DECEMBER 2021 ==================================================================================================

Hello District 1-A Lions,

I began writing this article on the plane ride to Phoenix, but continued writing it on my sons’ patio where the weather is a balmy 77 degrees sipping on a cup of coffee. Hope your Thanksgiving was a happy one for all of you and you were able to spend time with your family and friends. I thought I would provide you with a recap of the state of the District. We continue to be a plus in membership (+42). However, this number changes minute by minute. 58% of our clubs are reporting their service activities. This is an indication that our clubs are back out in the communities doing their work.

We currently have 17 clubs who have made donations to LCIF. However, after the LCIF raffle, I expect our numbers to increase to 35 clubs, which is 50% of our clubs. We are in the process of chartering a new club KOPE Cyber Lions of District 1-A, sponsored by the Calumet City Lions Club. Additionally, a new Leo Club is also in the process of being chartered Reavis High School Leo club, sponsored by the Burbank Lions club. Watch for more information in the near future. Retention is an ongoing battle; the December drops are upon us……...we need your help. Please reach out to Lions in your club, who you haven’t seen for a while. Lions need to feel engaged and reaching out to them may relight their passion. We continue to look for a Second Vice District Governor. Are you interested? Please reach out to me.
