As Quantock Joinery prepared for retirement, the business needed a trusted partner to handle the complete disposal of its workshop. BPI provided a tailored solution, overseeing everything from cataloguing and marketing to buyer support and collections, and delivered a result that exceeded expectations while making the process straightforward for the vendor.
The auction featured 141 lots of specialist woodworking machinery, tools, and equipment, including an Esseteam Sprint NM 3 Axis CNC Router, Casadei Linea Beam Saw, SCM Compact 22 4-Sided Planer Moulder, SCM M3 Multi Rip Saw, 2014 Griggio Hot Melt Edgebander, Felder FBP 50 Wood Chip Briquetting Press, Wadkin Bursgreen BEL Spindle Moulder, and a Halla HDF20 Diesel Forklift Truck.
With targeted marketing and a carefully structured auction, BPI attracted strong buyer engagement, achieving results well above expectations. In addition to overseeing the sale, BPI arranged a machine mover to ensure efficient logistics and seamless asset collections, reducing disruption for the vendor.
The results spoke for themselves, and the client wasdelighted with both the financial outcome and the smooth process. Reflecting on the experience, Dominic Quinn, Director at Quantock Joinery, said: “We were introduced to BPI when we had previously offered our machinery to numerous woodworking machinery dealers without success. One of the dealers suggested BPI and, after speaking with the team, we made the decision to sell via auction — something we would never have thought of previously but are glad we did. A huge thank you to BPI and in particular Richard and Neil for carrying out a quick and professional job. Our whole workshop was auctioned off and we were pleasantly surprised when the auction results came in. Good job BPI.”
Richard Travis, Industrial Specialist at BPI, added: “This project highlights how important it is to have the right process in place. By presenting the assets clearly and supporting the vendor every step of the way, we delivered an efficient sale and a very positive outcome for Quantock Joinery’s retirement.”

G.J. Wisdom Supporng the Gavel Trail for Brain Tumour Awareness
G.J. Wisdom & Co., a commercial auctioneering firm, is taking part in the Wild in Art Gavel Trail to support three brain tumour charities. The family-run business, which has been operating since 1987, is sponsoring a 100cm gavel sculpture designed by a young, up-andcoming artist, Millie Wicker. The initiative, in collaboration with the Bidpath Foundation, aims to raise funds and awareness for The Brain Tumour Charity, The National Brain Appeal and ICPCN.
Founded by Garry Wisdom and now headed by Shane Wisdom, G.J. Wisdom & Co. provides valuaon and aucon services to a wide range of clients, including HMRC and banks. The company was enthusiasc about the opportunity to parcipate in the Gavel Trail, an event that resonates deeply with the team.
“When we were approached by George Wade at Bidpath, to take part in the Wild in Art Gavel Trail, in collaboraon with the Bidpath Foundaon, we were only too pleased to get involved,” Shane said.
The company’s commitment to the cause is a personal one. The team has seen two friends’ children lose their lives to brain tumours, while another friend’s son, James Crossley, survived his bale. Mr Crossley went on to become the Brish Paracycling Naonal Champion, compeng against the likes of Sir Chris Hoy. He remains an inspiraon, living life to the fullest despite his disabilies.
For their gavel, G.J. Wisdom & Co. chose 17-year-old Millie Wicker, a student from Birmingham studying at a specialist art school. Ms Wicker, who plans to study Fine Art at university, created a vibrant and unique design for the sculpture. The finished gavel is on display at G.J. Wisdom & Co.’s offices from 1 September to 30 October 2025.
G.J. Wisdom & Co. joins other naonal auconeers in this charitable endeavour. Throughout September, the individually designed gavels will be displayed at their respecve premises for The Gavel Trail, with the collecve goal of raising awareness and supporng the Wild in Art and Bidpath Foundaon charies.
“A Lot of Wisdom” Masterpiece
“A Lot of Wisdom,” the striking hand-painted gavel sculpture commissioned by G.J. Wisdom & Co. and created by arst Millie Wicker, bursts with vibrant colour. Painted in bold yellows, reds and blacks, it features whimsical, stencil-style owl and gavel mofs. The base is designed to resemble a brick wall, grounding the piece with an urban, street-art aesthec.
The work combines the formal symbolism of an auconeer’s gavel with a rebellious pop-art twist, making it both humorous and thought-provoking. Its oversized scale and vivid spray-paint finish give it an eye-catching presence, perfect as a statement piece for an office, gallery or creave workspace.
