moderator of the senior class: “It’s the best class to ever graduate from Austin.” He concludes, “I see it as a reflection of the moderator. They owe it all to me!”

On himself: “Neurotic,” he affirms, “handsome, laid back, charming. and having a persecution complex.”

Thank you, Mr. Doubleday.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry could not travel both And be one traveler, long stood And looked down one as far as could To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them, really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, doubted if should ever come back.

shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in @ wood, and — took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. — Robert Frost

The 1986 Omega staff has taken a different road on this years yearbook. We hope the senior class appreciates Our new ideas and changes in their yearbook. To gain a factor of unity we used a time enjoyable to all students, that time being summer. For some, Summer is beach days and bright sun, while for others it is a

freedom like no other time of the year. For all, however, it is a time for having fun.

And remember. Summer isn’t a season, it’s a way of life; it’s getting out of school and saying “Hey bud, lets party!”

Glory Days

had a friend who was a big baseball player back in high school

He could throw that speedball by you

Make you look like a fool boy

Saw him the other night at this roadside bar, was walking in and he was walking out

We went back inside sat down, had a few drinks but all he kept talking about was

Glory days well they’ll pass you by Glory days in the wink of a young girl’s eye Glory days, glory days

There’s a girl that lives up the block back in school she could turn all the boys’ heads

Sometimes on a Friday I'll stop by and have a few drinks after she put her kids to bed

Her and her husband Bobby well they split up guess it’s two years gone by now

We just sit around talking about the old times, she says when she feels like crying she starts laughing thinking about

Glory days well they’ll pass you by

Glory days in the wink of a young girl’s eye

Glory days, glory days

Think I’m going down to the well tonight and I’m going to drink till get my fill

And hope when get old don’t sit around thinking about it but probably will

Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture a little of the glory of, but time slips away and leaves you with nothing mister but boring stories of glory days

Glory days well they’ll pass you by Glory days in the wink of a young girl’s eye Glory days, glory days
