ON CAMPUS SINCE t962
Phi Gamma Delta was chartered on Auburn's campus in 1%2, when brothers began an organization of men with character and excellence. John Ritsema,04IE, said he pledged Phi Gamma Delta because of "n'e reputation Fiji has in representing the qualities of class, dignity and the commitment to excellence that Auburn holds."
The brothers supported Project Uplift as their philanthropy. TIley helped underprivileged children by taking them places and providingthem with good role models.TI,ese children only wanted someone to spend time with them, and that was exactly what the Phi Gamma Delta brothers did.
A Caveman social with Alpha Delta Pi, a
Hoedown social with Alpha Gamma Delta and a Slip 'n'Slide social with Sigma Kappa kept the Fiji brothers busy throughout the year. Winter quarter brought a Winter formal in NewOrleans, too. However, brothers claimed that their bestsocial of the year was Fiji Island, which occurred during Spring quarter. For this party they built an "island" behind theirhouseand had bands playwhile they danced with their dates.
In order to develop bonding. the brothers of Phi Gamma Delta held a brotherhood retreat at Camp Mac, socials and Biblestudies. These events focused on the diversity among thebrotherswhilestrengtheningtheir tremendous brotherhood.
