The Lie

What is it about life and death, that leaves us seeking answers yet

Religion has sought to create a narrative, they each swear by While science works tirelessly to immortalise man Birth and death continues to play on, sparing nothing on earth

We celebrate the birth of a child, failing to realise a crucial fact From that first breath, we've clocked in, and every second counts

Gravity gives us a false sense of time, that doesn't really exist Everything is born to die, yet we live like times in our hands

What is it about life and death, why does it hurt so much

Religion tends to glorify death, while science objectifies Irrespective of either or, life continues this charade, screen after screen

Birth and death, joy and pain and hope and dreams, till who knows when

If only science was right, if only we weren't programmed so well

It hurts to feel, it hurts to think, it hurts to be alive

Running chasing dreams until our times runs out

Blaming situations predisposed for us before we were born
