We are pleased to announce the launch of the first HDBaseT™3 matrix product to the market
Using HDBaseT™3 technology, these powerful HDBaseT™ matrix support uncompromised 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 resolutions over distances up to 100m over a CAT6A. The new HMX88-18G and HMX44-18G come into their own with advanced audio features specifically designed for maximising the integration of AV sources in the modern home. Enhanced audio routing is achieved through the integrated audio matrix. This enables the audio from displays (via HDMI ARC or Optical S/PDIF), and all other sources to be embedded and routed through the system at the users discretion. The inclusion of a 1Gb Ethernet channel allows for LAN serving to all HDBT outputs / zones as required, IR and RS-232 pass-through, advanced EDID management, and PoC provide the ultimate flexibility.
The combination of these technology features enable our installation partners the ability to create a truly immersive AV experience throughout the home.

HDA LAUNCHES UCONTROL SPECIALIST TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR INTEGRATORS
HDANYWHERE (HDA) has officially opened registration for its autumn sessions of the uControl Specialist Training Programme, a oneday, hands-on course purpose-built to help AV professionals grow their business with faster, more efficient installations.
Created with the AV business owner in mind, HDANYWHERE says this training goes far beyond technical know-how, aiming to equip integrators with a commercial toolkit that enables them to complete fast-turnaround projects without compromising on user experience, or profitability.
“uControl is built for modern installations where time is tight and expectations are high,” said Justin Fothergill, Head of Training at HDA. “This training shows integrators how to deliver exceptional, scalable systems that make business sense.”
With real-world insights and practical strategies, the uControl Specialist Training teaches integrators how to:
• Specify and sell uControl systems that meet modern client expectations.
• Overcome objections and confidently position the solution.
• Deploy uControl in under a day with streamlined setup.
• Integrate with systems such as MHUB, Sonos, Shelly and Rithum.
• Build a repeatable and profitable mid-market install model.
Ideal for both residential and light commercial projects, uControl is designed to enable integrators to complete more projects with fewer hours on site, protecting margins in a labour-intensive industry.
Every new Specialist leaves with everything needed to start delivering results straight away:
• A brand-new uControl Remote, ready to deploy.
• A certification listing on uControl.world and HDA.systems.
• Access to plug-and-play marketing content.
• Ongoing UK-based sales and technical support.
HDA is running three training events this autumn:
• September 30, 2025 – Rako, Rochester, Kent.
• October 2, 2025 – CEDIA UK, St Neots, Cambridgeshire.
• October 7, 2025 – HDA, Malvern, Worcestershire.

MAKING BUILDINGS BETTER FOR OVER 100 YEARS
EI recently made an exclusive trip to the impressive HQ of Niko. Check out part two of this journey inside the workings of one of Europe’s most pioneering smart home manufacturers.
With its company HQ and factory located in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium and further offices in Antwerp, the company carries out its extensive production, research and development, sales and customer services operations, so there was much for EI to learn. Niko has a long history in the electrical and smart home worlds with a footprint covering its home country of Belgium, Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. With over 700 employees creating and supporting more than 5,000 products for residential and professional settings, Niko has an impressive range of solutions for installers, including attractive control points, switches and sensors all linked to the maker’s Niko Home Control platform. Niko has big plans for the future including growing its presence in the UK and attendance at EI Live! 2025. In part two of this series we delve further into the product concepts and design approaches that make the company unique.
Peter Vehent, Head of Product Marketing Residential and Eric De Clercq, Sales and Marketing Manager, sat down with EI to provide an insight into how Niko actually designs and creates the products that meet the needs of the modern smart home market.
Peter begins, “We know that integrators face a lot of problems such as project complexity and high expectations of the market. We listen to those guys to find out what their problems are and what they need. So, then we bring that back to the internal team here and we try to find solutions that fit those needs.
“We have creativity sessions to define new solutions, some crazy stuff, some more basic and then start the process to build towards creating a prototype. We evaluate in a regular and repetitive way, getting more feedback along the way to improve things still further until the product becomes more mature and is ready for the next phase. This is how we evaluate and evolve products to get them finally to a detailed design together with the whole design team, the UX team and then finally we get to production.”
Learning what the market wants is repeatedly underlined as very important to Niko.
Peter explains, “We try to make it exciting and have some fun with it. We call it co-development, we sometimes invite customers over here to have discussions with us. And then we start experimenting with ideas using our whiteboards and other planning tools, as well as getting creative feedback from dealers.
“In the end our credo is that we want to make things simple. Which means there is probably a basic problem somewhere that needs fixing and we try to find the most simple solution to fix that problem because complexity is everywhere. In everyday life there are a lot of interactions with things like smartphones. We want to avoid this and we know our customers, both the professional and the end customer, are not in favour of having complexity, so we aim to create simple, elegant solutions.”
Eric adds, “Ultimately, it’s about decluttering life and providing peace of mind. A smart home does not need to be present that much, the system should just be there for people when it is needed and when it is useful.”
Peter continues, “There are some people who are technology lovers. They really like to have fancy stuff on the wall and lots of things flickering around, but the majority don’t want this, but still they want to have comfort. Feeling safe at home and having a reduced energy bill for instance, are daily needs. So we really try to deliver on the core needs of the homeowner.”
Peter Vehent (right), Head of Product Marketing Residential and Eric De Clercq, Sales & Marketing Manager, speak with EI Editor Daniel J Sait
Energy efficiency is of course a big issue in the market and will only grow in importance, which is something Niko recognises.
Peter reveals, “We know from being a Belgian company that the energy market is a big thing. The energy providers have a lot of issues to deal with, but on the other side they burden people with increasingly high energy bills. So, people feel discomfort thinking they are going to have to pay too much, so we need a solution. “We actually knew this from the beginning of smart home control, so we embedded energy measurement and monitoring into the systems. In fact, we can call what our system does energy management in that it automates and optimises the use of energy and creates the highest level of self-consumption and efficiency, if you have solar panels, for instance.”
Eric underlines that these goals should be delivered without compromise on performance, “People don’t want to lose comfort, they don’t want to achieve better energy consumption simply by turning down the heating by five degrees because of the energy bill. They want a system that works together with them on how to balance energy production and that’s exactly what Niko Home Control does.”
The importance of this area is only going to grow, which is something that Niko is planning for.
Peter insists, “This is not going to go away. The evolution in energy will continue with batteries, solar, EV charging and other systems becoming a big part of our lives more and more, so we will follow this trend and try to deliver the solutions.”
KEY PRODUCTS AND SOLUTIONS
The team were also keen to talk about what they feel key products and deliverables are from the Niko range right now.
Peter emphasises, “Next to technical stuff like energy management, we are a company that focuses on premium interfaces because we believe that the end user in their home should be very much at ease. It should be very simple to switch on the light, to lower the blinds, or to do whatever you want without very fancy, complicated interfaces.
“So one of the latest new developments is our Niko Toggle and Rocker for Niko Home Control variant. Already available to the market in a 230V variant since 2024, this is an authentic vintage switch, now with integrated Niko Home Control as a direct interface. The difference between this switch and the first classic switches is that this new one has a more subtle and tactile feeling. It does not have a long travel and hard click, instead it is really simple and has more refined tactile feedback. On top of that, we have integrated a temperature and humidity sensor with a lot of flexibility directly into the switch, so you can create heating, cooling or ventilation control with the same sophisticated look and feel.”
Eric underlines, “This is a nice link to our legacy of design as a company. The switch in fact references a switch we made in 1958. So almost 70 years ago we developed a switch that has been around in a lot of houses, but now we have a nice contemporary product that is smart.”
Being able to call on this type of classic design is very important to Niko.
Niko Toggle will be on show at EI Live! 2025
Ensuring the company’s switches and interfaces offer elegant design and ease of use is a priority
Eric continues, “It is a special aspect of the company because you don’t change your switch on the wall that many times. It’s not like drinking Coca-Cola every week. It is a once or twice in a lifetime decision for homeowners when they install these products. So, it’s up to us as a supplier to think about timeless design and to bring to market products that genuinely last a lifetime.”
UK MARKET DEVELOPMENT AND EI LIVE! 2025
Niko’s ambition is to continue to develop its brand presence in the UK, as Peter explains, “Internationally, we want to focus on the more premium high-end market because we clearly see that there will be an opportunity for integrators having a very simple and flexible infrastructure that is capable of integrating with all kinds of verticals.
“So, reaching out to different disciplines such as smart home, AV or HVAC-focused installers, who will be able to combine all these things to one smart home – created and controlled over one interface – we feel will be attractive. This is the way we want to develop in the UK market. Within a few years we aim to be an established brand delivering on our core values.”
Shortly installers will have the opportunity to interact with Niko at EI Live! 2025, so what can visitors expect?
Peter enthuses, “Well, we’re very excited to be there for the first time. We want to bring our whole story, starting from, who is Niko? We have been in existence since 1919, so we are a very well established brand. We know what switches and sockets are, we know what home automation is since we have been operating in that market since 1997. So, we are going to bring a portfolio that explains who Niko is as well as what our current solutions are. We will
also explain which partners we integrate with and what solutions we can bring to deliver a high level of comfort, safety and energy efficiency. We will put emphasis on our energy efficiency capabilities and the premium interfaces including Niko Toggle and Rocker. We are also going to have a live demo on how to configure and how to program Niko. So we are going to show and have live interactions with the visitors just as we do at company HQ.”
Niko can be found on Stand 65. Organisers also recently announced the exciting news that Niko is the lead sponsor for the Smart Building Awards this year. Niko staff will be on hand during the Smart Building Awards as well as at EI Live!. Visitors to the show and those attending the awards will be able to interact with Niko staff and learn more about the brand.

PEDAL POWER: THE AV INDUSTRY TAKES ON LONDON TO BRIGHTON FOR TOGETHER FOR CINEMA
In September, the AV industry will once again demonstrate its incredible community spirit by tackling the iconic London to Brighton bike ride.
This year, over 50 dedicated riders and two intrepid runners will embark on the challenging 55-mile journey from Clapham Common to the Brighton seafront, all in aid of Together For Cinema.
Over the past few months, the participants have been putting in the miles, with countless hours spent in training. From early morning spins before the workday begins to squeezing in long rides during ‘well-earned family holidays,’ the commitment has been firm. This dedication
is fuelled by a shared passion for Together For Cinema’s mission: to create and install dedicated cinema rooms in children’s hospices and other deserving good causes across the UK. The sight of a team member logging miles on a quiet country lane while their family enjoys a break is a testament to the commitment that Team TFC have made.
The team is made up of professionals from every corner of the AV industry - manufacturers, distributors, integrators, and consultants –and is united in its goal to raise a minimum of £15,000. This is no small feat, but the industry has a proven track record of rallying together to support this extraordinary cause. The funds raised will directly contribute to Together For Cinema’s ongoing projects, helping to bring the joy and escapism of a cinema experience to those who need it most.
As the big day approaches, the camaraderie within the group is unmistakeable. They share training tips, offer words of encouragement, and celebrate each milestone, creating a powerful sense of community that extends far beyond a shared love for cycling. The journey is not just about the physical challenge of climbing Ditchling Beacon; it’s about the collective effort to make a tangible difference in the lives of seriously ill children and their families. Their grit and determination will not only propel them to the finish line, it will also ensure that Together For Cinema can continue its vital work, one installation at a time. The entire industry will be cheering them on.

GIVINGBACK.TECH: A NEW INITIATIVE TO REPURPOSE AV EQUIPMENT FOR GOOD CAUSES
The AV industry is constantly innovating, and with that rapid change comes an inevitable surplus of equipment. What happens to that perfectly functional yet no longer needed B-stock, discontinued, or second-hand products? A new initiative, GivingBack.Tech, now in its beta testing phase and with a full launch planned for Spring 2026, plans to provide a solution that benefits both businesses and deserving causes.
Conceived by Together For Cinema founder, Ian Morrish, GivingBack.Tech is a platform designed to connect AV industry companies with Charities and Community Interest Companies (CICs) in need of technology. The concept is simple: businesses, from manufacturers and distributors, to integrators and consultants, to corporates and universities can list their excess AV equipment on the site, making it available to good causes that lack the budget for high-tech solutions. Organisations like a children’s hospice in need of a new display for a common room, an NHS hospital requiring a sound system for a patient education seminar, or a respite care centre that could use an updated video conferencing setup to connect families, could all benefit.
The platform is built on a principle of trust and a commitment to quality. While GivingBack.Tech will facilitate the connection, the responsibility lies with the donor to ensure all listed items are in good working order and to clearly note any cosmetic damage. Donors are also expected to cover the shipping costs and, if needed, provide technical assistance to the recipient. This ensures a seamless and effective donation process.
This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for the AV industry to repurpose valuable assets, support vital community services, and demonstrate its commitment to corporate social responsibility. By participating, you can help bridge the technology gap for countless deserving organisations. If you’d like to hear more about GivingBack.Tech and how you can get involved, Ian will be presenting a session in the Technical Theatre at EI Live! on Wednesday September 17 at 10:30 am and Thursday September 18 at 3 pm, or you can visit givingback.tech to register your interest.

No longer just a place for barbecues, garden furniture, or even higher-ticket items such as pools and exterior kitchens, the exterior space has become fertile ground for highperformance AV. These products are designed specifically to help installers deliver tailored, high-quality experiences that can transform patios, gardens and poolside spaces into yearround entertainment zones.
CHANGING TIMES FOR TV
At the heart of any outdoor AV setup is a display, and Samsung’s The Terrace range delivers a compelling solution. This is not a standard
indoor TV shoved into a weatherproof box— it’s a purpose-built outdoor screen that brings Samsung’s latest Neo QLED 4K technology into open-air environments. Designed to perform even in bright sunlight, it features high brightness levels, an anti-reflective coating and the brand’s NQ4 AI-powered processor for incredible clarity and contrast. The Terrace is also IP55/IP56-rated, meaning it’s built to withstand rain, dust and changing temperatures—perfect for the unpredictable British climate.
For installers, the appeal goes beyond performance. The Terrace requires no additional housing or bulky enclosure, streamlining the installation process while still delivering a sleek, high-end look. With full access to Samsung’s Tizen OS smart platform, customers can enjoy their favourite streaming apps, live sport or even Xbox Cloud Gaming—all from their garden lounge or poolside pergola. A wide range of sizes is available, so just get in touch to choose the right one for your customer.
AN OASIS OF AV ENJOYMENT
Of course, any visual experience demands an audio solution to match and that’s where Paradigm’s Garden Oasis Series truly shines. Known for its award-winning Hi-Fi and home cinema loudspeakers, Paradigm has translated that same expertise into a rugged and scalable outdoor system. The Garden Oasis range includes satellite speakers and in-ground subwoofers that blend effortlessly into the landscape, delivering rich, full-range sound without disrupting the natural aesthetics of the space.
This is a no compromise system. Paradigm uses advanced acoustic technologies, including its Reduced Edge Diffraction (RED) design and wide-dispersion tweeters, to ensure smooth, even coverage across large outdoor areas. Whether it’s background music during a barbecue or full-throttle sound for an outdoor party, installers can specify flexible configurations that scale with the space—whether that’s a small patio or a sprawling country garden.
The in-ground subs are particularly advanced, with their discreet mushroom-cap design hiding a serious amount of low-end energy beneath the surface. Durable HDPE enclosures and an IP58 rating make these units capable of enduring extreme conditions, all while producing the kind of bass response usually reserved for dedicated indoor cinemas.
STAYING LITHE
Adding more flexibility to an outdoor AV offering is the Lithe Audio iO1, an incredibly versatile active speaker that’s equally at home inside or out. It offers installers a simplified, all-in-one solution with built-in amplification and support for just about every modern connectivity standard: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Google Cast and Spotify Connect. The speaker’s IP66 weather rating means it can be surface-mounted in a wide variety of
positions—from walls and ceilings to overhangs and outdoor structures.
This is a product that fits perfectly into the way people now live and listen. Whether clients want a pair of speakers discreetly mounted by the hot tub or a multi-zone setup that extends their whole-home audio outdoors, the iO1 makes it easy to offer big-sounding, highresolution music wherever it’s needed—with minimal infrastructure.
A GROWING OPPORTUNITY
The message is clear: don’t treat the garden as an afterthought. These spaces are now being designed, engineered and enjoyed with the same care and ambition as interiors—and with the right products, they can become key areas of any premium AV install. From sunlightdefying screens to scalable landscape audio and smart all-in-one speakers, there’s never
been a better time to make the outdoors part of the AV conversation. The Invision and Pulse Cinemas teams stand ready to help you design and deliver high-performance exterior systems for this growing market sector, so get in touch to find out more.

FUNKY AND FUNCTIONAL?
Our intrepid trade-focused reviewer Richard Stevenson takes an in-depth look at the integrated online music offering of the Q Acoustics E300A.
Richard: “Alexa, make me an Echo speaker that offers much better sound quality and it can be installed so I don’t have to see it or its power cable.”
Alexa: “I’m sorry I can’t help you with that right now.”
Just as well that Q Acoustics can, with the superbly funky and functional E300A. Consider an amplified Echo-style Alexa smart amplifier that you install in the ceiling and connect to a pair, or even four, ceiling speakers for sound that is leagues ahead of anything direct from Amazon. The wife can shout, “Alexa, play Barry Manilow” in the kitchen while knocking up a risotto and swigging a cocktail, without having to dive into an app or put sticky fingers all over your flush-fit touch screens.
No word of a lie, that is precisely how the E300A worked in our kitchen and the cocktail was an Aperol spritz, just FYI.
Custom installation has always been about making technology invisible, but the rise of smart speaker convenience has invariably meant a plastic box with a trailing power cable sitting on a table or windowsill. The most successful CI projects are those where the client enjoys the benefits of the system without ever needing to see the equipment that makes it work, and the E300A is an outstanding solution for making smart speaker convenience invisible.
The E300A is a ceiling-mounted amplifier and smart audio hub that integrates Amazon Alexa directly into the ceiling space. The cut-
out of 102 millimetres baffled me for a suitable hole saw until I realised that it was ‘four inch’ and Screwfix offers a range of them in that size. It slots into the void secured by two ‘downlighter’ style spring clips, which at over 550g is getting close to spring weight limits, I would have thought. A dog-leg clamp would be better, but I didn’t notice any sag over the few weeks since installation.
Retro-fitting is definitely possible as long as you can get power to the 22V 1.5A in-line power supply that comes with a 3-pin fused plug as standard. Given that is also going in the ceiling void, chopping off the plug for the fused spur access from the room would be more than advisable. The E300A itself is 60-minute fire-rated, and our demo unit was supplied with Q Acoustics fire hoods and a pair of i80C speakers.
The speaker 18 AWG cable supplied would need binning for LZOH 16/2 in most cases but more usefully in the box you will find a remote control. Yes, a genuine IR handset remote control. When Alexa just can’t hear you over Copacabana at volume 9/10, the remote is a genius add-on to further make operation agro-free.
The E300A can be connected to the network via Ethernet for the most robust performance, or via Wi-Fi for ease. Spotify Connect, Airplay 2.0, Amazon Music and Tidal Connect are all supported. It offers 25W x 2 via Class D amps, cooled by a vertical fin, giving
the unit a maximum inset depth of 135mm from the ceiling surface. The connections are neatly placed half way down so they don’t add to the height and include some robust phoenix terminals for the speaker cables. The manual suggests stereo-paired speakers for smaller rooms, four for larger – the latter configurations with both channels series-wired.
LIVE AND DIRECT
For direct wireless playback there is Bluetooth 5.2, while physical inputs include both a combined mini-TOSLINK optical connection and a 3.5-millimetre analogue jack to integrate a TV or analogue audio source. There is a second RJ45 for a data cable running to a Q Acoustics Local Input Module, with analogue and digital physical connections to simplify AV systems integration.
Speaking of integrations, you can use the E300A with anything that is certified ‘Works With Alexa’ such as doorbells, thermostats and home security, if not any of the big-ticket control systems directly. Control4, for example, has an official Alexa Smart Home Skill, but the flow control is one-directional, so Alexa-only devices (i.e. cheap ‘Works With Alexa’ smart plugs) won’t appear inside C4.
Arguably, that isn’t the point of E300A anyway, as it’s all about its own stand-alone simplicity and convenience.
With the four-inch core drill bit cooling, the E300A hooks up very easily and pops into the hole, pulling itself snug. There are just the two buttons on the front, one to mute and unmute the mic and one to enter set-up mode and both together to do a factory reset. The room-facing panel features three mics for 360-degree voice command pick-up, similar to a 2nd Gen Echo. It also includes a colour LED ring with its own sign-language in colours and lit segments.
The Q Acoustics Q NET app on iOS and Android (not to be confused with the QNET app… as usual, we make the howlers, so you don’t have to…) offers basic functionality to get the E300A hooked up to the Wi-Fi system and relevant Alexa account. And that is about it for set-up. Slick.
It operates just like an Alexa smart speaker, albeit Alexa’s voice can be a little scary if you have the volume turned up and she is giving it the full ‘voice of God’ from above. It responds every bit as seamlessly as Amazon’s own kit, and the three mics pick up your voice well even with the volume racked up. Turn the volume too high and you still have the remote to fall back on if Alexa is metaphorically holding her fingers in her ears at the time.
I have always liked Q Acoustics’ in-wall and in-ceiling speakers as it’s a brand that genuinely cares about install speaker sound quality, rather than simply offering a low-cost ‘background noise’ solution. The i80C is no exception. With the E300A, a pair does create a sound that will eat an Echo Studio for breakfast and still have room for an Echo Dot for dessert and a Pop with coffee. It’s big, bold and rich compared to an Echo device and, if not exactly high-end fidelity, it does elevate Echo-music to a new level. I’d love an RF remote that you didn’t have to
point at the unit to work and maybe a few more Watts - but that is being really picky for the price.
For any install, from a budget TV room to a high-end cinema, if the household uses an Alexa, somewhere in the house, someone will likely want the performance and convenience of the E300A and in-ceiling speakers. It’s a nice little low-cost add-on to the primary job, perhaps, “Alexa - is this something for the kitchen?”
“Yes, the Q Acoustics E300A would make an ideal smart speaker system for the kitchen, and you won’t have an Echo device or trailing cables showing. Would you like me to find a local installer?”
Product pricing comes in at £849 for the bundle of the E300A plus a pair of Q Acoustics QI 80C 8in speakers. Other speaker combos are available. The E300A on its own is £599. The Q Acoustics QI 80CF Fire & Acoustic hood (for speakers) are £82 each.

LED STUDIO LAUNCHES CineLED
LED Studio introduced CineLED to redefine the home cinema experience.
For over 15 years, LED Studio has been at the forefront of LED innovation, developing patented technologies that set new standards for performance, sustainability and ease of installation. Based in Hampshire and led by founder and CEO Rob Bint, the company designs every product in-house, combining engineering excellence with practical, integrator-friendly design.
Now, that same pedigree is entering the residential space with the launch of CineLED, LED Studio’s first fine-pixel-pitch range engineered specifically for high-end home environments. Merging British design and precision manufacturing with the brand’s signature sustainability and reliability, CineLED offers a cinematic experience at home, even in bright, multi-use spaces.
THE COMMERCIAL-GRADE DIFFERENCE
CineLED is built on the same foundations as LED Studio’s commercial systems. The manufacturer is a pioneer of energy-efficient LED solutions and has introduced industry-first hardware and software integrations that have redefined how LED is designed, installed and maintained. These eliminate unnecessary complexity, extend product life and reduce environmental impact and operating costs.
By engineering everything in-house, LED Studio can control every detail from the pixel technology to the way it’s mounted. That means the installer’s job is easier, the owner’s experience is better and reduces the operational costs and environmental footprint.
CineLED also benefits from a strategic partnership with Brompton Technology, the world leader in LED video processing. Used in elite broadcast, film and live events, Brompton’s processing unlocks next-level colour accuracy, dynamic range and image performance. This integration brings the very best of commercialgrade visual technology into the home, raising the bar for what residential LED can achieve.
MICROLED, MACRO IMPACT
CineLED is built on a MicroLED In Package (MIP) platform, using RGB diodes smaller than 100 microns to achieve ultra-fine pixel pitches. This enables crisp, high-resolution imagery with close-up comfort and wide viewing angles, so every seat feels like the best in the house. The MPI design also enhances durability, offering protection against knocks and static.
Boasting up to 99% (DCI-P3 colour coverage and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, CineLED delivers deep, rich and accurate visuals. A multi-layer calibration process, performed under various brightness levels, ensures colour consistency across all lighting conditions, critical for achieving a true cinema-grade experience at home. Brightness of up to 1000 nits keeps content vibrant and impactful, whether in a dedicated theatre or a daylight-filled living space. Thanks to 5G bandwidth and a 240Hz refresh rate, CineLED excels with fast-paced content like gaming and sports. An adaptive frame rate switching technology ensures smooth playback regardless of the source.
CUSTOM FIT
LED’s modularity gives CineLED a clear edge. It can be configured to almost any size or aspect ratio, tailored to the room rather than constrained by it. From a wall-to-wall statement screen to a discrete installation within bespoke joinery, CineLED adapts to the homeowner’s aesthetic and functional needs.
This flexibility opens up new possibilities for home cinema, particularly in spaces where traditional projection or flat panels fall short. Whether it’s a dual-purpose lounge, an entertainment hub or a room flooded with daylight, CineLED maintains image quality without compromise.
It also integrates seamlessly with leading control platforms, enabling synchronised lighting, shading and audio. Its multi-source
capability means homeowners can watch a film, monitor live sport and connect a gaming console simultaneously.
SUSTAINABILITY AND LONGEVITY
Environmental responsibility has always been central to LED Studio’s ethos. CineLED carries forward the company’s low-impact engineering principles, using energy-efficient components and modular systems that support upgrades without full replacement. Localised service hubs reduce the carbon footprint associated with ongoing support.
Unlike many LED displays, CineLED features an enhanced thermo-dynamic cabinet that operates silently and remains cool to the touch. This not only ensures a comfortable viewing environment but also protects internal components, extending lifespan to 100,000 hours. With no consumables and minimal maintenance required, CineLED offers longterm peace of mind.
A NEW CHAPTER FOR HOME AV
CineLED represents a significant shift for the residential market. It delivers commercial-grade visual performance and sustainability in a format that fits seamlessly into the home, offering integrators the opportunity to provide something genuinely different.

ARE WE SELLING OURSELVES SHORT?
Welcome to the second edition of this new column where EI ’s editor Daniel J Sait shares his thoughts on the sector. This month, he asks, are we selling ourselves short website design-wise?
I’ve spent a good part of my professional life looking at smart home and home cinema installer websites. I’ve had the pleasure of writing, editing or assessing many of them down the years. Many are outstanding—technically competent, clearly laid out and visually impressive. But there’s a recurring problem in our sector that can often be overlooked: while technical credibility is easy to demonstrate, emotional reassurance is far too often left out.
Phrases like ‘we work with high-end brands’ or ‘we deliver bespoke systems’ are fine on the surface. They suggest capability and quality— but they don’t differentiate. Because the truth is, almost every installer says those same things. So while the claims might be true, they’re not especially helpful when a prospective client is trying to choose between multiple providers who all say more or less the same.
What really lands with homeowners is language that reflects their experience, not ours. They want to know that the cinema will
wow their friends and be simple enough for the whole family to use. They want to hear that their installer understands how important it is for things to work smoothly—not just on day one, but every day. In short, they want emotional reassurance, not just technical competence.
I’m talking about messaging like:
‘You’ll get a cinema that looks incredible and is super simple to use—every time.’
‘We make smart tech simple to live with.’
‘We’ll stay until it’s perfect.’
This is the type of language that speaks to how a customer will feel after the work is done. It’s confident, clear and comforting—and that’s exactly what most clients are looking for.
Marketing experts constantly remind us that website copy should read like a conversation, not a datasheet. The goal is to invite the visitor into a journey, not just showcase credentials. And yet, so many installers still default to lists of
products, promises that are not 100% clear, or industry buzzwords.
So, if your current site doesn’t clearly say how you’ll make life better, easier or more enjoyable for your client, it might be time for a rethink. Here are three quick pointers worth considering:
• Talk benefits, not just features — Explain how your work changes lives, not just what you install.
• Show personality, not just capability — Make sure your site reflects who you really are.
• Reassure, don’t just impress — Build trust by talking about what matters to homeowners, not just what excites engineers.
In the end, your website is often the first conversation a customer has with your business. Make sure it sounds like something they want to be part of. Because when emotion and expertise combine, that’s when the real magic happens.
CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS IN ACCESS CONTROL: PROTECTING BUILDINGS, BUSINESSES AND BEYOND
As a master distributor for 2N, Alltrade is proud to offer a comprehensive range of the brand’s innovative products, ensuring that advanced residential access solutions are readily available.
With a commitment to delivering the highest standards of security and technology, Alltrade supports installers and integrators in creating safe, cyber-resilient environments for homeowners. By partnering with 2N, Alltrade provides not only top-tier products but also the expertise and resources necessary to meet the growing demands for secure and reliable residential and commercial access systems.
2N discusses why awareness is the first line of defence in Access Control and Cybersecurity.
CYBERSECURITY IN A CONNECTED WORLD
As buildings and businesses become ever more connected, the line between convenience and vulnerability is increasingly blurred. IPbased access control systems, cloud platforms and smart devices are all part of this digital transformation, but each one can be a potential entry point for cybercriminals.
Cybersecurity threats are no longer confined to IT departments. They are real-world risks that can shut down casinos and ground airlines or compromise critical infrastructure – all because of a single, careless mistake.
That’s why cybersecurity awareness isn’t just an IT concern. It’s a company-wide priority and a personal responsibility.
HUMAN ERROR –THE WEAKEST LINK
No firewall, encryption, or AI-driven security system can fully protect against the weakest link in cybersecurity – human error. In fact, the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report indicates that 95% of all data breaches involve a human element, whether through weak passwords, falling for phishing scams, ignoring security advisories, neglecting periodic updates, using default settings, or misconfiguring security settings.
Hackers are aware of this and exploit it systematically, often bypassing sophisticated security systems by simply tricking employees into granting access. No matter how advanced your cybersecurity measures are or how much
cybersecurity awareness you think you possess, one careless click or a reused password can bring an entire organisation to its knees.
HOW USERS PUT ORGANISATIONS AT RISK
• Weak and reused passwords: Studies show that more than 50% of people reuse passwords across multiple accounts, making it easy for hackers to gain access after a single breach.
• Phishing attacks: More than 3.4 billion phishing emails are sent every day, and shockingly, one in four employees admit to clicking on phishing links. The increasing sophistication of phishing attempts, often boosted by artificial intelligence, has made them more convincing and harder to detect.
• Lost or stolen credentials: Over 15 billion stolen credentials circulate on the dark web, giving hackers an easy way into corporate systems.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLES
The MGM Resorts Hack (2023) was a 10-minute call that cost $100M. A simple social engineering attack enabled hackers to take down MGM Resorts’ hotel and casino systems for weeks. Cybercriminals used LinkedIn to gather employee details, then
posed as an MGM IT worker and tricked a real employee into resetting access credentials over the phone. The result? A complete system shutdown – ATMs, hotel keycards, slot machines and even digital menus stopped working. MGM’s estimated losses exceeded $100 million.
Even a brief lapse in cybersecurity awareness can have devastating consequences. As the MGM Resorts hack proves all too clearly, the cost of the wrong click has never been higher.
BUILDING RESILIENCE
Even the most well-trained end users and cautious system integrators are powerless if the technology they rely on has high-risk vulnerabilities built in. This is why cybersecurity awareness must start at the foundation –within the design and development of the products themselves.
SECURE-BY-DESIGN
A fundamental shift in product development is represented by the secure-by-design approach, which ensures that security is an integral part of the entire product development process, not an afterthought. This entails implementing rigorous security measures throughout the entire development process, from the initial design phase to coding, testing, deployment and long-term maintenance.
By following industry cybersecurity best practices, such as threat modelling, risk assessment and security vulnerability testing, manufacturers can significantly reduce the risk of exploitable weaknesses. Instead of reacting to threats after they occur, secure-by-design products are built with proactive security features from day one.
SSDLC – WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Achieving truly robust security requires a structured, standardised approach to software development. That’s where the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) comes in. It defines key cybersecurity best practices that organisations should integrate into their software development life cycle. These practices help reduce the number of potential vulnerabilities in cybersecurity, improve software integrity and enhance cybersecurity resilience.
WHY COMPLIANCE MATTERS
In today’s connected world, data security and network security are no longer just technical concerns — they’re legal and reputational imperatives. As threats evolve and digital infrastructure expands, the regulatory frameworks designed to keep systems secure must keep up. But achieving compliance with these regulations isn’t just about avoiding fines or ticking boxes. It’s about embedding security into every stage of product development and system integration. For property managers, real estate developers and system integrators alike, the question is simple: would you trust a device that doesn’t meet the latest cybersecurity regulations standards? As, when a manufacturer overlooks mandatory cybersecurity regulations, it raises a much bigger concern — what else might they be neglecting?
PSTI INFRASTRUCTURE
One of the most significant recent regulatory shifts is the UK’s Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) Act, which requires manufacturers of connected devices to provide clear information about their software update policies. This means that companies can no longer discontinue security updates without notice, leaving systems vulnerable. Plus, they must:
• Declare how long software updates will be available before product end-of-life.
• Disable the use of products with default passwords, ensuring devices enforce the setup of unique passwords.
• Publicly provide means for users and researchers to stay cybersecurity conscious and report potential flaws.
READY FOR EU’S RED?
The Radio Equipment Directive (RED), enforced by the European Union, is evolving to introduce mandatory cybersecurity requirements for all wireless and
radio-connected devices. This is also relevant for IP-based intercoms and access control systems, as these systems often utilise radiobased technologies for access control, such as RFID card readers or Bluetooth readers. If a device does not comply with the RED, it could face operational disruptions or even be banned from sale in the EU.
To learn more about the directive, 2N has prepared a guide to help you navigate all aspects of RED: www.2n.com/en-GB/theradio-equipment-directive-RED.
HOW 2N BUILDS IN CYBERSECURITY
As part of the Axis Group, 2N has adopted the Axis Security Development Model (ASDM), a meticulously designed framework built upon the fundamental principles of the SSDLC. Axis has developed this model with a strong focus on cybersecurity awareness, ensuring that every product undergoes rigorous security checks before being released to customers. By implementing ASDM, 2N aligns with industry leading practices and upholds the highest security standards in its own development process.
WHY PARTNER WITH TRANSPARENT MANUFACTURERS?
Partnering with manufacturers that follow strong vulnerability disclosure practices benefits everyone involved:
• To protect your clients: Customers expect secure, up-to-date systems. Working with vendors who release timely updates ensures long-term protection and trust.
• To strengthen your expertise: Knowing how to respond to a vulnerability in cyber security makes you a more valuable integrator — and opens up new service opportunities, like maintenance contracts and update packages.
• To ensure vendor responsibility: Responsible vendors provide clear guidance, early warnings and security advisories — including public vulnerability policies and transparent communication.
A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
We’ve come full circle: no system will ever be 100% secure and vulnerabilities will always arise. But with responsible reporting, proactive security vulnerability testing and transparent collaboration between manufacturers and integrators, risks can be mitigated — and trust can be built.
Whether you’re an integrator, developer, or security researcher, your role in cybersecurity matters. And understanding how to manage vulnerabilities is one of the most important skills you can build.

SWANN LAUNCHES EVO WIRELESS SOLAR SECURITY CAMERA FOR TRULY WIRE-FREE INSTALLATION
Swann, a global player in security solutions, has unveiled its latest innovation: the EVO Wireless 2K Security Camera with Integrated Solar Panel.
Designed for professional deployment, the camera offers wire-free, subscription-free security and provides a highly flexible solution for installers working in challenging or remote locations, says the company. Its compact, robust form factor and solar-powered functionality make it ideal for sites where traditional wired cameras are impractical.
For installers, the EVO Wireless Solar represents a significant step forward in ease of deployment, says the company. The camera’s integrated solar panel allows it to recharge independently, with just 45 minutes of sunlight generating enough power for daily operation. Swann says this removes the need for regular manual charging or wiring back to mains power, reducing installation time and simplifying longterm maintenance.
Installers are increasingly required to provide flexible security solutions in locations without easy access to power, says Swann. The EVO Wireless Solar is designed to meet that demand, offering a camera that can operate reliably anywhere, year-round.
WEATHERPROOF AND RELIABLE
Durability is a key consideration for outdoor installations, says the company. Built to withstand extreme temperatures, rain, and snow, the EVO Wireless Solar delivers consistent performance in all conditions, says Swann. Its rugged design gives installers confidence that the system will function reliably regardless of environmental challenges, says the company.
HIGH-QUALITY IMAGING AND INTELLIGENT MONITORING
The camera captures footage in sharp 2K Full HD with advanced image sensors and infrared night vision, ensuring clear imagery both day and night, says the company. Its 120° wideangle lens reduces blind spots, allowing coverage of larger areas with fewer cameras, which can simplify system planning and reduce overall deployment costs.
Intelligent heat and motion detection helps distinguish between human activity and environmental movement, reducing false alerts. Two-way audio enables remote communication directly through the camera, providing an additional layer of monitoring and control for managed sites.
SUBSCRIPTION-FREE AND LOCAL STORAGE
Each EVO Wireless Solar comes with a 16GB MicroSD card, enabling on-device recording without the need for ongoing subscription fees. Footage can be accessed remotely through the Swann Security app, giving installation teams full control over
video storage and retrieval. This model allows installers to offer a flexible, low-maintenance solution that avoids recurring costs for clients, says the company.
INSTALLATION FLEXIBILITY AND DEPLOYMENT OPTIONS
The lightweight design, combined with wireless, solar-powered operation, allows the camera to be installed in locations that would otherwise be difficult or costly to reach, says Swann. From building perimeters to remote outbuildings, the EVO Wireless Solar expands possibilities for professional security solutions across a range of sites.

EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY!
Jason Knott, EI’s resident number cruncher, former CE Pro Editor and data solutions architect evangelist at D-Tools, underlines why integrators need a client dog policy.
To the untrained ear, a barking dog at a client’s home might seem like little more than background noise. But for residential integrators, it can be a ticking time bomb. One wrong move, one startled snap, and suddenly you’re not installing a control panel, instead you’re logging an accident report, navigating legal fallout and explaining to a client why their ‘harmless little one’ bit you.
This isn’t a one-in-a-million mishap. For most integrators, encountering pets on-site is about as common as checking for signal strength. Some dogs are laid-back. Others are nosey. Many just want a fuss. But the reality is you can’t always predict which ones might turn.
THE HIDDEN RISK IN A WAGGING TAIL
Let’s get one thing straight: this isn’t about being anti-dog. Most technicians like pets. But no matter how well-behaved they appear, animals can react unpredictably to loud noises, unfamiliar people, or moving equipment… especially when their owners are distracted or not present.
Even when installers respectfully request that pets be secured during visits, the response is inconsistent. Some homeowners are cooperative, while others shrug it off. ‘Oh, he’s just saying hello.’ ‘She wouldn’t hurt a fly.’ Until, of course, she does.
Take it from one integrator who was bitten on-site by a dog that wasn’t even the client’s… it belonged to another contractor working the same job. That bite led to a week in hospital and, three years on, he’s still entangled in legal disputes with no clear resolution in sight.
HEALTH, SAFETY, AND LEGAL WRANGLES
When an incident happens, the consequences are more than just needing a cuppa to calm your nerves. In the UK, under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, employers are legally obliged to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of their
employees. That includes taking preventative steps where foreseeable risks like aggressive animals exist.
If a technician is injured, your Employers’ Liability Insurance will usually kick in. But that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook. Claims lead to increased premiums, lost working hours, soured client relationships, and the possibility of enforcement action from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) if your risk assessments are found wanting.
And while pet owners can be held liable under the Animals Act 1971 or even face criminal charges under the Dangerous Dogs Act, pursuing them in court is a slow, uncertain and costly affair. Meanwhile, your technician is recovering, your job is delayed and your business bears the brunt.
BITE BACK:
ESTABLISH A DOG POLICY
So, what’s the fix? It’s simple: put a clear, written dog policy in place and build it directly into your client agreements. Here’s what that should include:
• Mandatory pet confinement: Before any work begins, dogs must be safely confined, whether in a crate, a separate room, or outside. If this condition isn’t met, the installer should be empowered to postpone or cancel the visit without fear of repercussion.
• Client acknowledgement: Include a clause in your service terms requiring clients to accept responsibility for managing their pets and ensuring the safety of visiting staff.
• Technician autonomy: Your team should never feel pressured to ‘just get on with it.’ If an animal is loose and they feel unsafe, they should have full authority to step away without being required to call the office for permission to do so.
• Incident protocol: Should something go wrong, ensure everything is documented, such as photos, statements, medical records and all correspondence with the client. This isn’t overkill; it’s just good practice.
• Staff training: Equip your installers with basic awareness training on canine behaviour. Recognising the signs of stress or aggression—raised hackles, rigid posture, growling—can help them avoid risky situations. Also, account for allergies and animal-related anxieties among your staff.
SAFETY ISN’T A SUGGESTION, IT’S A STANDARD
Dismissing this as over-cautious? Think again. Ignoring a dog on-site is like ignoring an exposed wire… it might be quiet now, but it’s a matter of time before it can cause a problem. One avoidable incident can throw your schedule into chaos, damage client trust and send your insurance premiums soaring.
Clients who value professionalism will understand. Your technicians will appreciate knowing you prioritise their safety. And your business will run smoother with fewer nasty surprises. Having a dog policy doesn’t mean you dislike pets, it means you like keeping people safe.

SANUS – THE BEST CUSTOM INSTALLATION AV MOUNTING SOLUTIONS
As part of Legrand, a global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructures, operating in 90 countries and with a global workforce of 38,000, it is safe to say Sanus is a major player in the Premium Audio-Visual Mounting realm. In fact, it is the no.1 best-selling TV mount brand in the U.S.*
For over 35 years the Sanus name has been synonymous with truly innovative products. It is a world-leader in TV mounting solutions, with a range of mounts that is second-to-none. And as flat panels have become an integral part of everyone’s homes, it’s increasingly important installers to truly maximise their customers’ experience by offering high-quality mounting solutions.
INNOVATION AT THE HEART
The company’s TV mounts can be categorised as Full Motion, Tilting or Fixed, with all variants available in small, medium or large sizes. Always innovating, the latest technological developments include 4D + Shift technology, which makes it possible to adjust the height of the TV by up to 20cm, post installation. This adjustment enables easy precision placement, making it ideal for mounting the TV around a power outlet or above a mantle. It provides enough space to add a soundbar or adjust around any decorations below the TV. And should there be any kind of mismeasurement during installation, it is easy to reposition the TV to the perfect place.
The Shift enabled VSF817, VMF822 and VLF828 mounts which cater for screens from 19in up to 90in and a maximum weight of over 56kg. Each one features 4D full-motion maneuverability and the tried and tested Sanus features such as Virtual Axis, FluidMotion and ProSet.
Sanus is also known for its extra-large mounts, catering for the biggest of screens –very useful for high-end custom installations. For example, the VXL7 is a fixed position mount that accommodates TV screens up to 140” in size and VESA patterns up to 1100x700, making it the perfect accompaniment for the ultra large screens from TCL and other brands.
If a tilting option is required, the VXT7 utilises the same wall plate as the VXL7, but with the additional benefit of enabling the screen to be tilted by +7/-10 degrees and fits VESA up to 1100x800.
The VXF830 takes this extra-large screen capability to the next level, with full motion capability for screens from 65” to 100” and weighing 79kg. At the same time, it offers full-motion capabilities including tilt, swivel, and extension and works with VESA patterns to 900x600.
Mindful of the need for TVs to be integrated into the home environment with the minimum of intrusion, Sanus has long championed Super
Slim as a core feature of its mounts, positioning the screen as close as possible to the wall. Even with the full motion VLFS820, with its capability to mount 40”-90” screens, provide a 50cm extension and 58-degree swivel, it holds the screen just 4cm from the wall.
SOUND TOO
It’s not just vision products that Sanus focuses on. Its range of audio accessories provide capability of mounting everything from a Sonos Amp to wireless speakers or a soundbar.
The BSSU2 speaker stands are a universal stand that is compatible with wireless speakers from the likes of Sony, Samsung, Denon, Sonos, and many others. They provide a sleek design that ensures superb audio performance, while perfectly complementing the aesthetics of the speakers they are designed to be used with.
Its WSBWM1 Universal Extendable Soundbar Mount maximises the audio performance of Dolby Atmos equipped soundbars, by allowing the enabling the up-firing speakers to perform as designed and unhindered by extending the soundbar away from under the TV for a fully immersive experience.

SELLING AUDIO: WHY EVERY INSTALLER CAN SUCCEED
David Anderson, Managing Director at specialist distributor Avoke, explains how his company offers reassurance and practical advice for integrators ready to offer quality music and audio solutions. Visit Avoke on Stand 101 at EI Live! 2025.
Audio remains one of the most compelling and universally loved enhancements you can offer your clients. Yet many installers hesitate before adding audio solutions to their portfolio, believing that selling audio is difficult, that clients may not be interested, or that the set-up is too complex. We at Avoke are delighted to confirm that the reality is much brighter. If you have clients who enjoy music (and who doesn’t?), then selling audio is not only possible—it’s an opportunity waiting to be seized. We specialise in audio experiences and with Avoke by your side, you have a team ready to understand your challenges.
CLIENTS WANT AUDIO— THEY JUST HAVEN’T BEEN ASKED
Music is woven into the fabric of everyday life. Most people already have a relationship with music, but they may not realize how much better life could sound with an expertly installed system. Avoke is here to help you prove that If
you already serve clients—be it homeowners or businesses—then you have a receptive audience ready for the benefits that audio brings. We find that many installers assume that if clients wanted audio, they would ask for it directly. However, clients often aren’t aware of the possibilities. Years ago the Hi-Fi was the heart of the home, but technology has evolved leaving clients no longer aware of their options, especially when it comes to a standalone system. When you introduce the idea of seamless, high-quality sound that blends with their décor and daily routines, you’re not just selling a product—you’re opening up a new world of enjoyment. In our experience your clients will thank you for suggesting what they didn’t know they needed and for making their house a home.
SELLING AUDIO IS EASIER THAN YOU THINK
Selling audio doesn’t require you to become an audiophile. The key is to ask a few simple questions to understand how clients use their
spaces: Do they invite people round? Do they love movie nights? Do they relax with music in the background? Etc. Each ‘yes’ is an invitation to introduce a tailored audio solution. For example, not every lounge may be suitable for a 5.1 home theatre solution, but a 2.0/2.1 audio system would fit the space and design perfectly. Ideal for listening to music, even better when it can also connect to the TV for improved sound.
Modern audio products are designed for versatility, aesthetics and ease of use. We believe the opportunity for small stand-alone systems is undersold. There are solutions for every budget. The technology is reliable, intuitive and often requires minimal training for both installers and clients. You are not just adding a line item to your proposal—you’re enhancing your reputation as a solutions provider.
SET-UP HAS NEVER BEEN SIMPLER
Gone are the days of spending hours calibrating equipment (although you can if you wish to). Today’s audio systems prioritise plug-and-play simplicity. It is not an either/or between in-ceiling speakers and traditional Hi-Fi speakers. Your tailored solutions can use both, as well as active speakers or amplifiers (both separates and integrated). Avoke works with manufacturers that prioritise audio quality, ease of install and most importantly ease of use.
If you can install and specify lighting, security, or networking solutions, you can install and specify audio with confidence. We are at hand to offer informed recommendations and as your comfort grows, you can expand your offerings to more advanced configurations, knowing that help is always available.
UNLOCK NEW VALUE FOR YOUR BUSINESS—AND YOUR CLIENTS
Audio is more than just another product; it’s an experience enhancer and smile inducer. By offering professionally installed audio, you’re helping clients rediscover their favourite music, making movie nights unforgettable and adding lasting value to their spaces. You’re also building stronger client relationships and opening the door to future upgrades and referrals.
If you have clients, your clients love music, and set-up is easy, then selling audio isn’t just possible—it’s a natural next step. Start the conversation, share your enthusiasm and see where the sound takes your business. We look forward to working with you. Contact us anytime.

The company’s origins lie not only in interior design and construction, but also in a deep passion for sound and music.
This unique blend of disciplines has shaped an approach that treats a cinema as more than a room — it is an immersive experience where audio, design and craftsmanship work in harmony.
From the outset, Cinema Luxe positioned itself differently. Rather than supplying technology, it specialises exclusively in the design and build of cinema interiors. The aim is simple: to create environments that both complement and elevate the AV systems provided by trusted integration partners.
The company has grown steadily, building a team of specialists across design, manufacturing, project management and installation. With every capability housed under one roof, Cinema Luxe maintains complete control over quality and delivery. This ensures projects meet the high expectations of discerning clients and the performance standards required by leading AV integrators.
Today, Cinema Luxe is recognised across the UK and Europe as a partner that brings together interior ambition, acoustic performance and flawless execution — helping integrators deliver projects that resonate as much with the eye as with the ear.
WHY INTEGRATORS CHOOSE CINEMA LUXE
Cinema Luxe occupies a deliberately defined space in the market: it is not an AV dealer and does not supply technology. Instead, it exists to complement integrators, never to compete with them. That clarity has built strong and trusted relationships, giving integrators confidence to introduce Cinema Luxe into their most prestigious projects.
The company’s role is to take ownership of the cinema interior. From the earliest concept stage, Cinema Luxe ensures that the design embraces and celebrates the technical
requirements of the system, rather than treating them as obstacles. By protecting performance potential within the design process, compromises are avoided, and the system can achieve its full impact.
For integrators, this collaboration is transformative. Cinema Luxe removes the pressure of managing interior details, coordinating contractors and balancing aesthetics against performance. Instead, the integrator can focus on what they do best — delivering exceptional technology integration — while Cinema Luxe delivers the complete interior to the highest standard.
This non-competitive, partner-first approach is what sets Cinema Luxe apart. It is not simply about providing a service; it is about safeguarding the reputation of the integrator and ensuring the end client experiences a cinema that exceeds their expectations in both design and performance.

THE CINEMA LUXE PROCESS
Every project begins with a brief. Cinema Luxe has refined this stage into a discipline of its own, listening carefully to clients and partners to understand aspirations and translate them into a clear, achievable vision.
Concepts are developed primarily in 3D, allowing clients and project teams to visualise the outcome early. Yet unlike purely conceptual studios, Cinema Luxe ensures that every design is grounded in buildability. As a design-and-build contractor, the company is responsible for delivery — so every detail proposed has already been considered in terms of construction and execution.
Once concepts are approved, detailed technical and construction drawings are produced. These not only guide the inhouse team, but also serve architects, main contractors, HVAC specialists and electricians. By coordinating all parties from the outset, Cinema Luxe eliminates many of the issues that can derail projects, ensuring a smoother, more predictable build.
Manufacture and fit-out are carried out by Cinema Luxe’s own workshop and installation team, covering bespoke joinery, metalwork and upholstery. With complete control from design through to finishing, the company maintains consistency of quality and attention to detail at every stage.
For integrators, this means peace of mind: a reliable partner that can manage the complexities of the interior while aligning seamlessly with the technical demands of the AV system.
STANDOUT PROJECTS
Cinema Luxe’s portfolio demonstrates the impact of combining interior excellence with technical performance.
BUZZARDS ROAD
Delivered with IndigoZest, this cinema was awarded Best Global Home Cinema at the Design Et Al International Design & Architecture Awards. The project was chosen by over 90,000 international architects and interior designers, marking a rare recognition of a CI-led project within the broader design community. It showcased how thoughtful interiors and cutting-edge AV can achieve world-class results.
L-ACOUSTICS HYRISS FACILITY
In 2023, Cinema Luxe was commissioned to design and build the interiors for L-Acoustics’ HYRISS facility in London. The brief required a unique blend of acoustic performance and luxury finishing, reflecting the brand’s reputation as a global leader in professional sound. The result was a facility that combined technical precision with design-led sophistication.
PRIVATE RESIDENCES
Across the UK and Europe, Cinema Luxe has delivered home cinemas in a variety of architectural contexts — from contemporary basements to heritage estates. Each is unique in style, but consistent in its delivery of acoustic excellence, luxurious materials and seamless integration of technology.
These projects highlight Cinema Luxe’s ability to act as the bridge between the ambition of the design, the demands of the technology, and the realities of construction.
THE VALUE OF INTERIORS
The interior design of cinema spaces has historically been undervalued compared to other areas of high-end homes. Kitchens, dressing rooms and wine cellars often command significant investment per square foot, while cinema rooms — despite their complexity — have not always received the same focus.
Cinema Luxe is working with integrators to shift this perception. By framing cinema interiors as a luxury product in their own right, complete with bespoke finishes, acoustic treatments and detailed craftsmanship, clients begin to see their value on par with other key spaces in the home.
This presents a clear opportunity for integrators. With Cinema Luxe as a partner, they can confidently specify higher-quality finishes and bespoke interiors that elevate the entire project. This not only enhances the end client’s experience, but also strengthens the integrator’s position as a provider of complete, design-led solutions.
When interiors are treated as integral to the cinema experience — not as an afterthought — the result is a space that feels coherent, immersive, and aligned with the broader design language of the home.
LOOKING AHEAD
Cinema Luxe continues to evolve, expanding its team and capabilities to meet growing demand. Ongoing innovation includes the development of discreet, integrated wall systems that combine acoustic absorption, diffusion and bass management without compromising visual design.
The company’s future focus remains consistent: delivering cinema interiors of exceptional quality, executed with precision and care. For AV integrators, this means a trusted partner that will continue to add value, strengthen client relationships and help deliver cinema experiences that set new standards in the industry.

AV EMEA: THE PERFECT PARTNER
AV EMEA is the leading full-service AV business development company. Martin Harding, one of three partners at AV EMEA explains more.
In its most basic form, we are a service provider or, if you like, an ‘international rep firm’. Simply put, we help brands in the AV and custom install industry take care of their international distribution, find new markets, develop existing customers and act as a company’s export sales managers, working closely with their own team. We take great pride in giving a high level of service to both our customers, (whether that is distributors, importers, custom installers or retailers) and to the brands who we work for.
We don’t think there is another ‘full service’ business like ours in the AV/CI business as far as we are aware, so we are proud of our unique business model.
Here’s what we do:
• INTERNATIONAL SALES giving frequent contacts to our mutual customers.
• TECH SUPPORT and service assistance.
• PRODUCT TRAINING whether remote or local.
• MARKETING and branding with our own email campaigns, PR and social media.
• LOGISTICS support and European warehousing.
• ORDER FULFILMENT if required.
• SHOW SUPPORT by exhibiting at ISE and at HIGH END and we attend many international shows.
Large multi-national companies and big brands can usually afford their own export sales team and have regional offices. However, smaller firms often don’t have enough sales to pay for a professional export team of their own - or simply just don’t have knowledge of how international business is done. That’s where we come in.
As the name AV EMEA suggests, we focus on Europe, the Middle East/Africa and Asia and our team all come from this specific industry. We are all experienced international ‘export people’ and we have spent our whole careers in the AV industry. We are currently a team of four (we’re looking for a fifth if you’re interested, qualified and experienced!) - and we each look after different geographical areas based on our experience.
Here is our current portfolio of partner brands:
• ACOUSTIC ENERGY – Award winning home Hi-Fi speakers.
• AMINA – High quality invisible speakers for homes and elegant spaces.
• AXIUM – Distributed high quality audio and control.
• MERIDIAN – The pioneers of digital active and high-resolution audio.
• PARASOUND – Legendary Hi-Fi amplification and audio components.
• POWERGRIP – Affordable power conditioning and smart protection.
• PRIMARE – Swedish designed Hi-Fi and home theater electronics.
• REKKORD – Automatic turntables handmade in Europe.
• SCP CABLE – Structured and low voltage cables and accessories.
• STORMAUDIO – The ultimate in high-end immersive AV processors.
• TDG AUDIO – High quality custom install loudspeakers.
• TORUS POWER – Toroidal isolation and power conditioning.
• VANGUARD DYNAMICS – Smart home audio and custom install speakers.
• WIREWORLD – The performance leader in AV cable technology.
We have good relationships with all our brands and are treated as an extension of their team - so we often carry business cards from each individual brand. In a sense we are like international AV business ‘marriage brokers’ – getting two interested parties to talk to each other - and that is where the magic happens!
It’s important to us that we ‘add value’ for both our brands and our customers and as lots of our brands have been working with us for many years, we must be doing something right! What separates us from a simple ‘sales rep’ is that we offer a better and more complete service, and as we don’t work for anyone on commission only, we are more valued by our brands as business partners, rather than just as the ‘hired help’. We have always had the viewpoint that we give our brands full visibility of what we are up to and who we are talking to. After all - the brand is paying us so it’s their right to have full information or feedback from distributors and industry contacts. ‘Knowledge is power’ – and if we share the knowledge of what’s going on in a market, that helps our partners to know what products to develop and what prices they need to be targeting in order to be successful.
Sometimes we joke that we are like the oil in the engine; you don’t necessarily see us but you miss us when we’re not there!

AV EMEA uses many different routes to expand the reach of the brands the company represents
THEBEN - OVER 30 YEARS AT THE HEART OF KNX
When it comes to KNX, Theben isn’t just another manufacturer. We’ve been part of the story since the very beginning - influencing, innovating, and helping integrators deliver smarter buildings for more than three decades. Paul Foulkes, Country Manager Theben Automation, explains more.
Back in 1992, Theben was one of the very first companies to join the KNX Association’s Executive Committee. This wasn’t just a membership badge; it was a seat at the table shaping the future of what would go on to become the global standard for building automation. Today, KNX is used in over 190 countries and Theben remains deeply involved in its development, from the KNX Technology Committee to pioneering breakthroughs like the first KNX wireless actuators with KNX Data Secure in 2019.
For integrators, that history matters. It means when you work with Theben, you’re working with a team that knows KNX inside out, not just how it works now, but how it’s evolved and where it’s headed next.
A COMPLETE KNX ECOSYSTEM
Theben’s KNX solutions give you the tools to deliver comfort, efficiency, and control - all in one robust ecosystem, whether you’re working on a high-end home, a luxury hotel, a university campus, or a care facility.
Actuators: Our MIX2 actuators remain one of the most space- and cost-efficient solutions in the industry. The modular design means you can triple your channels without tripling your bus devices, and thanks to the swappable bus coupler, you can even retrofit older modules with KNX Data Secure for up-to-date protection against tampering and data theft.
DALI Gateways: With five KNX DALI-2 certified gateways in the line-up, integrating lighting has never been easier. Our gateways
offer group control, colour temperature adjustment, scenes and time-based effects, all with KNX Data Secure for peace of mind.
Sensors & Control: From Meteodata weather stations that track sun position and wind speed, to iON tactile room controllers with Bluetooth and LCD displays, Theben gives integrators stylish, reliable KNX control options that end users love to use.
Detection: Our presence and motion detectors are engineered for precision. With up to 1,000 detection zones, they can sense even the smallest movement and continually measure brightness to optimise lighting levels automatically.
TRAINING THE NEXT GENERATION OF KNX EXPERTS
Theben’s commitment to KNX isn’t limited to product development - it extends to sharing knowledge and raising industry standards.
The launch of Theben Academy UK at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC) marked a new chapter in that mission. From here, we deliver KNX training, CPD sessions, and product workshops designed to give integrators, electricians, and specifiers the skills they need to get the best from KNX.
Courses are run by KNX-certified trainers and cover everything from KNX basics to advanced programming and integration techniques. For newcomers, it’s a gateway into the KNX world with hands-on learning in a supportive environment. For experienced integrators, it’s a place to deepen expertise,
explore new product capabilities and keep up to date with evolving KNX standards, including security protocols like KNX Data Secure and KNX IP Secure.
Our training isn’t just classroom-based. Theben Academy is a hub for peer-to-peer networking, collaboration and problem-solving, helping the KNX community strengthen and grow.
LOOKING AHEAD
KNX continues to grow as the world’s go-to building automation standard and Theben will keep driving that growth, innovating products, refining solutions, and expanding training opportunities.
For integrators, that means a partner who’s not just keeping up, but actively shaping the future of smart buildings.
If KNX is part of your business - or you want it to be - it’s time to talk to Theben.

PMC BRINGS THE STUDIO HOME
‘Bring the studio home’ isn’t just a marketing slogan, it’s far more than that. It is the philosophy that PMC has adhered to ever since the first home audio loudspeaker bearing the PMC name was launched in 1991. It is a philosophy grounded in the belief of PMC’s co-founder, Peter Thomas, that the same speaker can be used throughout the entire audio chain, from composer to studio to mastering and then to the consumer.
For the custom installation sector, specifying the loudspeakers used to make the movies and also replay them in the best home cinemas, is the only way to bring the true soundtrack experience to customers who want nothing but the best.
Founded in the UK in 1990, by Peter Thomas and Adrian Loader, the company’s first commercial sale was to the BBC, which purchased the first pair of BB5 XBD Active monitors for installation at the world-famous Maida Vale Studios. It wasn’t long before Hollywood beckoned and the company’s close involvement with movie making began, when, in 1993, it supplied the then flagship BB5 monitors to Hollywood film score engineer, Shawn Murphy (Academy Award winner for Jurassic Park). Many other notable composers and engineers, including Dennis Sands (The Lion King), James Newton-Howard (The Dark Knight), Bobby Fernandez (X-Men), Henry Jackman (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Thomas Newman (Skyfall-007) have specified PMC for use on the biggest blockbusters.
And, if proof were needed of PMC’s close involvement with the creation of movie soundtracks, it comes in the form of an Emmy Award – presented to PMC in recognition of its contribution to recording excellence.
With the emergence of Dolby Atmos and other immersive audio formats, the world’s leading recording studios such as Capitol in LA,
Dean Street in London, Sony Music’s 5020 complex in Madrid and LP:ME in Dubai have all chosen to upgrade their immersive mixing facilities using PMC speakers. And, in many instances the speakers of choice for these studios are the PMC Ci series.
The Ci series is a range of slimline in-wall and on-wall models that was developed by combining technologies from the company’s acclaimed audiophile Hi-Fi speakers and industry-leading professional studio monitors. They have become the benchmark speakers for Dolby Atmos mixing and are even used by Dolby itself as the surround and height channels in the 9.1.4 configuration Atmos mixing studio at its London office – alongside models from PMC’s professional audio range.
Like all PMC speakers, the six Ci series models feature the company’s proprietary ATL bass loading technology and Laminair air flow control for ultra-low distortion and highresolution playback. Each model is designed with a shallow depth for on-wall mounting and may also be used in-wall. This gives the installer greater mounting flexibility, enabling them to offer a truly audiophile-level experience from a highly discreet system. The ability to specify the same speakers used by the movie makers is the only way to offer customers the experience the director and composer heard when making the soundtrack.
The comprehensive PMC range covers all areas of the audio market – Hi-Fi, studio and custom installation – and includes both passive and active models. All its speakers are voiced identically – in keeping with Peter Thomas’ philosophy – meaning they can be mixed and matched for the ultimate in flexibility and customer preference.
With PMC’s Hollywood connections, there is no other brand of speakers available in the custom installation space that can boast the same movie making credentials as PMC, making them the perfect choice for discerning clients who want to hear exactly what the director heard.

BARCO RESIDENTIAL HEIMDALL: REDEFINING HOME CINEMA EXCELLENCE FOR
PROFESSIONAL INSTALLERS
In the world of professional projection technology, few names carry the weight and recognition of Barco. The company further enhances this with a new key release.
The Barco Heimdall represents the pinnacle of home cinema projection technology, specifically engineered to deliver commercialgrade performance in residential environments. This remarkable projector bridges the gap between professional cinema quality and home entertainment, offering installers a solution that will exceed even the most discerning client expectations.
At the heart of the Heimdall lies an impressive combination of power and refinement. Despite delivering up to 6,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, the projector operates at a whisper-quiet 29dB – quieter than most home air conditioning systems. This achievement in acoustic engineering ensures that the Heimdall can be seamlessly integrated into any home cinema environment without compromising a truly immersive audio experience.
The projector’s compact form factor represents another triumph of engineering excellence. Unlike bulky projectors that require extensive mounting solutions and dedicated equipment rooms, the Heimdall’s sleek design allows for flexible installation options while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of luxury home environments. This compactness doesn’t come at the expense of performance – every cubic inch has been optimised to house cuttingedge technology.
ADVANCED RGB LASER TECHNOLOGY
The Heimdall’s RGB laser light source delivers exceptional colour reproduction, covering an impressive 98% of the Rec. 2020 colour gamut. This wide colour gamut ensures that clients experience colours as the content creators intended, from the subtle skin tones in dramatic films to the vibrant explosions in action sequences. The laser technology also provides
consistent brightness and colour accuracy throughout the projector’s lifespan, eliminating the need for frequent lamp replacements and ensuring years of maintenance-free operation.
Supporting the latest HDMI 2.1 specification, the Heimdall is future-ready for next-generation content formats and gaming applications. This forward-thinking connectivity ensures that installations remain relevant as content delivery standards evolve, protecting both installer reputation and client investments.
NATIVE 4K EXCELLENCE
At the core of the Heimdall’s imaging system lies the latest Texas Instruments native 4K DMD 0.98in chip. This cutting-edge device delivers true 4K resolution without pixel shifting or interpolation, ensuring that every detail from Ultra HD content is reproduced with stunning clarity. The native 4K implementation provides installers with the confidence that their clients are experiencing genuine 4K performance.
The projector’s DynaBlack technology further enhances image quality by delivering contrast ratios of up to 20,000:1. This dynamic contrast system analyses content in real-time, adjusting black levels to provide deeper shadows and more vibrant highlights. The result is an image with exceptional depth and dimensionality that brings content to life in ways that conventional projectors simply cannot match.
THE SCIENCE OF PROPER BRIGHTNESS
One of the most critical aspects of delivering exceptional HDR projection performance lies in achieving the correct brightness levels on screen. Many installers underestimate the importance of proper screen illumination, often prioritising screen size over brightness density. However, for true HDR performance that matches the content creator’s intent, we recommend maintaining 40 foot-lamberts (137 nits) on screen.
This brightness level is crucial for HDR content reproduction, ensuring that highlights sparkle with the intended brilliance while maintaining detail in bright scenes. With the Heimdall’s impressive 6,000 ANSI lumens output, installers can achieve this optimal brightness level on appropriately sized screens, typically ranging from 120 to 170in diagonal depending on screen gain and room conditions.
The relationship between projector brightness, screen size, and screen gain is fundamental to delivering the premium experience that high-end clients expect. By selecting the appropriate screen size for the Heimdall’s output capabilities, installers can guarantee that their clients experience HDR performance that rivals or exceeds commercial cinema standards.
DELIVERING UNPRECEDENTED PERFORMANCE
When properly configured with the right screen size and ambient light control, the Heimdall transforms home cinema experiences in ways that clients often describe as revolutionary. The combination of high brightness, exceptional contrast and accurate colors creates a viewing environment where clients discover details in familiar content they’ve never noticed before. Action sequences become more engaging, dramatic scenes more emotionally impactful and the overall viewing experience transcends typical home entertainment.
For professional installers, the Heimdall is a pathway to delivering installations that generate referrals and build lasting client relationships. By choosing Barco’s Heimdall, installers align themselves with a long legacy of projection excellence while offering their clients performance that will remain impressive for years to come.
In an industry where client satisfaction directly impacts business success, the Heimdall provides installers with the tools needed to deliver experiences that consistently exceed expectations, ensuring both immediate client satisfaction and long-term business growth.

KALEIDESCAPE IS MOVIE MAGIC
Kaleidescape is the ultimate movie platform – the only digital provider of movies with lossless audio and full reference video quality for home and yachts.
Kaleidescape elevates every component of a home theatre or media system. Kaleidescape has agreements with all the major Hollywood studios, providing customers access to thousands of movies, TV series and concerts through its movie store. Kaleidescape has been designing, manufacturing and selling state-of-the-art movie players and servers for over 20 years.
INNOVATION STARTS AT THE TOP
Known for revolutionising the home cinema experience with the introduction of movie players and servers in 2003, Kaleidescape added HD/Blu-ray capability in 2010, launched its digital movie store in 2012 and launched its first 4K players and servers in 2016.
Tayloe Stansbury is Kaleidescape’s chairman and CEO. Having served as technology leader of several Silicon Valley software companies and served on the board of directors of several public and private company boards of directors, Tayloe joined Kaleidescape in 2020 with a clear vision, “You have to look after your customers and deliver meaningful innovation.”
The company’s new leader had personal reasons for wanting to take Kaleidescape to the next level. Tayloe explains, “I became a customer of Kaleidescape in 2011, when an integrator convinced me to have the system installed. I was a little sceptical at first, but like many customers, as soon as I saw the benefit I was hooked.”
However, before Tayloe took over, Kaleidescape had discontinued support for its legacy products and had not released new product in three years. Upon investing in the company and joining, he immediately restored support for the legacy products, much to customers’ relief, and reignited product innovation.
First to come were larger movie server capacities. Then was a new compact movie server, increasing customer engagement and retention three times versus earlier entry products. Then the company released an allnew, faster movie server lineup, including solidstate storage. And then Kaleidescape released an all-new movie player lineup that hit a much lower price point, thereby increasing total available market, while continuing to be scalable to larger systems and while further increasing customer engagement.
Wanting to increase channel engagement and expand geographically, Tayloe hired Priscilla Morgan, first to the board, then as chief operating officer and then as president. Before joining Kaleidescape, Priscilla spent over two decades leading and scaling businesses in the entertainment technology industry, including time at Dolby. She reveals, “At Kaleidescape, I’ve focused on strengthening our go-to-market strategies, deepening partnerships and driving revenue growth with expansion into new territories.”
Priscilla launched Kaleidescape in Australia, added thousands of titles to the UK and Australia movie store and expanded into commercial cinema as an alternative content
delivery platform, bringing library releases back to the big screen … all while driving greater operational efficiency.
NEXT-GENERATION STRATO MOVIE PLAYERS
Over the past year, Kaleidescape has launched three new Strato movie players, Strato V, Strato E and Strato M. These next-generation movie players add Dolby Vision capability and can be used standalone or grouped together with one or more Terra movie servers, to fit a variety of entertainment needs.
All Strato movie players feature lossless multi-channel and spatial object-based audio, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X and provide access to the Kaleidescape movie store, the world’s highest-fidelity movie library.
THE ULTIMATE MOVIE PLATFORM

WHY THE ELECTRIC CAR GRANT IS A SIGNIFICANT OPPORTUNITY FOR INSTALLERS
Lee Sutton, co-founder and chief innovation officer at myenergi, explores the government’s recently announced £650m Electric Car Grant (ECG) and outlines the resulting opportunities for installers.
In July, the Department for Transport (DfT) announced a new grant for electric vehicles (EVs), offering up to £3,750 off the outright purchase price of a new model. With funding confirmed until the end of September 2029, the ECG will apply to a wide range of electric cars priced up to £37,000.
A direct response to the ZEV Mandate consultation, which brought together leading industry voices to identify the biggest hurdles impacting EV adoption, the grant aims to improve the affordability of plug-in vehicles by bringing outright purchase prices more closely in line with petrol and diesel cars.
Alongside the ECG, further funding has also been announced to improve national EV charging infrastructure. Alongside a £63m package to install 100,000 more public chargers in strategic locations, this includes a £25m fund to improve the at-home car charging experience for those without a driveway. While details are yet to be confirmed, this is likely to see cables run under pavements in domestic areas to enable widespread street charging connectivity.
THE OPPORTUNITY FOR INSTALLERS
The ECG provides installers with a significant opportunity. With the UK’s EV transition already driving high demand for home charging solutions, the grant will further accelerate this momentum.
Rather than just a short-term trend, millions of EVs hitting the roads over the next decade mean that almost every home in the UK will need access to the latest charging capability. It’s therefore a workstream that’s here to stay, meaning investing in staff training, knowledge and capability will pay dividends in the future.
With that in mind, installers should act fast to prepare themselves for an uplift in enquiries. Alongside having the technical capability to install and commission smart chargers, an indepth knowledge of the latest and best models – as well as commercial relationships with these brands – is key to providing customers with the best solutions.
At myenergi, we’re known for designing some of the market’s most advanced smart chargers, including the latest addition to our range – zappi GLO.
Featuring eco-smart functionality, including out-of-the-box energy tariff integration and solar compatibility as standard, the screenless, buttonless, single-phase device offers complete charging control. Users have the option to simply plug-and-go, or explore toggle options to adjust settings, set timers, monitor performance and optimise device performance in real-time for greener, cheaper, smarter charging.
GLO has been expertly engineered for rapid installation and simple commissioning. Thanks to myenergi’s Installer Assistant App, installers benefit from a step-by-step solution to optimise fitting speed and guarantee replicability, which streamlines workflow efficiencies and maximises operational productivity.
With the patented myenergi harvi wireless sensor, installers can fit zappi GLO without a
wired CT clamp. This eliminates the need for batteries or external power supplies, further simplifying the installation and reducing clutter.
Unique in the marketplace, zappi GLO is part of myenergi’s home energy management system (HEMS) – an integrated network of eco-smart solutions that collectively offer total control over home energy use, alongside the flexibility to switch to the best smart tariff. Comprising the libbi home battery, eddi power diverter and zappi EV charger suite, HEMS provides installers with an immediate upsell opportunity, enabling customers to access fullyconnected, future-proof smart energy solutions.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
As the UK market for EVs and EV chargers continues to grow, installers have a significant opportunity to keep motorists moving. With a small investment in time and training, you can play a driving role in the zero-emission transition.
For long-term success, partnering with a respected hardware provider is the critical first step. With myenergi, we offer the added benefit of full access to our Installer Centre, which features numerous tools including automatic lead generation. Simply apply for the Product Champion Scheme to be put on the ‘Find an Installer’ map and receive customer enquiries directly to your inbox.

CUSTOMISED SOLUTIONS: JANUS TECHNOLOGY
Janus Technology has been a key provider of solutions for the Smart Home market for over a decade, but there is a lot more to the company than writing drivers. Managing Director Richard Caton explains there are three key complementary elements to the company that deliver considerable reach and advantages for the smart home market.
DRIVER DEVELOPMENT
This is historically how Janus started –developing drivers and modules to integrate products from third-party manufacturers with residential smart home platforms including Control4, Crestron Home, Nice (Elan), RTI, URC and AMX. Working with most of the main brands, Janus quickly established itself as a reliable partner for manufacturers, enabling them to have a single point of contact for the majority of their driver requirements. In recent years this offering has grown to encompass more commercially-oriented platforms such as Q-Sys and Symetrix. Some comments from appreciative clients:
“You guys are top notch – we appreciate it!”
“The driver is one of the best NICE drivers I have seen. It works very well.”
In addition to core driver development, we are actively developing enhancements for the Control4 platform based on the company’s Web App technology. This allows the creation of new user interfaces that are embedded within the Control4 App but extend the platform. For example we have worked closely with AVPro to develop a series of web apps
that provide sophisticated and intuitive control of the brand’s AVoIP and multiviewer products, greatly enhancing the user experience compared to native Control4.
Janus has further developed a range of drivers that we license to installers. This includes:
• BMS Monitor, a complete data logging and visualisation engine for Control4 that won Cedia Best New Software 2023.
• An enhanced scheduler, providing a familiar calendar style interface.
• Visual Navigator, which allows a visual representation of complete house status overlaid on a floorplan or 3D render.
With the emergence of Crestron Home over the last few years, Janus identified this as important in terms of support for dealers and has been actively developing drivers and extensions for this ecosystem.
The overall message from Janus can be summarised as developing solutions that enhance the experience for the client, whilst simplifying the installation. If something can be automatically discovered and configured, then we’ll integrate it into our offerings. Some examples of this are:
• Niko: Control4 integration that pulls the complete site topology of floors and rooms from the Niko project and auto-creates the Control4 project, complete with all lights and thermostats.
• Polar Bear: Crestron Home and Control4 integrations that discover all the devices and auto-install, saving many hours of timeconsuming and error-prone configuration.
Janus works across the entire smart home spectrum
Developing drivers and smart home code is still a core deliverable
BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Ten years ago, a request from a dealer to develop a driver to integrate a commercial BMS system into Control4 exposed Janus to the world of BMS. This is an area that has become Critical to integrate with the smart home and yet one that is poorly understood. Janus quickly found a niche understanding the complete BMS system, from plant room controls, through API interfaces with the Smart Home, to expressing the BMS strategy in a form that is understandable and intuitive to the end client, giving them the features they need, but hiding the complexity they don’t care about. This knowledge and experience has enabled Janus to develop a range of solutions for building control, including smart home drivers, such as:
• Polar Bear: arguably the most beautiful and elegant thermostat for the luxury market, with our integration for Control4 and Crestron Home providing incredibly simple setup (auto configuration) and advanced features.
• North: our gateway solution, enabling integration of any BMS system into Control4 and Crestron Home, or creation of a complete BMS system itself.
• Heatmiser / Coolmaster combo driver: allowing the Smart Home to integrate several systems into a simple unified control, with enhanced features over and above those provided by basic drivers.
Driver development expanded into BMS system design. We are now working with a number of dealers to provide a complete service for BMS system design, installation and commissioning. Whether it’s just design, consulting or complete supply, we’re able to leverage our expertise to ensure that the design actually reflects what the client requires, rather than simply copying a potentially flawed M&E specification. Our expertise from many years of installs make us an invaluable asset to projects, ensuring any issues are caught early in the design cycle.
This design process obviously leverages our smart home driver experience, enabling us to provide solutions that others can’t. For example there have been several instances recently where a system has been installed and certain cables have been omitted from the design, or have been faulty, and rather than costly intrusive works on an almost finished property, we’ve been able to provide a neater solution by adding new capabilities to our driver – something that no-one else can do.
Our expertise also extends into plant room design. BMS plant rooms can be simple (just a boiler demand) or complex. We have just completed a project that has three heat pumps with bore hole extraction, where the bore hole valve had to be modulated based on demand to stop it freezing up. This was achieved
with North running the BMS and our drivers providing a deep integration with Polar Bear, allowing intuitive status and alarm notification on Crestron Home Tiles.
Getting visibility of what the system is doing and visualising a history is something that we stress the importance of and try to design into all our solutions. The cost of some additional sensors for monitoring temperatures is outweighed by the added value when trying to diagnose problems. In a recent case, a Control4 installer was in the firing line for a heating system not working – as they provide the front end interface, they always get the initial call. This was a double height room with the gable end being all glass. During cold weather the room never reached its target temperature. With our diagnostics, we could clearly show that the heating was running as hard as it could – only modulating to protect the floor covering – so clearly it was a problem with design or construction and not the controls. Without hard data makes it possible to diagnose such problems quickly and clearly.
BESPOKE DEVELOPMENT
Janus has a team of talented, multi-skilled developers, allowing us to do much more than just driver development. Over the years we’ve been involved in a number of projects ranging from embedded devices to cloud services and iOS / Android app development.
The biggest project we’ve worked on over the last year is the creation of the AVPro Stile App. This is a standalone app for control of the company’s MV41 multiview tiler, together with integrated source control. Developed using the React Native framework, this runs on iOS and Android phones and tablets, giving the user an out-of-the box control experience without needing a control system. Additionally Janus has developed complementary cloud services to support realtime source control updates (without needing an App update) and simple configuration transfer between devices using QR codes.
Other examples of recent projects include:
• Voice services for a multi-room audio system: We were responsible for the complete stack, covering embedded Linux device firmware, AWS integration and Alexa skills.
• Rationalisation and expansion of a LoRa product set: GJD got us involved to assist with the development of the company’s LoRa system – an innovative low power and long range wireless network that allows sensors to be deployed remotely up to several km distance, and with long battery life. With our experience of software build processes and continuous integration we helped automate the build of the complete release package and incremental updates, in addition to developing integrations for third-party manufacturers into the GJD LoRa ecosystem.
We are excited about the future and the opportunities to develop custom solutions for clients, leveraging the breadth of skills within Janus, from drivers and embedded software to system-level solutions that encompass app development and cloud services.
Our team is available to discuss any future projects you may have in mind or to assist with problems on existing ones, whether they are technical or resource-based. The team at Janus combines strong engineering backgrounds with many years of experience, which enables us to clearly understand things from the end consumer’s point of view.” Products aren’t successful just because of technical excellence; they must also meet the needs and desires of the end user.

The company’s complimentary Design & Specification Service supports project planning and presentation and is well-used by integrators to help in this area.
“Our Design & Specification service is all about adding value for our dealers,” says Barry Sheldrick, Director of Sales at DbM. “It makes it quicker and easier for integrators to specify the right products for the installation, freeing up valuable time so they can concentrate on other aspects of an installation.”
The Design & Specification Service provides integrators with a customised, expertly designed, and integrated AV solution. Design packs are time efficient and are a great way to increase the overall sale value of the project whilst also increasing conversion rates. DbM provides three exceptional design proposals; Standard, Performance and Reference. Each proposal has a separate client budget in mind, whilst still providing an exceptional audio experience.
The service details the room layout and AV equipment positions, including seating positions, industry guidelines for speaker layouts, product install details, viewing angles, screen brightness, sound-pressure levels, wiring diagrams, rack layouts. To begin the proposal process, dealers simply need to provide DbM with a plan of the room and email it to dbmsales@distributedbym.co.uk. DbM will provide co-branded drawings of the proposed system layout and an associated wiring diagram as pdf files at no cost.
KEY REASONS FOR USING THE DESIGN & SPECIFICATION SERVICE
• Expertise and Support: DbM has extensive experience and expertise in designing highperformance home cinemas. We’ve helped to deliver hundreds of projects so far. By working with the team, integrators can tap into this knowledge and experience, receiving support throughout the design, installation

The three design options aid the conversion ratio along with boosting the system value in an easy-to-explain way. This customisation ensures that the system delivers the best possible performance for the intended application.
• Efficiency and Time Savings: By working with us, integrators can streamline the design and installation process, saving time and money. Using DbM dedicated experts in AV system design and integration means that the entire process can be completed more efficiently, ensuring performance on each project.
COMMENTS FROM CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE USED THE DESIGN & SPECIFICATION SERVICE
Anthony Gallon, Clever Association
“We’ve used the Design & Specification Service on a number of occasions, it’s been great to know that we have the backing of their team whenever we need it. Whether that’s simply because we’re up against it timewise, for a simple sanity-check or for more involved design assistance for projects that are a little ‘off-piste’. One example being a cinema that we installed in Cannes where we were planning to use multiple Meridian speakers behind the screen surface, in three High Power Array ‘stacks’ for the left, centre and right channels. It was great to be
able to lean on the DbM team who assisted with predicted SPL calculations, layout advice and also guidance on reducing the risks of comb filtering in such a setup. Without doubt, the care and attention put into those designs long before any installation works had started on-site, were the key to creating a fantastic sounding room.”
Liam McLaughlin, Progressive Home Technology
“We have an existing client in Hastings who is a big Meridian fan. We recently upgraded some DSP7200SE to DSP8000XE loudspeakers in his living room, putting the DSP7200SE into the surround position. So when we started his BIG cinema, we headed straight back to Meridian, but this time with their DbM hat on. We leaned on their Design & Specification Service heavily to help mount a Barco threechip projector vertically in a booth behind the
back wall, and point it through a porthole via a mirror, onto a 4.5m wide screen. The team was also invaluable in providing detailed elevations and ceiling plans for the comprehensive acoustic application that went in. I am back soon to put the final touches to the projection setup and calibrate the 9.1.6 audio system. I can’t wait to see (and hear) the end result.”
Daniel Lee, Max Media
“We worked closely with the DbM team from day one. From Chris, who provided us with a thorough design document to present to the client, to Barry, who was just a phone call away and always willing to help answer any questions, and came on site to help us set up the Trinnov –the team is one of the best in the industry.”

KEEPING UP WITH THE JONES
Keith Jones, smart home industry veteran, experienced installer and creator of designflow, answers our questions on his career to date and plans for the future.
What first attracted you to the AV and smart home industry back in 1995?
Music! I still remember sneaking into my brother’s room in my early teens to play records on his Thorens TD165! I moved to London in 1992, to study product design at Central St. Martins and once my course finished in ‘94 I was looking for part time work. I took a job in a bar in Clapham and shortly after starting there, a new Hi-Fi shop opened on my walking route to work. I took a job in there and shortly afterwards was offered a management role in another Hi-Fi shop in the city. The natural progression from here was to start my own business as a custom installer in 2001. Having started out in the twochannel world and making the transition to the smart home industry, one important observation I have made is, smart home installers can learn a lot from the long term client, and upgrade mentality is the lifeblood of Hi-Fi stores.
How has your background in product design shaped the way you approach installation projects and documentation?
My training in product design and before that technical graphics at school has had a massive
impact on my approach to installation projects. Product design teaches you to use your creativity in different ways. At its core it’s about identifying and solving problems in a creative way, which is quite similar to installation projects. In an installation project you get a brief from the client and have to put forward a design to solve all the client’s requirements, which is very similar to product design. Once you have a concept the client is happy with you need to detail how that design will be implemented. Again, there are lots of parallels here with product design and documenting projects.
What lessons did you learn from scaling your first installation company?
That would be an enormous list! I think the key ones were: To have someone skilled in creating project designs and documentation on hand to properly support the sales people and project managers within a smart home business.
Don’t run and hide once a job is complete, keep the lines of communication open with the client long after project completion, as this then gives them a much better opportunity to refer you to their friends, family, colleagues and neighbours. My recent book Project Profit Playbook is all about getting more referrals
and our IPS service was created to show-off installer’s completed projects.
Why do you believe detailed design and documentation are still undervalued?
That’s a tough one! I believe that as there still isn’t really a formal education route into the smart home industry, it falls to the individuals who set up and run smart home companies to decide what, if any, education they and their team need. Some people have an innate understanding of the importance of design and documentation

perhaps due to their backgrounds. Others have a much more ‘gung ho’ approach and give very little importance to design and documentation. My belief is simply that without proper design and documentation, the job of the smart home installer is much harder than it needs to be.
Can you explain how designflow and designflow lighting help installers deliver better projects?
That is a much easier answer; designflow lighting helps installers access the lighting design element of a project, meaning it’s a whole new budget for design and light fittings! designflow is there to help installers with the documentation of the smart home elements of a project. Both these services help installers deliver better projects through thorough documentation and more attention to design details, making for more successful and sustainable projects.
What inspired the creation of the IPS platform, and how do you see it changing the way installers present their work?
IPS was inspired by the creation of a virtual tour of our stand at ISE last year where we had our ever popular coffee table project books. Seeing
these two things together highlighted the need to combine the contents of our books with the virtual tour to create a new way to showcase installers’ completed projects.
I think in terms of changing the way installers present their work, IPS is a total game-changer. Instead of still pictures that look like they belong on an interior designers website with a description of the project and maybe a short video walk through, IPS showsoff completed projects in an interactive 3D environment – ideal for showing all the hidden technology and work that goes into a smart home project.
You’ve just released your first book, Project Profit Playbook — what’s the core idea?
How to build a well-oiled referral network that allows people to scale their businesses to the next level and beyond without adding sales people or incurring additional costs.
With 10 more books planned, what topics are you most excited to explore, and why?
Lighting design for installers, as I believe this is a huge untapped market just waiting for installers to exploit. Also, design methodologies for AV/IT documentation, as a follow on from my CEDIA course of the same name that I have been instructing over the last three years or so.
As an experienced trainer, what do you think is the biggest knowledge gap in the industry right now?
Another tough question! Surprisingly I would say probably real-world business guidance and specialist mentorship, rather than anything to do with design or documentation. Perhaps that should be another of my 10 and counting books: How to set up and run a successful smart home installation business, having done this myself in the early noughties.
What’s the story behind your partnership with Adam Kraemer-Dent and the launch of designflow lighting?
I first met Adam at ISE in May 2022. He was working as a salesman for a UK integration company and he told me I had his dream job! At that time there were no openings at designflow and Adam wasn’t quite ready to leave his position either.
When my previous business partner decided to leave the business in May 2023, the opportunity opened up for Adam to join designflow.
Adam had worked for a well known lighting design company previously and brought these skills to the integration company he was working for, adding 35% to their bottom line.
This made the opportunity to launch a very well-aligned lighting design service – in parallel to our existing AV/IT design documentation service to help installers access lighting design within their existing projects – a total no-brainer.
You’re working on a new lighting software platform — what problems are you hoping this will solve for installers?
Initially our new lighting design software platform was conceived for internal use. Currently our lighting design process is very manual and this is solely down to the fact that there is no integrated lighting design software available that meets our needs.
With our new expanded plans to roll this out as our first commercially available software product, we are looking to solve the same problems we are having in-house with our manual lighting design process for installers and other lighting designers.
Looking ahead, what do you hope your legacy will be?
I hope my legacy in this space will be to help everyone involved see and understand the importance of proper design and documentation for successful and sustainable projects. Be that for lighting design, AV/IT documentation or just showing-off what great design documents look like!
What are your interests away from work?
Travelling and exploring, walking/hiking, cycling, music, reading, a good laugh with friends and good food and nice wine.
What music or movies that you have seen recently can you recommend?
I went to the BBC proms, it was the first time for me and a great experience. I think everyone should try this at least once and the gallery tickets are only £8!
I watched The Hippopotamus at the weekend – a comedy from a Stephen Fry novel which is definitely worth a go.

WOW!HOUSE’S FIRST MEDIA ROOM
CEDIA understands the importance of the smart home industry collaborating closely with design-build professionals. It’s a key focus for the association, which has seen great traction through the industry relations advisory committee, the CPD programme, events, and crossindustry partnerships. Earlier this year, CEDIA member Nucleus provided a great showcase of integrators working with interior designers.
When technology and interior design unite with a shared vision, the results can be spectacular. This was on full display at WOW!house 2025, the annual showhouse at London’s Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. This fantastic showcase, which is situated within the Design Avenue, features 22 full-sized rooms and outdoor spaces, all created by world-class interior designers. For the very first time, a dedicated media room was part of the home—an immersive and high-performance space where design and integration were indistinguishable. The room was designed by interior designer, Alex Dauley Designs and technology integrated by CEDIA member, Nucleus AV. This collaboration demonstrates how integrators and designers can work together to create spaces that balance the demands of modern technology with a strong design vision.
THE VISION: A SENSORY SPACE THOUGHTFULLY INTEGRATED
For Alex Dauley, the brief offered creative freedom rarely found in client-led projects. With fewer commercial constraints, she was able to focus on crafting an interior that delivered both atmosphere and experience. Achieving that vision, however, meant finding the right team to support a carefully balanced mix of design and technology.
“Interior design is all about a sensory experience, and obviously sound is a huge
part of that, as is lighting, scent and more,” Alex explained. “But the beautiful thing is that the interior design intent has not been lost to accommodate the technology, and vice versa.” Working with Durgesh Sinh and the team at Nucleus AV, Alex created a media room where Dolby Atmos sound, Lutron lighting and AV components are integrated discreetly into bespoke joinery and tailored finishes. The result is a space that delivers on performance without compromising the design. “It doesn’t feel techheavy. Everything’s been hidden beautifully and seamlessly within the space,” Alex said.
BUILDING THE ROOM TWICE: OFF-SITE PRECISION, ON-SITE LUXURY
Given the complexity of the build, including intricate AV infrastructure, custom cabinetry, and high-spec materials, the team decided early to build the room off-site first.
The off-site prototype proved invaluable. It allowed both design and tech teams to test fit every component, from the speaker boxes and subwoofer locations to the luxury wall finishes and hidden picture lift with bar access.
“We didn’t want it to be smoke and mirrors,” said Durgesh. “We wanted to deliver it like we would for a real client. And that meant full reference-level audio, genuine integration and all the performance we promise in live projects.”
The final in-situ install was a feat of coordination, involving late-night sessions, intricate fabric wrapping, and working within the health and safety constraints of the showhouse infrastructure. Despite the tight five-day onsite schedule, Nucleus AV delivered a fully functional room that stayed faithful to the original concept sketch.
“We haven’t changed Alex’s sketch,” added Durgesh. “We’ve implemented full Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 with a 77-inch TV, and it looks like her original drawing.”
THE RIPPLE EFFECT
As word spread about the media room, other WOW!house designers began approaching Nucleus for support with their own spaces, leading to involvement in three additional rooms.
Staffan Tollgard, founder of Tollgard Studio, invited Nucleus to collaborate on his study room, which followed a ‘functional beauty’ concept. Rather than concealing technology, Bang & Olufsen speakers and TVs were chosen for their sculptural appeal and placed on display. Lighting control was integrated into Nucleus’ wider Lutron HomeWorks system.
The team was then asked to assist with interior design firm, 1508 London, with their bathroom space, providing lighting control connected through the same interface.
The final and most technically-demanding addition was the garden, designed by landscape architect Randle Siddeley. Here, Nucleus installed an 8.1 Paradigm Oasis audio system and three Sony 85in screens, running fibre and DALI cabling across a 100-metre distance.
Each of these spaces was brought together under a single control system, demonstrating the potential of integrated technology in complex, multi-zone environments.
SHARED SUCCESS
Perhaps the most important takeaway from WOW!house 2025 was not what was built, but how.
“Durgesh and his team are one in a million,” Alex reflected. “This project is testament to the fact that you must have great relationships with people. You must work with like-minded people that are equally as ambitious and equally as detailed.”
This mutual respect extended beyond design and installation. With thousands of visitors walking through the space, Nucleus was able to show how integrated technology can support and enhance thoughtful design. “It’s powerful to physically show designers the lengths you can go to. You don’t have to compromise technology or aesthetic, you can have both,” Durgesh explained.
WOW!house 2025 is a showcase of what’s possible when integrators and designers work as collaborators. It proves that performance and beauty can, and should, complement each other. When it’s done right, design elevates the technology and the home to a whole new level.

FULL FUNCTION CONTROL
Nestled on the outskirts of Edinburgh, a 15-year-old residential property underwent a comprehensive smart home renovation. The project, spanning over three and a half years, involved the seamless integration of several ADI | Snap One products, including Control4, Wattbox and Araknis. The project highlights the technical prowess and collaborative efforts of Function Control Ltd that brought the client’s vision to life.
that it already had a KNX infrastructure in place. As someone who is very technical-minded, with a keen interest in smart home technology, he was clear in his brief to Function Control Ltd.
Once the layout was set, the primary objective for the technology was to update and enhance the existing KNX infrastructure while incorporating advanced smart home features. Focussing initially on KNX, Function Control Ltd reused some of the existing KNX equipment. Aluminium Berker KNX switches, still in excellent working condition, were cleaned, tested, resprayed and laser-engraved, significantly reducing costs. Where reuse wasn’t feasible, Gira Pushbutton 4 switches were installed to provide additional functionality. EI takes a trip around this whole home project that delivers seamless integration of
The property, although relatively modern, boasted a unique, castle-like design with turrets and an expansive layout. One of the main reasons for the client purchasing this home is
Initially, the project was a light renovation, but it quickly evolved into a significant overhaul due to unforeseen structural issues. A large proportion of the electrical and plumbing had to be stripped and replaced, and the layout of the property changed – with bedrooms turning into bathrooms and vica versa. This is what set the renovation work back and contributed to it being a lengthy project for Function Control Ltd.
SMART HOME
For the layer of smart home integration, Function Control Ltd specified a Control4 CA-10 Hub and Automation Controller as the primary hub to provide the muscle for the project. It manages lighting and heating control, AV system integration, door entry, garage door control and ventilation control. A key reason for Function Control in picking Control4 is that it provided the capability for the client to
make personal adjustments to the customisation as desired.
One of the features that the client particularly appreciated was the detailed temperature monitoring, displaying data through graphs that indicated room temperatures in relation to set points. This not only allowed the client to ensure that the heating system was functioning efficiently, but it also provided reassurance that the home was being heated according to their preferences. For instance, in the large
kitchen area with underfloor heating, there was a concern about potential overheating. To address this, the system is set to cut off the heating if it detects that the floors are getting too hot, thereby preventing any damage to the wooden floors. This level of monitoring was also beneficial for the integrators, as it facilitated fault-finding in case of any issues with the heating or hot water systems. The data provided by the system helped in diagnosing and resolving problems quickly and efficiently.
A Control4 CORE 1 Controller and Halo Touch Remote were installed in the media room. Designed to fit discreetly behind any television, CORE 1 enables entertainment and intelligent automation experiences in media room settings. Installed in this property, it delivers a beautiful, intuitive and responsive 4K on-screen user interface with the ability to create and enhance the entertainment experience. The Halo handheld device includes end-user install capabilities that the client appreciates.
Mark Hardie from Function Control Ltd comments, “I’ve worked with Control4 since 2007 and KNX for the last 10 years. These two brands work extremely well together, and because of the visual programming software, they are easy to programme. We also find that our customers like the Control4 GUI and find it easy to navigate. It’s always a good choice when you’ve got AV as well control on a project.”
NETWORK CONTROL
To ensure robust and reliable connectivity, Araknis networking solutions were employed. These included the Araknis 310 Router, 310 16 Port POE Switch, 48 Port Switch and 210 16 Port POE Switch. Additionally, 12-way and 2-way Wattbox Power Controllers were integrated to manage power distribution efficiently.
The heating system employed Theben underfloor heating controls, covering 30 heating zones, with meticulous monitoring of hot water and floor temperatures through Zennio devices. The integration of Sonos audio systems, Artcoustic and Anthem surround sound, SkyQ, and other multimedia components was all managed through Control4.
The media room is a particular highlight of the project: Function Control Ltd created a versatile AV space at the heart of the home. Using Artcoustic speakers as the backbone, the room offers a Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 system that ticks every box for movie lovers, motorsport fans and gamers alike.
With the Artcoustic SL Multi Soundbar XL, Evolve 3-1 surrounds, and SL Architect in-ceiling height channels, the space delivers cinematic sound that fills the room — without taking over visually and in fact complementing the interior ambition for the space. The SUB2 makes sure the system offers high-performance bass across different use case scenarios, while custom-matched finishes ensure everything looks just as good as it sounds.
The client, highly technical and ddetailorientated, was thrilled with the results. The project not only met but exceeded expectations, providing a highly efficient and customisable smart home environment. The reuse of existing
KNX kit, paired with the flexibility of Control4, demonstrated the adaptability and costeffectiveness of ADI | Snap One solutions.
On completion, the end user commented, “Thanks to Function Control, we’re absolutely thrilled with how the integration of KNX and Control4 has transformed our house into a truly intelligent home. After going through such a major renovation, it’s been a real step change to have a system that not only works reliably but also feels genuinely intuitive to use day to day. We have particularly appreciated how seamlessly everything has been brought together – from lighting, underfloor heating and window coverings to AV and security.
“The level of automation and control we now have, whether via touch panels, handheld remotes or even our phones, makes living in the house effortless. We especially value the in-depth temperature and system monitoring – being able to see exactly how each room is behaving gives us peace of mind and helps us run the house efficiently. Function Control has been an incredible partner throughout – deeply knowledgeable, responsive and thoughtful in every decision. We felt in very safe hands, and the results speak for themselves.”

Artcoustic has announced two new additions to its subwoofer line-up: the Sub 2-12 and Sub 3-12, which the company says represent a new era in low-frequency engineering.
Both models feature the newly-developed premium 12-inch Artc12i-19mm driver, which is purpose-built for powerful, low-distortion performance with exceptional clarity and control across the low-frequency spectrum. The driver offers 19mm of linear travel, a robust motor structure, extended voice coil for improved heat handling and the ability to handle up to 700W
peak input. Artcoustic says the result is studiograde bass performance suited to demanding residential and professional installations.
Kim Donvig, Designer and Engineer at Artcoustic, says, “With the new 6th-order bandpass subwoofers, my focus is to achieve something that’s normally a contradiction: extremely high output from a compact, discreet design. The dual-chamber, tuned-port system allows me to extract maximum efficiency, meaning these subs play louder and hit harder from the same amplifier power. At the same
time, the form factor has been kept deliberately small and clean, making placement effortless and integration almost invisible. For me, that balance of power, precision and discretion is the real achievement — bass you can feel everywhere, without the box ever dominating the room.”
The Sub 2-12 is designed as a compact yet powerful solution, pairing the new Artc12i19mm driver with a 6th-order bandpass design. The company says this delivers greater SPL from the same amplifier power, reduced distortion and clean, tight bass that is well suited to media rooms, high-end residential spaces and professional audio environments.
For larger rooms, the Sub 3-12 introduces two Artc12i-19mm drivers in a bigger cabinet, delivering deeper extension down to 25Hz and higher SPL capability.
Artcoustic says the performance is equivalent to much larger vented enclosures but in a more compact footprint, making it an option for private cinemas, large studios and commercial AV projects.

AJAX SPRINGS INTO ACTION!
Ajax has expanded its video surveillance range with three new hybrid illumination cameras designed to improve image quality and object recognition in low-light conditions. The new models — BulletCam HL, TurretCam HL, and DomeCam Mini HL — combine infrared (IR) and white light illumination to deliver colour footage even at night.
According to the company, switching from IR to white light when motion or objects are detected allows the cameras to capture details such as vehicle features and clothing colours that might otherwise be missed. The white light also acts as a visual deterrent for intruders. BulletCam HL and TurretCam HL offer up to 50m of illumination, while the compact DomeCam Mini HL covers up to 15m.
The cameras offer three operating modes: white light always on in low-light conditions, completely disabled, or activated only when motion is detected. In the latter mode, the light stays on for 30 seconds after motion detection and remains active if movement continues.
Ajax says the new line-up provides a choice of 5MP CMOS sensors with 3K resolution or 8MP sensors with 4K resolution, each available with either a 2.8mm or 4mm fixed lens. The 2.8mm lens offers a 100°–110° viewing angle for wide coverage, while the 4mm lens
