PARK & LAKE REMINDERS General All residents (ages 12+) must bring their membership card each time they wish to access the facility.

No child under 12 is permitted in the park/facility without adult supervision.

No animals of any type are permitted in the park.

No glass, smoking, vaping, or alcohol is permitted in the park.

No bicycles, scooters, rollerblades, skateboards, etc. are permitted in the park.

Open fires are not permitted. Only charcoal briquettes may be used in the barbeques.

Residents and guests must not use foul language in the park.

Rambunctious/unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated.

Guests Residents assume full responsibility for their guest' actions.

Residents must be present at all times while their guests use the facility.

Adult residents may bring up to five (5) guests per household.

Youth residents (aged 12-15) may bring up to two (2) guests per household (with signed parental consent). All guests must be signed in before entering the facility.

For more than five (5) guests, a Gate +8 List must be submitted to Auburn House at least 28 hours prior to your event for approval. These lists are accepted on a first come, first served basis. The ABRA accepts a maximum of 10 Gate +8 lists Mon-Thurs, and 5 Gate +8 Lists Fri-Sun (and all stat/civic holidays).

Park Guest Lists (up to 25 people) are only available with Picnic Shelter bookings.

The ABRA has the right to decline any large group.

The maximum number of guests with a Gate +8 list is 8 (including children and mobile infants) Gate +8 lists are available on AuburnBayRA.ca and at Auburn House.

GYMNASIUM RULES All users must check in at the main office before entering the gymnasium.

All users must act in a safe and responsible manner.

Profanity and/or abusive language is not permitted.

Shoes with non-marking soles only. No socked feet, bare feet, flip flops, or sandals.

Indoor shoes only. Remove outdoor shoes before entering the gymnasium.

Shirts must be worn at all times.

No food or drink (except bottled water).

Bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, etc. are prohibited.

Soccer and lacrosse are not permitted in the gymnasium.

No outdoor hockey sticks or pucks are permitted.

No gym equipment is permitted on the mezzanine.

You may need to sign out equipment from the office using your membership card.

Please respect designated drop-in times Gym use is not supervised - use at your own risk.

ABRA staff will evict any user displaying unacceptable behaviour of any kind.

Share the courts! Please honour a 30-minute rotation time during badminton and pickleball drop-ins.

SAFE SPACE INITIATIVE & ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY Safe Space Initiative The ABRA Safe space initiative is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment, while recognizing the diversity if our residents, guests, staff and community. Through ongoing education, awareness, and outreach, this initiative aims to build a framework for recognizing the rights of all individuals to mutual respect and acceptance of others, regardless of differences, and without biases. Our policies and conduct are signed to hold our residents, patrons and staff accountable to the values of this initiative.

This initiative is focused on fostering an inclusive safe space that promotes a sense of belonging in the community where individuals feel represented and dignified.

Zero Tolerance Policy Please be aware that the Auburn Bay Residents Association has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination towards ABRA staff, contractors and other patrons due to their race, religious beliefs, colour, gender, gender identity, gender expression, physical disability, mental disability, age, ancestry, place of origin marital status, source of income, family stats, or sexual orientation of that person or that class of person. Individuals who partake in discriminatory behaviour are subject to disciplinary action as per the recommendation of the ABRA Board of Directors Disciplinary Committee.

DROP-INS Family & Youth Gym Drop-Ins Open Gym (Non-Netted): Basketball, floor hockey, dodgeball... open gym is an all-ages opportunity for family and youth to use the gym for sports!

Split Gym (Half Netted, Half Non-Netted): Half the gym accommodates non-netted sports and have accommodates pickleball or badminton Volleyball Drop-in: Challenge your neighbours to a friendly game of volleyball!

Pickleball & Badminton Drop-ins: Already love badminton? Come hit some birdies and then try popular up-andcoming racquet sport, Pickleball.

Youth Sports Night: Each week will feature either Badminton, Basketball or Volleyball. For youth aged 12 to 17 only.

Parent & Tot Drop-in Come down to Auburn House to enjoy gymnasium drop-in for parents and toddlers, aged 0 to 4. There will be a selection of toys and equipment available for you and your little ones to enjoy! Children must be under parental supervision at all times.

Senior’s Social Drop-In (55+) Join Auburn House for our Seniors Social Drop-in to enjoy free coffee, play cards, cribbage, and other board games, and make new friends in the community! This drop-in program runs the following Wednesdays from 11:00am to 1:00pm September 18 October 2 & 16 November 6 & 20 December 4 & 18 Regular guest rules apply. There is a $2.00 charge for any guests that attend.

Family & Youth Board Game Night Join us at Auburn House for this FREE drop-in! We will have a selection of board games available, or you can bring your own! This drop-in program runs the following Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30pm September 16 October 7 November 18 December 9 Regular guest rules apply. There is a $2.00 charge for any guests that attend.

POLICIES Membership Cards: No Card? No Access!

All residents (ages 12+) MUST have their membership card to access any of the Auburn House facilities, including the Gymnasium.

Need to get a membership card?

Bring a copy of your Certificate of Title, as well as government-issued photo I.D. with the Auburn Bay address on it to Auburn Hosue to receive your permanent membership card. For children without appropriate I.D., please bring their Birth Certificate. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Program Cancellation & Withdrawal The ABRA reserves the right to cancel any programs with insufficient registration. Full refunds will be granted, or you may transfer to another program (space permitting).

Requests to withdraw from a program: Seven (7) or more days prior to the first day of the program will be granted a refund with no penalty.* Less than seven (7) days prior to the first day of the program will be granted a 50% refund.* On the program start date to within 48 hours after the first class will be granted a 25% refund (not applicable to one-day programs - no refunds will be granted within 48 hours before the start date of the program).

Refunds will be issued for medical reasons and will be prorated at the time of the withdrawal request. A doctor's note must be presented. Refunds will not be issued for participants who are unable to attend make-up classes.

*Refunds are issued by account credit. Credits are valid for one year from the issue date.

Alternative refunds (e.g., direct deposit) are subject to a $15 Administration Fee.

EVENTS End of Summer Fireworks Spectacular Saturday, September 7, 2024 Fun starts @ 6:30pm | Fireworks @ approx. 9pm (after sunset) Experience the magic of summer's twilight at the End of Summer Fireworks Spectacular, set against the backdrop of the serene waters of Auburn Bay Lake. Before the main event, enjoy bouncy houses and roving entertainment while indulging in treats from the Calgary Mini Donut food truck and Red Mountain Kettle Korn. As night falls, sip on a warm cup of VHF Coffee while watching in awe as the sky ignites with a dazzling display of fireworks.

Whether on the shore or under the stars, it's the perfect finale to a season of shared memories and moments.

Haunted House: Crypt of Creatures Thursday, October 31, 2024 6:00pm - 8:30pm Enter if you dare into the Crypt of Creatures, where twisted experiments and ancient horrors have unleashed a horde of terrors. Wander through darkened halls and eerie chambers, where every corner hides a lurking menace. Face the undead, monstrous creations, and bloodthirsty beings as you journey through the lair of classic nightmares. Beware, for once you enter, there may be no escape from the creatures that haunt this crypt. Are you brave enough to confront your darkest fears?

This class will focus on core and lower body toning through a series of standing and seated postures designed to improve balance, strength, and flexibility. Each class will end with relaxation. A variety of modifications will be demonstrated to make this class suitable for all levels.

Join popular Yoga instructor, Teresa, for Yoga Flow! This Yoga Flow class blends together poses with the breath to create a flexibility and a sense of calmness. This class offers a nice balance of flowing movements between postures, holding poses to build strength and stamina, as well as stretching and lengthening your muscles through standing, balancing, and seated postures. This class is suitable for all levels. Modifications and adjustments will be offered.

Beginner’s Pickleball (18+) RR: $200 NR: $225 S1: Thurs., September 12 to October 3, 2024 (4 classes) S2: Thurs., October 10 to November 3, 2024 (excl. Participants will learn sound pickleball fundamentals and techniques while having fun at the same time! After completing the program, participants will have a solid foundation to continue their pickleball journey with a strong base. The student-to-instructor ratio will be 4:1 to focus on each participant properly.

ADULT PROGRAMS Box & Burn (16+) RR: $90 | NR: $115 Weds., September 11 to October 16, 2024 (6 classes) 7:45 to 8:45pm

Kick, punch, bob, and weave your way into a high energy fitness class. This Kickbox class will keep you constantly moving and burning for most of the 60 minutes. Time will be set aside at the end of class for core and stretch. No experience necessary, options will be given for all fitness levels.

Total Body Tone (16+) RR: $90 | NR: $115 Weds., November 6 to December 11, 2024 (6 classes) 7:45 to 8:45pm

This class is composed of strength moves and a core/abdominal workout. Starting with a warm up, we will then move to strength moves for all the major muscles groups. Next we will work to build a strong core and abdominals. And finally, a relaxing cool down.

Different props will be used each week and may include: free weights, body bars, kettlebells, and bands. No experience required, all levels are welcome as there will be options given for exercises.

Prince Basketball will encourage your child to develop a love for basketball as they learn the sport's fundamentals. Every fun game and drill will expand participants skills, or establish new skills, while building self-esteem. Participants will improve their ball handling, shooting, passing, rebounding, one-on-one, and team player skills.

“Progressive Tennis” introduces the sport of tennis in a fun and interactive way and ensures immediate success for young players aged 5-7. Using modified tennis balls, racquets, nets and courts, young players are properly equipped to enjoy rallies and learn the fundamentals of the game early on.

This session is applicable for both previous students (5-7 years old class) and first timers. It combines re-enforced stroke mechanics with various entertaining and engaging game formats.

YOUTH PROGRAMS Early Start Badminton (Ages 9 to 14) RR: $130 | NR: $155 Sat., September 14 to November 2, 2024 (excl. Oct. 12) (8 classes) 5:10 to 6:10 p.m.

Players will learn the fundamentals of badminton, but with a focus on techniques and footwork. Four areas of focus are racket grip, posture, racket swing and footwork. Each session will consist of 1 of the 4 areas of focus while engaging in light to moderate cardio exercises. Players will be challenged to bring the best out of themselves. This will be very beneficial for players who are looking to join the school badminton team or further advance themselves for those who are already on a team.

Our instructor, Coach Ly, started his badminton journey in junior high, and went on to play for the Mount Royal College Cougars. He has won multiple city championships and also competed in the Alberta badminton series.

He owes much of his success to his coaches and mentors, and now wants to pay it forward.

Rising Superstars Badminton (Ages 12 to 17) RR: $130 | NR: $155 Sat., September 14 to November 2, 2024 (excl. Oct. 12) (8 classes) 6:20 to 7:20 p.m.

This program is the next step up from the "Early Start" badminton class.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PROGRAM IS NOT FOR BEGINNER'S BADMINTON PLAYERS. It is only recommended for those who have been taught basic badminton fundamentals.

Players will refocus and strengthen their basic fundamental skills but with new skills learn such as SMASH, DROPS, DRIVE, FOOTWORK, BACK-HAND, and GAME TACTICS Player's will be challenged and bring the best out of them with moderate to high Cardio drills. This will really benefit player's who are looking to join and compete on a school team or further themselves in badminton training.

YOUTH PROGRAMS Youth Intro to Pickleball (Ages 8 to 12) RR: $350 | NR: $375 Thurs., September 12 to December 5, 2024 (excl. Oct. 31) (12 classes) 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Join us for an exciting 12-week Pickleball program designed specifically for children aged 8-12 years!

Elevate your child's pickleball skills each week through interactive drills and games. Emphasis will be placed on correct technique, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth, ensuring that every child has a positive and enjoyable experience.

Equipment: Paddles are available for free rental during lessons and can also be purchased on-site!

The program will be run by IPTPA-certified pickleball instructors Clara & Sumit of PicklePerfect Coaching.

Ball Hockey (Ages 5 to 12) RR: $125| NR: $150 S1: Sun., September 8 to October 20, 2024 (excl. Oct. 13) (6 classes) S2: Sun., November 3 to December 8, 2024 (6 classes) Ages 5 to 7: 10:00 to 10:50am Ages 8 to 12: 11:00 to 11:50am In Ball Hockey, players will learn hockey skills and sportsmanship while burning off energy. Please bring proper indoor running shoes and a water bottle. Floor hockey sticks will be provided. Ice hockey sticks and pucks are not permitted in the gymnasium.

At the Auburn Bay Residents Association (ABRA) we want children and youth from all walks of like to be able to enjoy our sports programs. Both KidSport and Jumpstart offer grants to low-income families to help cover sports registration fees for youth under 18 years of age. PARENTED PROGRAMS Kreative Kids: Storytime (ages 2 to 5*) *Younger siblings also welcome Join ABRA staff for this FREE program where young children will enjoy having new stories read to them each week and a craft.

SPECIALTY PROGRAMS Parent’s Night Out (Ages 3+) RR: $20 | NR: $25 Do you need a night out (or in!) without kids? Well you're in luck! The ABRA is now offering this childcare program so you can enjoy some quality time with your partner or your friends! ABRA is offering this service the following Friday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.: September 13 & 27 October 18 November 8 & 22 December 13 *All children must be fully potty trained to attend* ABRA staff will have a selection of games and activities to keep your little one(s) busy! We will also have a nut-free snack and drink available, however please feel free to pack any additional nut-free snacks and/or drinks for your children if they need more.

Babysitter’s Course (Ages 10.5+) RR: $75 | NR: $100 Saturday, October 19, 2024 (1 class) 9:15am to 3:15pm Babysitting is not a job, it is a responsibility. The sitter is responsible for the life/lives of human beings in their care. There is much to learn about caring of children. If an emergency should occur would you know what to do?

Would you know who to call? Would you know how to give first aid? All of these instances requires professional training and without it you should not be taking care of someone else's children. The liability is much too large.

Sitters should be properly trained and certified.

Each graduating babysitter will receive a Canada Safety Council Manual and 2 certificates.

Home Alone (Ages 9.5+) RR: $60 | NR: $75 Sunday, October 20, 2024 (1 class) 9:15am to 12:15pm The Home Alone Program is designed to provide children 9/10 yrs of age and older with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when alone for short periods of time. It will help them understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations, and keep them safe and constructively occupied. *Siblings ages 7-8 may register and complete the course for a completion certificate. SPECIALTY PROGRAMS Pumpkin Needle Felting Workshop (Ages 7 to 14) RR: $65 | NR: $70 Tuesday, September 24, 2024 (1 class) 6:00 to 8:00pm Give your child the chance to explore their creativity with our engaging 2-hour needle felting workshop! This class is perfect for children of all abilities. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, your child will learn about needle felting techniques and create a charming pumpkin. If time permits, participants can also make some adorable acorns.

All necessary supplies will be provided during the class, and each participant will take home their supplies and enough wool to make an additional pumpkin at home. This class is open to children of all abilities, whether they’re new to felting or have some experience.

Under the guidance of a skilled instructor, your child will create their very own needle felted monster, perfect for Halloween! If time allows, they can also try making some eerie little accessories to accompany their monster.

All supplies will be provided as a part of the class, and each participant will take home their supplies and enough wool to make an additional monster at home. This class is open to children of all abilities. Under the guidance of a skilled instructor, they will create their very own poppy pin, perfect for wearing for Remembrance Day or for gifting to a friend.

All supplies will be provided as a part of this class, and each participant will take home their supplies and enough wool to make an additional an additional poppy pin at home. As a special note, a portion of the proceeds from this course will be donated to the Royal Canadian Legion by the instructor.

Winter Gnome Needle Felting Workshop (Ages 7 to 14) RR: $65 | NR: $70 Tuesday, November 26, 2024 (1 class) 6:00 to 8:00pm Celebrate the holiday season with our delightful 2-hour needle felting workshop where your child will learn how to create charming Christmas gnomes! This class welcomes children of all abilities, whether they’re new to felting or have some experience.

Guided by an experienced instructor, your child will craft your very own festive gnome, ideal for holiday decorating or gifting. If time permits, they can also try making some additional accessories to complement their gnome.

Fostering Respectful Dialogue & Healthy Relationship (Parent Workshop) RR: $50 | NR: $60* Saturday, October 12, 2024 (1 class) 1:00 to 3:00pm This informative and interactive workshop will allow the participants to look inward and self-reflect, while having the opportunity to share stories and listen to examples of the various types of conversations that we are experiencing and types of comments we are overhearing. It can be challenging to know how to respond and/or engage when we overhear comments or statements whether it be in or outside of our homes. Dialogue with our children through various stages of their lives can present questions and/or concerns. Participants will gain a broader level of understanding of the characteristics and signs while exploring strategies around fostering healthy relationships This session will explore some of the current trends and issues being faced including (bias and assumptions, social media and boundaries) This workshop will leave the participants feeling more confident and empowered to engage in difficult conversations as well as be more equipped with skills/tools to foster respectful dialogue. *For couples who register together, the 2nd registration will be offered at a 50% discount

SPECIALTY PROGRAMS Building Empathy & Nurturing Healthy Friendships (Ages 5 to 7) RR: $40 | NR: $50 Saturday, October 12, 2024 (1 class) 9:30 to 11:00am In this workshop, children will have the opportunity to learn and discuss what it means to show empathy as well as explore ways to establish and maintain healthy friendships. Through a variety of interactive, informative and fun-filled activities they will also build new skills and abilities to address bullying in their schools and/or community. This workshop will not only build character but will leave your child feeling more confident to deal with potential issues with their peers. The Bully & the Bystander (Ages 8 to 11) RR: $40 | NR: $50 Saturday, October 12, 2024 11:00am to 1:00pm This workshop is designed to build confidence and equip the children with a variety of tools to respond to bullies and/or potentially unsafe situations.

We will also take a look at the importance of taking responsibility for our actions. This course will include a variety of interactive activities as well as scenarios to help to empower the participants in the event of an encounter with a bully or someone they feel is mistreating them. We will also discuss the risks involved with being a bystander and the roles and responsibilities that each of us hold to foster a healthy and safe community. Please bring a small snack (no nut products) and a water bottle.

SPECIALTY PROGRAMS Creative Faces with Air Dry Clay (ages 9 to 12) RR: $115 | NR: $125 Tues., & Thurs., September 24 & 26, 2024 (2 classes) 6:00 to 8:00pm Join us for a fun and creative class where students will explore the world of air dry clay!

Introduction to air dry clay: get familiar with the medium!

Creating whimisical faces: Learn the basics of human and animal anatomy to create an anthropomorphic characther - a blend of huma and animal features.

Proportions and creativity: Understand facial proportions and learn to creatively “bend” them to craft unique, whimsical faces with exaggerated features.

Adding colour and life: bring your clay creations to life wiht colour.

Color mixing basics: Learn about the colour wheel along with primary, secondary and complementary colours.

Creative colour application: Gain tips and techniques for mixing colours, avoiding “mud”, and correcting mistakes to finish your unique clay faces!

All materials will be provided. By the end of the class, the students will have a fun and whimiscal face character, completed with vibrant colours, and a wealth of new artisitic skills!

Red Flower Embroidery Class (Ages 16+) RR: $110 | NR: $120 Tues., & Thurs., October 8 & 10, 2024 (2 classes) 6:00 to 8:00pm This class offers a creative and therapeutic experience, perfect for developing artistic skills and creating memorable gifts or fiber artworks for display.

Class 1 Introduction to embroidery basics: get familiar with the fundamentals of embroidery. Learn about differences between traditional embroidery and contemporary.

Basic stitches practice: learn and practice basic embroidery stitches.

Red flower design: use a provided parttern to create a beautiful red flower design.

Class 2 Working with beads and embellishments: discover what makes embroidery “creative” and learn how to add life to a basic design.

Personalized designs: explore and express your creativity by designing unique and personalized embroidered pieces.

Meditative benefits: Enjoy the meditative aspects of embroidery, promiting relaxation, redunce stress and enhancing focus.
