Iowa Senate Forms New Technology Committee in 2023

The Iowa Senate created a committee focused on technology to address challenges, needs, and impact on the state. Senator Chris Cournoyer chairs the newly formed committee. The technology committee will be instrumental in evaluating and shaping legislation related to technology, cybersecurity, connectivity, telecommunications, and other related policies.

Consumer Data Protection

These bills provide consumers with the right to know what companies have processed of their personal data. The bill would be applicable to Iowa businesses that control/process personal data of over 99,999 consumers or control/process personal data of 25,000 consumers with 50% of their gross revenue obtained from the sale of personal data.
