‘MASTERPIECE’ DSP9 STATEMENT

Meridian Audio has unveiled the DSP9 Digital Active Loudspeaker, which it says is a masterpiece of product design and audio engineering, technology and performance. The loudspeaker features a new cabinet aesthetic that showcases a fresh design signature and produces the fidelity, dynamics and power needed for cinemas and listening rooms.

The DSP9 is the second loudspeaker to emerge from Meridian’s Extreme Engineering Programme; a result of years of investment in technology innovations at the extreme edge of audio design. Built around Meridian’s continued research and expertise in producing authentic, natural and lifelike sound, this programme delivers a level of performance never previously achievable from a loudspeaker of these proportions.

The DSP9 introduces a new look for Meridian loudspeakers. The company has pushed the boundaries of cabinet design and construction with this product, using the geometry of the ellipse to create a visually stunning aesthetic from every angle that also offers acoustic benefits.

“The DSP9 loudspeaker is undeniably Meridian,” comments Natalie Reynolds, Product Manager at Meridian. “It is a powerhouse of performance that delivers goosebump moments thanks to incredible dynamics, full frequency response and massive power handling. It is also aesthetically stunning, introducing a brand-new iconic design – the beauty is in its simplicity.”

The DSP9 features all of the pioneering UK company’s latest engineering developments to deliver impresive power and performance, including Atlas software core, precision sonic transport, R1 electronics platform, next generation drive units and force-balanced bass configuration.

With Meridian’s abilities in psychoacoustics and experience in digital signal processing, the DSP9 boasts a suite of Meridian proprietary technologies, including Digital Precision, Q-Sync, True Link, True Time, E3 Bass, Image Focus +, Pro-Active Bass, Pro-active Thermal, FFA, Free-Q, Perfect Balance and BSM.

The DSP9 offers easy setup and control via the Meridian B-Link Bluetooth device, IR, USB, RS232, or with a Meridian Controller product. An IA21 analogue input module changes the functionality of the DSP9 so it can be fed from any

BUILDING MONITOR AUDIO’S HYPHN

Monitor Audio Group has introduced Hyphn, its flagship loudspeaker showcasing the company’s design, engineering, and manufacturing prowess. Hyphn represents the culmination of 50 years of experience and sets the stage for Monitor Audio’s future ambitions. Rob Barford, CEO of Monitor Audio Group, emphasised the creative freedom afforded by being an independent business and the company’s dedication to pushing boundaries. The result is Hyphn, a ground-breaking loudspeaker that combines creativity, technical advancements and power.

Hyphn, a production version of the Concept 50 prototype released in 2022, represents the collective expertise of the Monitor Audio team. It boasts a radical design, technical innovations and impressive performance, offering what is described as an unparalleled listening experience. At the core of Hyphn lies the ‘M-Array,’ a unique configuration developed by Monitor Audio’s engineers. The M-Array non-Meridian product or system which features a balanced or unbalanced line-level analogue output. consists of a single high-frequency transducer surrounded by six 2in midrange drivers, created to deliver strong soundstage clarity and precise audio localisation.

Hyphn incorporates the third-generation Micro Pleated Diaphragm III (MPD III) for the high-frequency transducer, providing larger, clearer, and more consistent sound. Monitor Audio’s Rigid Diaphragm Technology III (RDT III) cones equip the six midrange drivers, ensuring enhanced clarity. The M-Array resides between two pillars, each housing a pair of powerful 8in bass drivers in a force-cancelling configuration created to minimise vibrations and distortion.

The loudspeaker’s engineering aims for enhanced bass control, response, and dynamics, as well as precise performance across the frequency spectrum. Hyphn stands as Monitor Audio’s most powerful loudspeaker to date. Constructed with thermoformed, precision-milled mineral and acrylic stone, the cabinet achieves a rigid structure with minimal vibration and distortion. It comes in three luxury finishes: Pure Satin White, Matte Black and Matte Heritage Green.
