number of Japanese feature films of popular anime will be released in 2012, including a movie based on blockbuster TV anime series, “Puella Magi Madoka Magika,” and the third part of the Evangelion series, “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.”

Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

He also received several domestic movie awards including the Best Animated Picture award at the 33rd Japan Academy Awards for his 2009 movie, “Summer Wars.” This film was invited to the Berlin International Film Festival and then released in the U.S. the following year and has received worldwide attention. 3 The “sacred” place from “K-On!,” a 2011 blockbuster movie, is Toyosato Elementary School in Toyosato Town in Inukami District, Shiga Prefecture. The group of old school buildings, now used as a social education and welfare facility, was the model for the Sakuragaoka Girl’s High School in the drama. The All Japan High School Karuta Tournament is held in July every year and the Meijin and Queen Title Match to decide Japan’s Karuta champion is held in January every year.

Hokuei Town in Tottori Prefecture is the home of Gosho Aoyama, the creator of popular comic series “Master Detective Conan.” The Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory, a museum of his works, is in the town as well as Conan Street with bronze statues of the amine characters. Tokyo International Anime Fair 2012 The Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) is one of the largest comprehensive international events in the world, started in 2002. The fair is organized by three general components: “Trade Fair,” in which the latest information relating to anime is on display; “Competition,” in which outstanding anime works are selected and awarded; and “Events,” including symposiums, events on the stage and special exhibitions for visitors.

Promotions to anime business persons will be held on business days. On days open to the public, various events with anime theme song singers, voice actors and costumed performers are scheduled. 動畫內容博覽會2012 (Anime Contents Expo 2012) 透過舞台表演、展示、商品販售等，目的是希望能讓卡 通動畫粉絲們能盡情享樂於卡通動畫及相關內容的最 前線而舉辦的。原本預定於去年舉行的第一屆活動受 到震災的影響而取消，今年是第一次舉辦該活動。「參 展區」中有話題沸騰的新作品的初露面資訊及最新影 像、分發各式各樣的免費促銷傳宣品等。還販賣了會場 限定的特別商品及一般商品等各種商品應有盡有。在 「舞台表演活動」中將進行事先招募的33項舞台表演節 目。「餐飲／休息區」中則準備了各種與作品結合的菜 餚。在會場中能品嚐到淵源於人氣作品的美味料理。

The Anime Contents Expo (ACE) is an event where fans can get the latest anime-related information through stage performances, exhibitions and goods sales. Because the first version of this event scheduled to be held last year was canceled due to the March 11 disaster, this is the first ACE event. Information about new works is announced for the first time and the latest images of these works are screened at “Fair Area.” A variety of promotion materials are also available for free and many goods are sold. At “Event Stage,” 33 stage events are held and those who applied and get an entry “right” by drawing can participate in each event. At “Eating/Tea Break Area,” a menu collaborated with anime works and dishes related to popular works are served.

The Ghibli Museum was designed by animation director Hayao Miyazaki. His beloved masterpieces include “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea,” which was the biggest Japanese hit in 2008. A permanent exhibition called“Where a Film is Born” showcases the film production process in five different rooms. Children can also touch and ride the Cat Bus that appears in the film “My Neighbor Totoro.” (Note: The Cat Bus is for children age 12 and under only.)

Original short films are screened in the museum’s Saturn Theater and the giant Robot Soldier from “Castle in the Sky” stands guard in the rooftop garden. Ghibli Museum’s motto is “Let’s get lost, together.” As if stepping inside the world of a Ghibli movie, adults will feel like a kid again in this fun-filled museum.

Kawasaki City Fujiko·F·Fujio Museum This museum opened in September 2011 and exhibits original pictures and related-materials of Fujiko·F·Fujio, a cartoonist who created famous works such as “Doraemon,” “Perman,” and “Kiteretsu Daihyakka.” The desk he used and a lot of his books and materials are on display at “Fujiko·F·Fujio’s Study.” At “F Theater,” short movies, which can be seen only there, are screened. Visitors can read comics freely at a manga corner and meet familiar comic characters at “Field.” A café offers dishes related to his works and original goods are sold at a shop.

I became obsessed with Japanese anime when I first saw "Hikaru no Go." I was a high school student then and I always liked drawing, so I began to dream of learning anime production in Japan. I came to Japan and entered the Animated Image Department of this school. My dream is to work as an animator for the animation production company Sunrise, which creates my most favorite anime, "Tiger & Bunny."

I really enjoy the practical aspect of the assignments. Students sometimes have a chance in class to talk to professional anime creators about the practicalities of anime production, and I learn a lot from talking to them. I was really excited when I met the animation director for "Evangelion," whom I really admire.

Japanese anime is filled with fresh images and attractive characters. I recommend that international students who are striving to be professional anime creators watch a wide range of anime works. When I was in high school, I was very surprised to learn that a female voice actor does a male character, Kurama, in the Japanese anime "Yuyu Hakusho." I became interested in Japanese anime and voice actors and began dreaming about becoming a voice actor. I wanted to study in Japan, the home of anime, so I decided to come to Japan and enroll in the Broadcasting Voice Actor Department.

The school curriculum includes various classes including dance, play, and theatrical combat. as part of an assignment in my freshman year, I was really excited about acting in front of an audience. Since then, I have become fascinated by acting so I chose a theatrical performance seminar for my sophomore year. Now, I want to not only do voice acting but also theatrical performance, dancing, and much more! I am really glad that I came to Japan to study. My classmates are also energetic and their eyes shine with life as they pursue their dreams. If you have something you really want to do, you should try everything to make your dream come true.

I may work as a model in Korea after graduation but I am planning to come back to Japan.

1학년 수업 과제로 무대에 섰을 때는 손님들과 같은 공간안에서 연기를 하고있다는 것에 너무 흥분되었습니 다. 그 이후로 연기 자체를 좋아하게 되었고, 2학년 때 는 무대연기과를 선택했습니다. 성우뿐만 아니라, 연극 이나 댄스 등 하고 싶은 것이 많아졌어요. 학교에는 댄스, 외국어, 액션연기 등 스킬업을 위한 다양한 선택수업이 있기 때문에 적극적으로 참여했습 니다. 학교친구들과 선후배들도 모두 꿈을 가지고 있어 서 그런지 눈빛이 반짝반짝거려요. 정말로 하고 싶은 일 이 있다면 후회하기 전에, 더 나이들기 전에 한 번 도전 해 보세요. 졸업한 후에는 한국에서 모델 일을 하게 될지도 모 르지만 다시 일본으로 돌아올 계획입니다. 아르바이트 를 하면서 오디션에 참가하거나 더 많은 경험을 쌓아 자 신의 가능성을 시험해 보고 싶습니다.
