A

USA has a long history of students undertaking voluntary roles to deliver student services. Student volunteers are incredibly valuable and vital to the lifeblood of the organisation. Today, AUSA has hundreds of volunteers, running clubs and societies, writing for the newspaper, sitting on committees, putting on events and acting as guides for new students during Freshers’ Week. Volunteering in AUSA is an excellent way of widening your experience whilst at University. It helps you to build professional skills and opens doors for new opportunities. Some of these skills, experiences and opportunities include: • • • • • • •

Communication and interpersonal skills Confidence building Experience of being in a fast paced environment Organisation and time building skills Good for CV and professional development References for other volunteer roles and / or jobs New friendships!
