The Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta, commonly known as Fiji,continued tostriveforexcellence in upholding the idealsof honor and tradition. The brothers could be seen workingforthecommunity, benefiting the campus or at one of their many exuberant socials
One of the big concerns for the (raternitybrotherswasadedication 10 provide service for the community. Theirmajorserviceprojectwas raising funds for Habitat for Humanity. They accomplished this by sponsoring the Game Day Football Run, an annual event thai required thebrothersto fun a football from Montgomery to Auburn. The brothers collected pledges foreach mile they ran and the moneyraised was donatedto Habitat for Humanity.
Astheyearprogressed, thebrothers enjoyedparticipatinginseveral social
events, such as the Caveman Social, the Hoedown and Burn the House Down to commemorate the burning ofthe fraternity house in 1962. In the spring, they hadthepleasureofhosting theHappy Birthday Hawaii partyand the Fiji Island party -one of the largest socials - which included a catwalk,a trcehoLise and alarge pool for an entire weekend.
In addition to the socials, the Fiji brothers also had an annual winter formal. This year's winter formal was held in New Orleans.
Phi Gamma Delta experienced an excellent year ineveryaspectofGreek life without drifting from its strong beliefs of leadership, dignity. honor and fellowship. Along with this excellence, the members also maintained and achieved their strongest drive: to become perfect gentlemen.
