Dear all,
We are currently working on The Goa Directory of Authors and warmly invite anyone who has authored or compiled-and-edited one or more books to share their details with us online.
The project is open to: (i) authors based in Goa writing in any language, (ii) Goan authors in the diaspora, and (iii) authors of books related to Goa.
The online form contains six brief sections covering: – name and contact details, – writing profile (languages, genres, and years active), – books authored (with a one-line description and year of publication), – a short bio, and – a request for a photograph.
The form can be filled here: https://forms.gle/Y5pKMeSUGzmChF1d8
We would be grateful if you could also share this request with others who may be relevant to the project.
Our plan is to first create an ebook directory and, later, possibly a print publication as well. Lynn Frank is assisting with this initiative.

Itseemstobe anever-ending circle of hate, violence and war; destruction, division and discrimination. Today, corruption, exclusion and exploitation reign supreme. Politics has reached its nadir, with blackmail, poaching, party-crossing and co-option. Denigration and demonization of the other is the new name of a vicious game. Lies, ‘fekuisms’, and changing one’s tune to suit one’s whims and fancies has become the newnormal. Nobody seems tocare anymore iftheygetwhattheywant. One certainly does not need too much of intelligence to realise that
ourworldtodayisbroken, battered, bruised and brutalised. Images of bombing and killing, plundering and devastation make front-page newsandhogtheheadlines both in the print and electronic media! We never seem to learn. The soul of humanityiscrushedasthepowerful vestedinterests; fascistregimes and the industrial military complex (the arms and ammunition industry) make scandalous profits on the blood and lives of millions of people.

Significantly, given the grim reality of the world, on 24 October 2024, ourlatePopeFrancisgaveushislast encyclical‘DilexitNos’(Helovedus), on the Human and Divine Love of the Heart of Jesus Christ. ‘Dilexit Nos’was notonly timely, butitalso underlined the need for and importance oflove inaworld, which has lost heart! The release of the Encyclical, about six months before Pope Francis died, coincided with celebrations commemorating the 350th anniversary of the first appearance of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1673. On 27 December of that year, Jesus appeared to the young26-year-old FrenchVisitation nun, entrusting herwiththemission of spreading His love, particularly toward sinners. These apparitions, which took place at the convent of Paray-le-Monial in Burgundy, Francecontinuedfor17years.Christ showed His heart surrounded by flames and encircled by a crown of thorns symbolizing the wounds inflictedby human sin.St.Margaret Marywasinitiallymisunderstood by many, including herfellownunsbut she remained steadfast in her mission toreveal Christ’s love tothe
world. TheJesuitPriestFr.ClaudeLa Colombière (now a Saint) who was appointed to her Convent as SpiritualDirectorandConfessorwas convinced of the visions that MargaretMaryhadfromtheSacred Heart; he became an ardent supporter of the devotion to the heartofJesus.
In 1856, Pius IXextended the Feast of the Sacred Heart to the Latin Church under the rite of double major.Itwastobecelebratedonthe Friday after the Octave of Corpus Christi. InJune 1889, LeoXIII raised the feast to the dignity of the first class with the liturgical changes in 1969, the feast was assigned the highest rankofsolemnity. Today, in several non- Catholic countries in the world and in many dioceses in India, the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, is observed

on the Sunday after‘Corpus Christi’; so,thisyearitisonSunday14June.
‘Dilexit Nos’is an outstanding encyclicalbecauseitdrawsfromthe richness of Scripture, the Church Fathers, andwritings of pastpopes. Italsobrings us closertothesaints, such as Thérèse of Lisieux, Francis de Sales, Ignatius Loyola, and Charles de Foucauld. All of this deepens ourloveforGod,especially for His Sacred Heart. Pope Francis, expressed his hope that the encyclicalwould invite reflection on aspectsoftheLord's lovethatcould illuminate the path of ecclesial renewal and resonate meaningfully with "aworld thatseemstohave lost its heart." The Encyclical retraces the tradition andrelevance of thought on “the human and divine love of the heart of Jesus Christ,” calling for a renewal of authentic devotion to avoid forgetting the tenderness of faith, thejoyofserving, andthefervourof mission.
In the opening chapter of the Encyclical, ‘TheImportance ofthe Heart’,Pope Francis explains why it is necessaryto “returntotheheart”
inaworld where we aretempted to become “insatiableconsumers and slaves to the mechanisms of the market” It analyses what we mean by “heart”: The Bible speaks of it as a core “thatlieshiddenbeneathall outward appearances” a place where whatisshownontheoutside or hidden doesn’t matter; there, we are truly ourselves. The heart leads to questions that matter: what meaningdoIwantformylife,my choices, ormyactions?WhoamI beforeGod?PopeFrancispointsout that the current “depreciation” of the heartoriginated in Hellenic and pre-Christian rationalism, in postChristian idealism, and in materialism in its various guises” where great philosophical thought prioritized concepts like “reason, will, or freedom.” He states, “The failuretomakeroomfortheheart… hasresultedinastuntingoftheidea ofapersonalcentre, inwhichlove, intheend, istheonerealitythatcan unify all the others” For Pope Francis, itis important to recognize that “Iammyheart, formyheartis what sets me apart, shapes my spiritual identity andputs me in communionwithotherpeople”
About a year later, on 4 October 2025, Pope Leo XIV gave the world hisfirstApostolic Exhortation ‘Dilexi Te’(‘I Have Loved You’), addressed "to allChristians on love for the poor” Pope Leo said that actually, this document was begun by Pope Francis),but he added to it and wanted to issue it near the beginning of his papacy "since I share the desire of my beloved predecessorthatallChristianscome toappreciatethecloseconnection between Christ's love and his summons to care for the poor. ChristiansneedtogobackandrereadtheGospelbecausetheyhave forgottenthatfaithandloveforthe poorgohandinhand....Loveforthe poor whatever the form their poverty may take is the evangelical hallmark of aChurch faithfultotheheartofGod.”
In one masterstroke, Pope Leo proclaimed unequivocally to the world, severalimportant andmuchneeded messages; included among themare:thattheChurchsideswith andtakes astandforthepoor; that we allmustbe aware thatthere are "structures of sin" that keep the poor inpoverty andleadthose who have sufficient resources to ignore
the poor or think they are better than them andthat “weneedtobe increasinglycommittedtoresolving the structural causes of poverty;” and that without doubt, he was going to continue with the legacy Pope Francis left him of transforming the Church from withinbyresponding tothesignsof thetimes!
InthecontextoftheSacredHeartof Jesus, each one of us is called ‘to have a Heart’ like that of Jesus. This invitation can be encapsulated into fiveinter-related dimensions:
FIRE: Jesus’ burns with love for us! Hisheartisaflame!Wearecalledto radiate this love of Jesus to all around us. Just as St Ignatius of Loyola missioned his companions “to set the world on fire!”
FORGIVENESS: God’s love for us, is forgiving! Jesus always forgave the repentant sinner, though he never forgave the sin (both personal and structural). We are called to do likewise!
FEARLESSNESS: To love God and othersistodosowithoutfear!Jesus himself has told us often to “fearno one!” To have a heart means loving allanddoing so visibly, vocally and indeed!
FREEDOM: It is love that sets us free! Hate, violence, war ensnares andenslavesus!Lovemakesustruly human and, in many ways, divine. Wearecalledtobe freemen and women andinlove!
FRATERNITY: In ‘FratelliTutti’Pope Francis reminds us thatwe need to transcend our exclusiveness and narrowness to reach out to others. Building a fraternal world is our mandate!
To ‘have a heart’ is to live the Fire, Forgiveness, Fearlessness, Freedom andFraternityoftheSacredHeartof Jesus! In the concluding para of his
exhortation ‘Dilexi Te’ Pope Leo says, “Through your work, your efforts to change unjust social structuresoryoursimple, heartfelt gestureofclosenessandsupport, thepoorwillcometorealizethat Jesus’ words are addressed personallytoeachofthem:“Ihave loved you” . We are all invited to ‘have a heart’!

Bengaluru, Jun 9: NRI, entrepreneur, and globally renowned philanthropist Dr Ronald Colaco, along with Dr Arathi Krishna, member of the legislative council (MLC), government of Karnataka, and AICC secretary in charge of the Indian Overseas Congress and vice chairperson of the foreign affairs department, visited chief minister D K Shivakumar at his office in Vidhana Soudha on Monday, June8.

They greeted him upon his assuming office as the 25th chief minister of Karnataka and wished him success in his endeavours to take the state to new heights through all-around economic development and maintaining excellent communal harmony amongst all cross-sections of society.
During the meeting, Dr Ronald Colacosoughtclarification fromthe chief minister regarding his recent announcement concerning the setting up of a non-resident Kannadigas secretariat.
The chief minister invited his newly appointed financial advisor and chairman ofthebusiness corridor, L K Atheeq, IAS, as well as private secretary Dr M N Rajendra Prasad, KAS, to join the discussion onthe
The chief minister explained that a non-resident Kannadigas ministry will initially be set up under his office with the required secretariat and departments, alongside the allocationofanecessarybudget. He added that it would be his prerogative to hand over this ministry toasuitable person later.L KAtheeqpresented adetailed note regarding this matter during the discussion.
Dr Ronald Colaco and Dr Arathi Krishna requested that their input alsobe considered before finalising the objectives of the setting up of departments, andpolicies, to which thechiefminister agreed. It may be recalled that Dr Ronald Colaco had led a 45-member NRI delegation representing various associations of Kannadigas across over 30 countries to meet the then chief minister Siddaramaiah, and the then deputy chief minister and present chief minister D K Shivakumar, attheSuvarnaVidhana Soudha in Belagavi during the winter session in December 2025, with an appeal forthe formation of anNRIministryinKarnataka.
The essence of this appeal includes:
1. Creation of a separate ministry, secretariat, and departments dedicated to the affairs of NRI Kannadigas as well as non-resident Indians from all states residing in Karnataka.
2. Establishment of a Rs 1,000 crore revolving fund to support Kannadiga NRIs wishing to set up industries in Karnataka or permanently relocate.
Dr Ronald Colaco had explained that Karnataka is lagging other Indian states in NRI engagement. He pointed out that Kerala has shown real concern for its nonresidentKeralites (NRKs)bycreating a separate NRI ministry, which has yielded significantbenefits forboth NRKsandKerala’seconomy. Several states, including Gujarat, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Goa, already possess dedicated NRI departments, grievance cells, NRI protection units, investment facilitation bodies, and structured diaspora policies. Karnataka, despite having one of the largest skilled diasporas, still lacks an institutional framework.
Such departments under aseparate ministry could:
1. Serveasasingle-window facilitation centre for all NRK and NRI-related matters.
2. Provide structured support for investment, grievance redressal, property disputes, and legal assistance.
3. Promote cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges.
4. Strengthening Karnataka’s global networks to enhance trade, technology transfer, and partnerships.
5. Facilitate skill development for employment abroad.
6. Promote all-around tourism development, as NRIs contribute significantly to Karnataka’s tourism sector, with over 25–30% of annual high-value visitors being returning Kannadigas andtheirfamilies.
7. Realestatepurchases byKannadiga NRIs contribute to urban development, construction activity, andhousing sectorgrowth inmajor citiesandcoastalKarnataka. Operationalization of the Rs 1,000 crore revolving fund promised in the manifesto would greatly encourage NRKs to invest in Karnataka’s industrial and service
sectors, support returning NRKs in setting up enterprises andstartups, boost employment generation, and promote reverse migration by enabling Kannadigas abroad to return withdignity andopportunity. Additional suggestions for strengthening NRK engagement include creating an NRI grievance redressal cell, hosting an annual global Kannadiga conclave, simplifying procedures for NRI participation in state development projects, introducing NRI identity cards, and partnering with NRI organizations abroad. Fulfilling the manifesto promise regarding these initiatives will demonstrate the government's commitment to its people, build global goodwill, strengthen trustamong over 30–32 lac Kannadigas worldwide, and enhanceinvestor confidence. Dr Ronald Colaco also submitted statistics regarding the significant socio-economic contributions of the global Kannadiga diaspora to Karnataka and India. Key indicators include family remittances estimated at USD 10 to 11 billion annually to Karnataka, over 6,000 NRI-led enterprises operating across various sectors, knowledge
transfer from professionals employed in topglobal institutions, annual charitable contributions of Rs 600–800 crore, and global
cultural representation through over 200 active Kannadiga associations.

Today a sizeable section of the Catholic Church, celebrates/d the Feast of ‘Corpus Christi' also known as the ‘Solemnity of the Most Holy
Body and Blood of Christ’. It is a liturgical solemnity celebrating the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The origins of this feast can be traced back to St. Thomas Aquinas (the year 1264) who made a proposal to the then Pope Urban IV, to create a feast focused solely
on the Holy Eucharist. This was to emphasize the joy of the Eucharist beingtheBodyandBlood, Souland Divinity of Jesus Christ. In the context of an authenticated Eucharistic miracle, Pope Urban declared this Solemnity for the entire Church. The feast is liturgically celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday or where the Solemnity of the Most HolyBodyandBloodofChristisnot aholy dayof obligation (as in most countriesoftheworld),itisassigned to the Sunday after the Most Holy Trinity, asitsproper day.Thefeastis also observed by certain Western Orthodox, Lutheran, and Anglican churches.
About nine weeks earlier, the Church celebrated the Feast of 'Maundy Thursday': the institution of the Eucharist at the LastSupper, the commemoration of Christ's washing of the disciples' feet, the institution of the priesthood, and the agonyof Jesusinthe Garden of Gethsemane. In this context, we need toremember Krishen Khanna, who belonged to the Progressive Artists Group, is one of India’s most celebratedartists. Amonghisworks
are some ‘Last Suppers’; there is however, one ‘Last Supper’ which has captivated the imagination of manyandhasalsobeen asource of inspiration. The painting portrays a grotesque figure (battered and bruised), with the upper part of the body covered with a shroud and radiating a special light: this is obviously Jesus.Seated around him aretwelvefiguresandonecaneasily seeinthe portrait, the poorandthe ostracized, the excluded and the exploited with whom Jesus identified. There is no cup, there is noplate! There isnobread, there is no wine! The ‘Jesus’ in the picture, with hands outstretched is so obviously receiving from the others – and in turn giving of himself. A trulypowerful representation of the ‘Last Supper’, which says more than the eye can see. Commenting on this painting, Gayatri Sinha in the book, ‘Krishen Khanna:TheEmbrace of Love’ writes, “BylocatingtheLast Supperwithinthisgroup,Khanna opens the possibilities of varied interpretation. Theabsenceofany vestigeofthemeal, thesubaltern status of the dark rough-hewed men, their tense huddled bodies
betray an anxious concern with issuesofsurvival.”
Henri Nouwen in his book, ‘Life of the Beloved’ situates the Eucharist in four words: taken, blessed, broken, given. He says that these four words give a summary of the movementoftheSpiritinourlife. As Christians we are taken, blessed, broken and given. That means that wetooarelikebread.WeinviteGod and allow God to take us, bless us, breakusandshareuswithothers. In essence this is the Eucharist! This is what takes place when Jesus feeds the five thousand in the miracle of theloavesandfishes.Hetakes what an insignificant little boy has; blesses it and gives thanks to his Father; those loaves of bread are broken and given; and after the sharing there is plenty remaining. The four words are also the four clear, directive actions that Jesus does when he served his disciples the Last Supper. He took bread, blessedit, brokeit, andgaveit.Jesus was then (and continues to do so) inviting ustopayattention tothese verbs: take, bless, break, give – all action words, and he asked (and
continues to ask us today) his disciples todolikewise!
We thus need to understand the four integral and inter-related dimensions oftheEucharist: Taken: Who we are, what we have, we give to the Lord; just like the shepherds or the Magi at the birth ofJesus;orforthatmatter, whatthe little boy had to offer (five loaves andtwofish)orthe widow with her measlymite.Itistheactualisationof the prayer of St. Ignatius Loyola, “Takeandreceive,OLord…”Atthe Offertory procession, the gifts are symbolic of ourselves; they are offeredto theLord tobe taken. We are called to give freely and unconditionally! Hetakes us! Blessed:Wealllongforblessings. In Latin, the word for ‘bless’ is ‘benediction’ which is a combination of two words, bene (well) and dictio (speaking) and translates to‘speakinggood things.’ We all need affirmation and deep encouragement. Blessing however, is more than a simple praise or appreciation; togive ablessing isto affirm a person’s worth, dignity and identity. EachtimeJesusblesses the bread, itisanaffirmationofallthose
present, even as he thanks his own Father for all the blessings and graces beingshowered down.
Broken: The bread is broken, symbolic of our own brokenness and the broken world we live in, a world, which cries for healing, for wholeness. Brokenness includes disappointments, wounds, suffering sadness- our own and that of others! Our world is broken by poverty and misery, exclusion and exploitation, discrimination and denigration, people being denied legitimate rights. Our late Pope Francis often reminded us that the Church is also a community of the broken. We gather around the Eucharistic table to support one another, to share our brokenness and in doing so, to help in the healingofothers.
Given: The bread that is broken is the bread that is given for the fullnessoflife.Itisshared. Itcannot be otherwise. At the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves, only when the broken bread is shared, there is plenty leftover. Itis love in the most complete sense of the word. The more you give love, the more loveyouhave.TheEucharistis the pinnacle of love: God giving
himself tousandinviting ustogive ourselves toothers.
The Eucharist then, is in essence whatwe arereminded aboutday-in and day-out by those immortal words of Jesus at the Last Supper. Scripture tells us that, “He took bread, saidtheblessing, brokeit, andgave ittothem, andsaid, “Take, this is my body.” Words whichneedtoshakeus outof our complacency; get us out of our comfortzones.Tobe the body of Christinourworldtoday.Intaking a visibleandvocalstandfortruth and justice in today’s world – we in fact share in the sufferingand passion of Jesus! We become bread that is broken and which needsto be sharedsothatothers may have life. As disciples of Jesus, (like those of Emmaus) we cannot fight shy of this fundamental responsibility which has been entrusted to us!
We are called to be at Krishen Khanna’s ‘Last Supper’, to look around, to see who allare present! Weneedtowake uptothefactthat the Eucharist is the bread that is taken, blessed, broken and given.!
LetusbeauthenticdisciplesofJesus in today’s world as we listen andact onhiswords, “Dothisinmemoryof me!”
Today, in Madrid, presiding over Corpus Christi celebrations with a participating congregation of 1.2 million, Pope Leo XIV explained howCorpusChristicallsonus"tobe broughtoutofourselfishnessand indifference, of a comfortable, privatefaith, soastorespondtohis invitationtoconversion, tochange ourperspective, andtowelcomehis presencewhichtransformsusand makesusbuildersofanewworld.”

An American Catholic couple just went viralfor celebrating their 70th anniversary surrounded by an incredible legacy.At93and90years old, they’ve welcomed 11 children, 68 grandchildren, and 109 greatgrandchildren (with 11more on the way!). Counting spouses, this beautiful family is 244 strong and rapidly growing to255. The anniversary was marked by a beautifulMasscelebrated byoneof

What’s the secret to this profound blessing? According to their daughter Nicole, it’s rooted in daily faithfulness: praying the family Rosary, attending Holy Mass, devotion to the Stations of the Cross, embracing the traditional roles of father and mother, and maintaining a totalopenness tolife without ever closing the doors to God’s will.
In atime when the family unitis so often challenged, this couple is a powerfulreminder thatitispossible to build a strong, faithfulhome full of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who remain devoted to the Church. This is true "generational wealth" not measured in material things, but in souls wholoveChrist.

TheOladriver accusedofTuesday's savage assault on a 70-year-old man in Thane has been charged with attempt tomurder. Theelderly gentleman's offence was to object to the driver gargling and spitting on a public road. An outraged Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reportedly directed stern action be taken. Thane RTO is considering suspension of the driver's permit and cancellation of his licence. Iampleasedtohearthis.Toooften,
public outrage fades, media attention moves elsewhere, and promised action quietly disappears with it.Ihopethatdoesnothappen here. The victim must undergo surgery for a fractured leg. Physical injuries willhealintime.Thetrauma suffered by him and his wife may not.
On Wednesday evening, the accused was taken back to the scene as police reconstructed the sequence of events and prepared the necessary documentation for their investigation. That is how justice is supposed to work: methodically, patiently and according to law. The case appears strong. Theassaultwascaptured on videoandhasbeenseenbymillions. Iwatchedthatvideoseveraltimes. It became harder to watch with each viewing.
What disturbed me most was not only the violence of the attack but the passivity surrounding it. The elderly couple fought back with remarkable courage. Yet for
precious moments, those presents seemed frozen by uncertainty. People watched. People hesitated. People waited. When did we become like this?
We are quick to raise our voices over politics, religion, ideology and identity. We are easily provoked into outrage by strangers on television and social media. Yet when an elderly man isassaulted in frontofus forstanding upforbasic civic decency, many of us suddenly become spectators.
The driver should face the full consequencesofthelaw.Thatmuch is obvious. Butthe deeper question thisincidentleavesbehindisonefor the rest of us. If we witness wrongdoing and choose silence, if we see the vulnerable being attacked and looking away, what exactly are we becoming as a society? That, to me, is the real shameofthe Thaneincident.

Lucknow, June 12, 2026: Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has directed all universities and higher educational institutions in the state, including medical and dental colleges, to establish “anticonversion cells” to address alleged concerns related to religious conversion attempts on campuses.
The directive was issued through a communication from the Governor’s Secretariat to vicechancellors, directors, and heads of educational institutions. The move hasreceived backing fromthe state government led by the Bharatiya JanataParty.
Theletterinstructeduniversities and colleges to improve counselling
services, student welfare mechanisms, reporting procedures, and preventive safeguards following claimsthatsome students were allegedly being influenced through inducements, psychological pressure, or other unethicalmeans.
The communication stated thatany illegalorforcedreligious conversion attempt involving fear, mental pressure, or unfair inducements would be “unacceptable, unethical andcontrary tolaw.”
The Governor’s Secretariat has also called for strengthening “AntiRadicalisation” units and Student WelfareCellswithin universities and institutions.
According to the directive, these units should actively address complaints, monitor concerns raised by students, and ensure appropriate action where necessary.
Educational institutions have been instructed to organise lectures and seminars focusing on “moral values, logical thinking andlegal rights.” The aim of these programmes, according to the directive, is to create awareness among students about legal protections and encourage informed decisionmaking.
Thecommunication furtherdirected universities and colleges to immediately notify local administration and police authorities if any organisation, group, or individual is found engaging in suspicious activities connected to alleged conversion attempts.
Officials have stated that such reporting mechanisms areintended to ensure timely intervention in casesinvolving unlawfulactivities.
Several institutions have reportedly started implementing the directive. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University has instructed affiliated institutions to establish such cells and submit compliance reports following recent concerns raised in thestate.
The decision has triggered discussion over the role of educational institutions in monitoring alleged forced conversions. Supporters argue that such mechanisms can help prevent coercionandprotectstudents, while critics have raised concerns about possible misuse and the impact on individual religious freedom and campus autonomy. The development has brought renewed attention to the wider debate between preventing
unlawful conversion practices and safeguarding constitutional rights, including freedomofreligion and personal choice. Courtesy The Wire -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROME, June 12, 2026 Rev. Dr Lizel Joy D'Souza of the Diocese of Mangalore has been awarded a doctorate by the Pontifical Athenaeum of Saint Anselm for his research titled “The Nativity of the BlessedVirgin MaryandtheMonthi Feast in the Diocese of Mangalore: A Liturgical, Theological and Anthropological Study.” The public defense of the thesis was held on
June 12, 2026, at the Athenaeum's campus inRome.
For generations, the Konkani Catholic community has celebrated the Monthi Feast, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on September 8, with devotion and joy, marked by family gatherings, the blessing of new grain, and the veneration of the Infant Mary. Despite itscentralplace inthe

religious and cultural life of the community, the feast had never been the subject of comprehensive academic study.
Rev.DrLizelD'Souza's research fills this gap by examining the Monthi Feast through the integrated perspectives of liturgy, theology, and anthropology. The study highlights how a universal Marian feast of the Church has been received, interpreted, and enriched within the Konkani Catholic tradition.
Tracing the feast's historical development, the thesis follows its origins infifth-centuryJerusalem,its growth throughByzantinehymnody in the Eastern Church, and its eventual incorporation into the Roman Rite during the pontificate of Pope Sergius I. The research draws attention to significant Latin theological expressions such as salutisexordium(“the beginning of salvation”) and aurorasalutis(“the dawn of salvation”), demonstrating howMariantheology consistently

points to Christ and the mystery of salvation.
Thestudyfurtherexplores howthe Roman liturgical tradition was received and creatively expressed by Konkani Catholics through local hymns, novenaprayers, theblessing of new grain, and the cherished devotion to Maria Bambina (the uniquestatueofinfantMary). These practices, the research argues, reveal the dynamic interaction between universal Catholic worship andlocalculturalexpression.
Among its notable findings, the thesis also examines translation challenges in the 1981 Konkani Missal and their implications for theological fidelity. Based on its analysis, thestudy proposes several practical recommendations, including the preparation of a revised Novena booklet, the introduction of aProper Preface for the Monthi Feast, and renewed efforts inliturgicalcatechesis.
The thesis was moderated by Dr Stefan Geiger, while Dr OlivierMarie Sarr andDrGonzaloGuzmán
served as the first and second censors, respectively. The defense was attended by priests and religious Rev.om the Diocese of Mangalore currently residing in Rome, as well as the Priest and parishioners of St Thomas Church, Infernetto, Rome.
