ETHANOL PLANTS

Ethanol production, creating a cost-effective and renewable alternate fuel, is becoming a significant industry in southern Minnesota. Processing corn products instead of exporting raw corn doubles the value of each bushel. There are three Ethanol Plants adjacent to Mower County; one in Fillmore, one in Dodge and one in Mitchel, Iowa.

Mower County is well known for being a major player in Wind Energy Production Industry.

n Mower County is the #1 county in the State of Minnesota for wind energy production. n Wind energy generation started in Mower

County in 2007. n Minnesota generates 20% of its power now through wind; more than 800,000 megawatt hours MWh – which is enough to power 101,00 average residential households for a year. n Minnesota Ranks 8th in Wind Energy
