Modern twist
Among the latest developments in the wiring accessories range is the expansion of the Metal Clad range to introduce Metal Clad Pro – a robust new range of premium, durable wiring accessories that combine a modern aesthetic with Click’s latest innovations to offer a stylish, long-lasting performance for any environment.
Designed with a contemporary, curved profile, with matching surface boxes, the Metal Clad Pro range comprises switches, socket outlets, modular plates and fused connection units, as well as surface and blank boxes. The entire range is available in three striking finishes – ‘Metal Clad Grey’, ‘Polar White’ and ‘Matt Black’.
Sitting alongside the existing Metal Clad product portfolio, Metal Clad Pro provides installers and designers with a more modern wiring accessories solution. The modular construction allows for easy modifications and custom switching solutions, ensuring total flexibility on-site. The products are packed with features that incorporate Click’s most recent product improvements as standard to create a new, premium surface mountable range. These include:
• Contemporary curved profile with matching back box profile –achieves a neat and precise fit for an unobtrusive aesthetic and to eliminate uneven surfaces.
• LED indicator – a brighter, more modern method of indication, replacing traditional neon indicators and located on the rocker switch.
• Ingot-style socket pins – all Metal Clad Pro socket outlets (round pin excluded) will contain the new ‘Ingot’ style socket pins as opposed to the traditional T-shaped versions.
• New insert shapes – FCUs and 20A switches now feature a stylish, modern insert shape that reduces the amount of exposed white plastic around the inserts.
• 3-pin safety shutters – ensures that all three socket outlet pins are engaged correctly before the shutters open, providing added protection.
• Customisable configurations –compatible with Click’s MiniGrid range, allowing flexible module interchanges.
Power to the USB
With the proliferation of smartphones, tablets and other USB-powered devices, the need for USB-integrated wall sockets continues to grow. These sockets eliminate the need for bulky adapters, offering convenience and enhanced functionality. A quick and easy way to free up socket space is to install a Click Scolmore Type A and C USB integrated socket. They feature integrated high-speed USB ports with a 2.1A output, allowing fast and reliable charging for various devices.
Safety features like built-in shutters ensure top-level protection, whilst the energy-efficient smart technology prevents overcharging. Safety matters
As electrical safety regulations become more stringent, contractors must prioritise high-quality, safety-enhanced accessories. Tamper-resistant outlets, surge-protected power strips, and childproof socket covers are essential
features that enhance safety in homes and workplaces. The latest addition to Click Scolmore’s wiring accessories collection is a range of unswitched safety shutter sockets. This new range comprises 1-gang and 2-gang unswitched socket outlets, with integrated 3-pin safety shutters as standard. They have been added to the Mode and Part M collections, as well as to the most popular finishes in the Deco and Deco Plus ranges – satin chrome and stainless steel. The 3-pin safety shutter is a feature that prevents foreign objects from being inserted into live contacts, which brings a crucial layer of protection.
Enhancing aesthetics
The demand for Matt Black wiring accessories has been on the rise in recent years, as installers and end users look for an alternative premium finish for interiors. Scolmore has taken this feedback on board and has extended the popular Matt Black finish to its Deco and Deco Plus wiring accessories collections. Adding the perfect contemporary look to any interior space, the Matt Black finishes are available across all products in the extensive Deco metal and Deco Plus premium metal ranges.

Earlier this year saw the introduction of three new ranges – Type A and C GridPro Modules, Illuminated Locator Gaskets, and New Media Combination Plates.

The New Media Combination Plates offer space for up to four 25 x 50mm Euro Modules, providing a versatile solution for satellite TV, DAB, telecoms and networking. Compatible with a wide range of modular inserts, they are available in Mode, Deco, Deco Plus and Definity ranges, each offering stylish designs and flexibility. Featuring 2-gang 3-pin safety shutter outlets for added protection, the plates are available with or without integrated USB ports (Type A and C) for charging devices like phones and tablets.
High-speed connectivity
New CAT-6A modules have just been added to the company’s New Media range, delivering high-speed data connectivity for today’s increasingly demanding media and network installations. These CAT-6A modules are engineered for ultra-fast performance, supporting data speeds of up to 10Gbps over cable lengths of up to 100m. With a high-frequency operation at 500MHz, they are designed to ensure dependable, high-speed data transfer, even across extended distances.

Modularity
Modular wiring accessories allow users to customise switch and socket configurations based on their specific needs. These adaptable solutions are particularly popular in commercial and industrial settings where flexibility is crucial. The concept of modular wiring accessories isn’t a new one, however. Interchangeable cover plates and interchangeable switch modules have been available for years. What has changed is the development of technology and the desire by homeowners to have more ability to control the lighting and other electrical accessories. Modular wiring’s flexibility means that there is no minimum project size. From single room solutions to the largest multi-million pound new-build hospitals, systems can be either retrofitted or newly installed to provide users with safe, reliable and convenient power and lighting services.

NIGLON’S STORY OF CONTINUAL DEVELOPMENT
Niglon’s wiring accessories range is a story of continual development and improvement. Here’s a comprehensive round-up of the many innovations the company has available.
When you think of Niglon, a fourth-generation family owned and run firm with purpose-built headquarters in the Midlands, it may be items such as plug-top fuses and connector strips which come to mind.
However, the company now has an extensive array of over 4,500 products across nine core categories – an incredible offering. The product range encompasses: circuit protection, wiring accessories, installation essentials, cable management, control and automation, industrial accessories, earthing, lighting control, and fixings and tools.
Niglon started selling wiring accessories over 20 years ago but really advanced the offering from 2017
onwards, when the team launched seven new ranges inside of two years. This necessitated significant investment in systems and development tooling. Changes and additions continue to be made year to year, and there are now more than 1,000 products across 10 ranges to choose from.
Over the last few years, particular focus has been given to refining and expanding the company’s range of wiring accessory products. In a fiercely competitive market, continual product development and evolution within this category is deemed essential to ensure the company remains ahead of the curve.
In focus: Weatherproof and Niglon’s new ‘Hurricane’ range
This summer sees the launch of Niglon’s new and improved weatherproof wiring accessory range.
A compact range suitable for all day-to-day applications, the sleek and understated black colouring of the products aids their camouflage outside in the garden. Importantly, the products carry an IP66 rating so are suitable for use outdoors and in garages next to pressure washers etc.
The twin socket and fused spurs both come with blue neon indicators and a frosted front cover which allows the user to discern whether the outlet is on without having to open the lid and inspect.
Other neat features of the range are the compression-fit knockouts and the fact that the twin sockets are BSI Kitemarked to BS 1363, which may give some consumers greater confidence about the product quality.
In focus: Decorative wiring accessories – Premium Edge S: A real advancement
Recent activity has seen the relaunch of the Premium Edge S brand, with the addition in 2024 of matt black and antique brass plate finishes. These now sit in addition to the brushed and polished chrome options already available, and act as the company’s prime screwed-plate offering.
Features of this range include metal to metal rockers to reduce SKUs, LED indicators, modular switches, and a
fixed edging gasket. The latter feature is particularly ingenious as it prevents wet plaster from soiling the stainless faceplate, and aids on the installation of uneven walls. This range is backed with a 20 year guarantee and sales are gaining increasing traction, as Niglon establishes itself as a trusted supplier of decorative wiring accessories.
Further additions in 2025 include a more comprehensive grid range, with modules now available in all the plate finish options. Added after constructive customer feedback, the extended offering allows Niglon to offer decorative accessories to larger and more complex projects, with a far greater variety of solutions now available. These include 8 and 12 way grid plates, for example, in black and antique brass. Lastly, super-fast USB A+C type chargers, including both 4.8A and 45W varieties, have been added to the offering. This was felt particularly needed in a decorative plate finish, but for consistency Niglon has added these across its ranges including in white moulded. These complement the existing USBs and provide a strong modern offering, fit for today’s needs.

In focus: White moulded accessories – Median: The dependable stalwart
Median is manufactured using quality electrical components and materials, backed up with a 20-year guarantee (except electronic components, which still have a two-year guarantee), giving customers confidence these switches and sockets will stand the test of time. The range has been tested to BS1363 by a reputable and independent third-party test house with a global reach, Intertek. This gives wholesalers and installers alike confidence to buy the product in the safe knowledge it has undergone checks and inspections not only by the factory, but also by an organisation (the test house) that is impartial and independent from Niglon.
Moreover, all 10AX light switches are constructed using a highly adaptable modular single screw fixing, allowing reconfiguration on site without the need for a full grid system. This saves the electrician time on site and provides terrific flexibility. Additions to the range over recent years (including, for instance, a fan switch module) mean most adaptations can now be fully handled.
Finally, the Median range is made from a high grade Urea. This material has inherent antimicrobial properties, helping to stop the spread of bacteria such as MRSA, E.Coli, Salmonella and Klebsiella Pneumonia. Niglon has gone so far as to have its products lab tested, and can provide these results upon request. This means customers will have proof of what microbes struggle to survive on the Median product, and the efficacy or ‘kill rates’ of the same. For further details contact Niglon’s office.
In late 2024, Niglon decided to go further and introduce into its Median and Arctic ranges a switched socket offering (single and double pole) which has been redesigned and represents an improved product. Specifically, these sockets include clearer terminal markings, inclined caged terminals (backed off ready for use), an integrated earth bar and a more robust switch weld break mechanism. These new twin sockets also feature the BSI Kitemark. This is for those customers who may gain additional peace of mind with regards to quality control processes in place, and it is also envisaged this may open greater specification opportunities for the company.

Starting back in 1998 at the age of 18, when the doors first opened at Eurolite. Mandy Clarkson, a Key Account Associate, still remembers receiving the very first delivery of stock – Georgian Brass!
Covering several roles over the years, from answering customer calls to unloading deliveries if needed, in 1998 Mandy was made Assistant Manager, before taking a pause on her Eurolite love affair due to relocation. However, she did return to the company in 2013 upon returning to the area.
Now a Key Account Associate working as a part of Eurolite’s Customer Service team, Mandy dedicates herself to giving the best service possible to its customers, immersing herself in the day to day of Eurolite – including insight into new product requests, the product life-cycling and much, much more. Mandy revels in the variation of her role and is happy to provide support wherever she may be needed.
Mandy has seen plenty of ranges come and go through her time with the company, but admits that her favourite would be the new Satin Brass in the Enhance range.
Mandy is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to wiring accessories – she’s seen it all with the company and is seen as the go to person for all things Eurolite!
