Wallumbilla Calico Cottage Information Centre

About Situated adjacent to the old grain storage shed in Wallumbilla. The Calico Cottage Tourism Information Centre was commissioned by the Maranoa Regional Council, with joint funding by the state government and Santos. In 2024 Maranoa Regional Council accepted the tender by SM & KA Duff Builders Pty Ltd of $3,686,014.20 and the building construction commenced. The Old Grain Shed as it stands today

Then n 1937, the State Wheat Board accepted a tender from Mr L.H Healy of Toowoomba to construct a new grain shed in Wallumbilla for £1,454 and 10 shillings. The shed was designed to be 160 feet long, with the potential to expand to 200 feet, and had a capacity of approximately 30,000 bags, mirroring the design of the Pirrinuan shed.

Today, the Wallumbilla Grain Shed is recognized as one of the last of its kind, symbolizing the town’s rich agricultural past and its connection to the railway system.
