Varsity Football Team: Sitting left to right; S. Burke, W. Twohig, B. Sheehan, J. Perry, B. Pacheco, K. Price, L. Govoni. Kneeling left to right; J. Murphy, J. Beaver, D. Bruno, K. Carrol, T. Marino, D. Hayden, E. Doyle, D. Lavery, D. Beaver, J. Donovan. First row standing from left to right; P. Pacos (trainer), P. Teague, K. Hurley, M. Govoni, A. Fosse, B. Haynes, D. Kelly, D. Patten, J. Dubois, M. Costello, M. Phillips, (Captain), J. Finacharo, E. Daley, R. Farrell, T. Burke, (Captain), R. Smith, M. Donahue, (Captain), J. Land, P. Lamboghini, C. Bruce, (Manager). Back row standing; L. Cumerford, R. Gavin, R. Gagnon, T. Callaghan, M. Loiselle, Z. Mierzwa, M. Clarke, C. Gaudet, K. McConnell, N. Deltorto.
The football season was characterized by near misses. Two ties and a one point loss kept the Cougars from having a truly outstanding season. They bounced back from a season opening loss to Lawrence, to win two straight against Central Catholic and Methuen. Their next opponent was Andover, a team destined to win the Division Two Super Bowl. A great team effort fell short 7-6. They lost only one of their final five, defeated Chelmsford and Billerica, finishing with a 4-3-2 record. Ane tinitaestthenpelda

Varsity Cross Country: sitting; M. Beatrice, C. Pierce, L. Norman, B. Pierce, J. Carroll, D. Donahue. Kneeling; M. Zerfas, M. Belanger, R. Skovholt, B. O’Sullivan, C. McQuade, B. O'Donnell, M. Higgins Standing: Coach B. LeHane, K. Callahan, J. Coneeny, M. Arsenault, M. Parolin, B. Dunlavey, B. Geary, Asst. Coach T. McDonough.
The 1974 Cross Country season was very disappointing, as they were unable to win a single dual meet. Despite their poor record, they possessed many outstanding individual runners. Led by Junior Kevin Callahan, who finished ninth in the league meet, the team got fine performances from Captain Mark Arsenault, Bill Geary, Brian Dunlavey, and Joe Connenny. The final Lunar experience of the season taught us that the moon always shines on the Austin Prep Cross Country program.
1975 Varsity Winter Track Team: front row: B. Trainor, C. Pierce, S. Thompson, T. O’Brien, J. Glocking, M. Beatrice, J. DiBiase, P. Graczik, J. Winnett. second row: J. Galvin, P. Rienzo, M. Govoni, J. Ricci, T. Dunn, L. MacLean, R. Bearse, W. Pierce, J. Bentubo, D. Adamy, R. Kowalchik. third row: Coach Lehane, J. Wells, E. Swymer, T. Hines, P. Genovese, M. Phillips, S. O’Donnell, P. Lambroghini, M. Loiselle, K. McConnell, M. Donahue, B. Sheehan, B. Conte, W. Gallagher, Coach McDonough back row: J. Smith, K. Callahan, W. Geary, B. Dunlavey, J. Coneeny, J. Land, D. Kelly, G. Jenkins, D. Martin.
The winter track team, much like the cross country team, was continually plagued by the lack of depth. The season was highlighted by Mike Phillip’s Merrimack Valley League record in the shotput. Others who made major contributions to the team efforts were Kevin Callahan, Peter Lambroghini, Ken McConnell, Jon Land, and Steve O’Donnell.

The 1974-75 Austin basketball team fought hard all season and gained the respect of their Merrimack Valley opponents. The team was led by co-captains Tom Murphy and Terry Burke. Lou Bouvier, Pat Murphy, Ted Coppinger, Tom Mortensen, and Art Fosse all distinguished themselves during this frustrating season. The able reserve corps of Kevin Keane, Ed O’Brian, and Kevin Dunlavey also contributed their talents.

The Loyal following.
1975 Varsity Hockey Team: Eastern Massachusetts Division II Finalists: Front Row: Don Roberts, Lou Cappucci, Rick Silvia, Captain Ron Nelson, John Woodford, Wayne Taylor, Steve Vasaturo. Second Row: Coach Arthur Ruggles, manager Carl Van Laetham, Dan Shannon, Thom Lawler, Jeff Donovan, Tom Silvia, Chuck Gaudet, Mike O’Connor, Tony Santullo, Coach Gary Bishop. Third Row: Brett Costa, Ken Berthiaume, Paul Miller, Tom Carr, Charles Antetomaso, Mark Sheldon, Rich O'Neill.

The 1974-75 Hockey season saw the Cougars attain heights barely dreamed of. After a hard third place finish in the Merrimack Valley Conference (11-4-1, 23 points), the team qualified for the State Tournament “‘by scoring a tying goal with one second remaining in its final regular season game.” (Globe, every night, Feb. 25-March 11.)
The scoring was paced by Tom Carr (14 goals, 22 assists, 36 points) and Paul Miller (13 goals, 21 assists, 34 points) during the league season. Most goals, however, were scored by Tony Santullo (18, 8 assists, 26 points). By qualifying last among the thirty-four teams in the States, the team faced the toughest possible draw in the road to the Boston Garden.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD .......... Mr. Gerard R. Bouvier, ‘74 1974 Recipient
“| decline to accept the end of man. It is easy enough to say that man is immortal simply because he will endure; that when the last ding-dong of doom has clanged and faded from the last worthless rock hanging tideless in the last red and dying evening, that even then there will still be One more sound; that of his puny inexhaustible voice, still talking. | refuse to accept this.
“| believe that man will not merely endure; he will prevail. He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance.”
