This academic year marks the 108th season of theatre and dance at Auburn University. Our theme for this season — “Glimmers in the Dark: Tales of Grit and Grace” — celebrates the return of live performance while also honoring the many challenges of the past year. Even in the midst of such great uncertainty, Auburn University Theatre and Dance labored to facilitate meaningful experiences for our students and patrons. After semesters of pivoting, we look forward to plays,

pirouettes, and people returning to our spaces. Yet we also make space for the profound losses faced by so many. As we enter a new season, we remain committed to and focused on our students’ work each and every day. The past year confirmed our strong belief that our students, staff, and faculty are some of the hardest working on campus.

This academic year also marks my fifth year as chairperson of the Department of Theatre and Dance. I greatly value your patronage of our theatre and your continued support of our students and our work. Over the next year, I look forward to welcoming you all back into our spaces, to engage in conversation, and to build community. I am excited by the continued growth of our artistic community over my time here in Auburn, and you all are a vital part of that. On behalf of the entire faculty, staff, and students of Auburn University Theatre and Dance, I hope you will join us as subscribers this year and share in our efforts to celebrate the return of live performance and honor our students’ work. If you’ve subscribed in the past, please consider renewing; if you’re new, we would love the opportunity to introduce you to our incredibly talented students and compelling shows. Come join us at the theatre!

Chase Bringardner, PhD Auburn University Theatre and Dance Chair
