THE WOLVES Program

Page 1

The Wolves By Sarah DeLappe Directed by Tessa Carr Leadership Team: Ashleigh Avallone, Addison Peacock, Anna Vu Director’s Note While I may be the one writing the director’s note to you, I have to tell you that this production has been a collaborative effort led by myself and three incredible students – Ashleigh Avallone, Addison Peacock, and Anna Vu. Together we created a working rehearsal environment that reflected empowered teamwork. Beyond the management team and cast, this ethic extended into the collaborative efforts of designers, crew, and the staff and faculty supporting the show. The text inspired us. Get ready for the complicated, messy, funny, and passionate world of this group of young women. As we all grapple with the unfathomable in the news each day, we still seek joy and fulfillment amidst the anger and grief in our mundane worlds. The young women of The Wolves are doing the same. We hope you enjoy their triumphs and cheer them through their struggles. Go Wolves! Sincerely, Tessa Carr

Special Thanks Ashleigh Avallone Lindsay Rae Taylor Julie Bennett and Jessamyne Saxon from Auburn University Media Production Group SYNlawn of Alabama Evan Grant with BSN Auburn University Theatre and Dance gratefully acknowledges support for this production from the Office of the Provost of Auburn University. Everyone! Especially if you are a former student of the department; a non-major, friend, or community member who worked on a show; a patron or donor who enjoys a special event; or a friend or colleague of our honorees, please consider attending.

What's Happening? Together we will enjoy special gatherings with friends old and new, and hear about opportunities to support student scholarships and the work of our newly christened Department of Theatre and Dance. Among the events included in this weekend is special production of:

Love Letters by A.R. Gurney Directed by Ashley Butler, Theatre '93 Featuring Daydrie Hague* and Dan LaRocque* Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner are childhood friends whose lifelong correspondence charts the highs, lows, and unpredictable intersections of their lives. Conceived during a time long before the internet and smartphones, Gurney's Pulitzer Prize finalist work employs the lost art of letter writing to examine how the intimacy of pen and paper can transcend both physical and spiritual distance.

Michaela Williams (#00) is a freshman BFA music theatre major from Columbus, GA. This is her first Auburn University Theatre and Dance production. Michaela is also a member of AU Players.

*The actors appear through the courtesy of Actors' Equity Association, the Union of Professional Actors and Stage Managers in the United States. Love Letters is presented by arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

Katie Wolfe (Lighting Designer) is a junior working towards degrees in both theatre design/tech and electrical engineering from Memphis, TN. Her previous design credits at Auburn include Into the Woods (Assistant Lighting Designer), A Doll’s House (Assistant Scenic Designer), Together Apart: A Socially Distanced Collaboration (Sound and Video Designer), and Quad (Undergraduate Research Fellow). When she’s not spending time backstage, Katie can be found researching the uses of theatre technology and wireless communication systems! Photo credits: Jeffrey Etheridge

Who is invited?

Brantley Waller (#13) is a senior BFA theatre performance and visual media double major from Chelsea, AL. She is thrilled for The Wolves to be her final show as a performer here at Auburn University. It’s been her favorite play for over three years, and she can’t think of a better note to end on. Dr. Carr was also the first director to cast her in a show here, and she feels it’s both fitting and full circle that she’s also the last. Brantley is very thankful for her last five years here and hopes you enjoy the show.
