Our Mission Little Explorer Discovery Center knows that there is no better way for kids to learn, than by having fun. That’s why we focus on playing in the world of science and technology. Little Explorer is a hands-on STEM discovery center that encourages children through experiential learning with exhibits designed just for them.

Business Cards

Our Logo Little Explorer’s logo was created to intertwine the ideas of play, discovery and technology. To create vivid contrast the logo looks best in the brands’ colors against a black background . This plays on the idea of fluorescent light used in technology and science.

Logo with Tagline

Logo Usage & Specifications The Little Explorer’s Logo is designed to be used on it’s own as its simplest form and to be used with a tagline when appropriate. The general rule for the logo is to maintain spatial allowance of at least .5” at each edge. The logo is to be used against a black background.

Logo without Tagline

Inverse/White Background Only inverse the logo to black against a white or light colored background when necessary.

Avoid using a white background unless necessary by design ie: stationary.

Sizing & Space The logo should not be distorted or warped in an any way. The logo should always be scaled proportionately. It should not be sized smaller than 0.7 by 0.7 inches to ensure readability.

The designer should always allow for at least half inch of safe space around the logo.

Color & Pattern The color palette and patterns are inspired by fluorescent lighting and technology. We use this bold and playful theme to get kids excited and to feel encouraged to play.

Pattern Design The pattern designs created for Little Explorer should be used as an accent for products and design. Patterns can be created using illustration assets made for Little Explorer. The designer should pay attention to relevancy when applying pattern.

Illustration The illustrations created for Little Explorer provides visual engagement that is easily understandable for all ages. The connection of characters are relatable for kids and make their experience more memorable.

Illustration Style Little explorers uses vector-based illustrations created with simple shapes and rounded corners. The logo helped inspire the style of the characters and overall appearance of the illustrations.

Illustration Usage Our characters and illustrations help us interact with kids and are an important part of our visual engagement. The illustrations should be used on children’s apparel and merchandise, packaging materials and as accents in other designs.

Creating New Illustrations When creating new illustrations the illustrator should keep in mind the illustration style and subject relativity to science and technology. We encourage playful concepts and interactive designs that children will be excited to see. To keep the illustrations cohesive, the designer must make sure the color palette, as well as black white and gray are used for all illustrations. Illustrations can be used filled or unfilled.

Typography The typography style used for little explorers is created to be both engaging and easily readable.

BC Alphapipe, the primary typeface, is both fun and relative to technology. The secondary typeface, Myriad is used for body text and is easily legible for the purpose of giving information.

Typography Usage When using the typefaces for Little Explorers, the designer should use the primary typeface , BC Alphapipe for headings and emphasized words. The secondary type, Myriad, should be used for body text and subtext. Designer should use discretion with legibility of the design.

Typography Treatment Tracking and kerning should be used to the designer’s discretion with the intention of legibility and equal spacing. When using the typeface, BC Alphapipe, spacing may not always be appropriate at the default settings, and tracking may be necessary for legibility.

Touchpoints & Products The products for Little Explorer will be sold at their store and must represent the brand. Use the brand’s color palette, patterns and illustration to create visually engaging designs geared towards children.

Digital Applications When designing the website and socials for Little Explorer, the designer should utilize Little Explorer’s branded photography, illustrations and color palette. The digital applications should showcase children learning and playing with STEM. For social media, the logo should be placed as the profile photo. The profile photo can alternate between the brand colors for different platforms.

Outdoor Signage

Environmental & Photography The environmental design for Little Explorer is modern and playful. Interior signage is digital touchscreens and can be interacted with.

Exterior The exterior architectural design of Little Explorers is a modern black building with accents of neon lighting around its frame.

Photography Style Little Explorer uses clean imagery that focuses on children and STEM. Photographs can be taken at the center or in the classrooms to create the right setting.
