Mpumalanga Premier satisfied with the Shabane court rulling Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane says she is very pleased with the outcome of the case. “This is what we wanted for this man to go to jail for life, we hope that this sentence will be handed over to the rest of the suspects. The sentence will serve as deterrent to other people not to kill people with albinism, our children and women. As women of South Africa and Mpumalanga in particular we are

very much happy when this sentenced is handed down during Women's month, said MtshweniTsipane. Thulani Thubane (41) has been sentenced to two life sentences and five years in prison for killing Gabisile Shabane (13), a child with albinism and her fifteen-month-old cousin Nkosikhona Ngwenya.

Three more suspected are to stand trial for the same crimes in May next year. The Premier has applauded the Mpumalanga Police, Police from the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Mpumalnga National Prosecuting Authority for the manner in which they handled the case. The Premier has also thanked the community and different political

parties for their support to the Shabane and Ngwenya family by attending the trial this week. “We must continue to give the family support so that they know we are with them and we feel their pain. We as the Mpumalanga community we will not tolerate any abuse against people with albinism, our children and women,” said Mtshweni-Tsipane.
